Yet, the FDA and the FTC have decided to attack anyone selling any dietary supplement that claims to "ward off the flu". Dr. Andew Weil became the latest victim of a joint FDA/FTC warning letter for stating on his website that a product he sold that contained astragalus could "ward off the flu". He had only 15 days to respond. I hope he goes public; goes on Oprah and divulges to all Americans how our rights to free speech and freedom of the press are being destroyed by the excesses of the FDA and the FTC in the name of the profits of Big Pharma.
The bottom line here is that ANY dietary supplement that boosts your immune system is helpful in the flu season when flu is rampant, even and most especially, the least expensive of all Vitamin D3. Take 5000 IU daily and you may not even get the flu! Just don't tell the FDA I told you so!
But, some of the near-rabid comments from the media on this are disgusting, including the ridiculous one above y this Cunningham person. It's a sham, since dietary supplements are NOT patentable in most cases.(An exception to that is that one company has patented a SYNTHETIC version of the supplement Resveratrol to reverse aging. But if you state on your website that Resveratrol will reverse aging, you risk the same FDA warning letter, possible arrest by US Marshalls, product seizure, steep criminal fines and Federal prison sentences.)
DOES ANYONE SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE???
People wake up - the FDA is out to do away with dietary supplements so you will HAVE to buy more prescription drugs at a high cost, complete with all the side effects. It's time to let your Congressman know you want your supplements left alone, and it's time to wake up to how the news media are casting supplements in a negative light, to keep their advertisers (Big Pharma) happy.
