Levaquin and other flouroquinolones should be prescribed only as a last resort to save someone's life. Why? This class of antibiotics can and often causes severe long lasting damage. I was given 750mgs of Levaquin for 21 days in 2007 for epididymitis. Even though there were other treatment options available I was told it was safe and well tolerated by my doctor. It changed my life forever. To date, I have suffered many damages. I talk about it at www.myquinstory.info

I have been taking Levaquin 500MG for two days now for a sinus infection. I am starting to feel a slight ache and pain in my right foot on the arch. I read the perscription information and found out about the tendons warings. I'm glad that I read these warnings. My sinus infection is better, but I'm stopping Levaquin asap and calling my doctor on Monday. A sinus infection will eventually go away but a torn tendon will not. Does anyone know of a safter antibiotic to take in order to treat a sinus infection?

To CherylKansas..Live life to the fullest and make yourself get up and move. Right. I am following behind my sister who was in a severe car accident and broke tweny plus bones from her waist down, almost died and has numerous sugeries the last one being in April of 2010 fusing her right ankle. I took Levaquin late April early May and am crippled by pain. She moved in so I could take care of her and now she is taking care of me. From head to toe my body and joints ache to no end. The more I try to move the more my body screams at me. This is something that I can not handle and really don't know how much longer I can take living like this.

I would never ever take this medicine again. I am crippled from using this prescribed drug. My advice to all my friends, family and strangers will always be to stay away from this medicine. It is better to be safe than sorry. |

I feel very sorry for those suffering side effects and can vouch for the levity with which doctors prescribe these antibiotics. I was prescribed ciproflaxin yesterday here in the UK for a suspected urinary infection but without a urine test which has today been conducted and turned out negative. It was like being prescribed candies. Took a 250mg pill yesterday afternoon, didn't sleep, had aching achilles tendon and a sensation of hearing unexplained noises every time I was about to sleep. Took one today then realised that the achilles tendon problem indicated I should stop. I haven't taken more and hope I will suffer no lasting damage but I am a pretty worried puppy right now. My concentration has been down at work and I feel I may have potentially been poisoned for no good reason. I shall be speaking to the doc tomorrow but much less trustingly than I did yesterday. Good luck to sufferers. The medical profession deserve a punch up the bracket for this.

I have been on levaquin for 9 days now. I am supposed to take the last pill tonite. I have been experiencing joint pain started first about the third day in my right calf. Then my lower back and now in both knees and my right arm and shoulder. Also feel exhausted and loss of appetite. It was prescribed by a Nurse Practioner (for a suspected recurrent Urinary Tract Infection.) When I called for the culture yesterday (as they did not call me) I was told that the Lab (destroyed it or it was lost)....I saw a Urologist yesterday as my smptoms of the recurrent UTI were worrying me. This was against the advise of the Nurse Practioner who said I was wasting my time and money to see the Urologist unitl I was off the Levaquin for 10 days. I went to see him anyway. He said that I probably don't even have a UTI, but to finish the medicine anyway? What sense does this make? I can't figure it out. I wish now after reading about this on the Internet that I never would have taken Levaquin..but it is too late. I won't take the last pill tonite. Tried to work out today, as I usually did this 3x or more a week before I started the Levaquin, but was too sore and exhauted. This stuff is REALLY SCARY. I just hope I have no permanent damage.

I feel that we should start a class-action suit against the manufacturers of this drug now...before more innocent people are crippled by it. It NEEDS TO BE STOPPED.

Wow, it's so sad that there are ignorant people in the healthcare profession like yourself. You need to do some research and learn how these Fluoroquinolones ruin the quality of life in many of us who have been poisoned by it. Maybe you need to take more pharmacology courses since you're the one who will be administering a poison like this to patients with infections. I'd rather have you learn and be aware of the dangers of these drugs instead of experiencing it yourself. I wouldn't even wish this poison on my enemy.

If you're suffering from joint pain, fibromyalgia, nerve pain, skin problems, and unexplained anxiety ask yourself if you've taken Levaquin, Cipro, Floxin, or any other antibiotics in the Fluoroquinolone class. These side effects are devastating. I hope that all of us will recover from this horrible ordeal.

I would recommend http://indgeneric.com . Excellent service, lowest price, product arrives within 2 weeks in plain envelope. They are the sole of discretion. Believe me, I have used them several times, not that I need them but wow. Remember to check your blood pressure first as it can affect your eyesight.
