Radio died when Clearchannel et al. bought up the entire medium. When you flip the dial and hear the same song or commercial in sync, it's no longer a medium for anything but ad sales. A perfect example of people who hate music, controlling the distribution channels for music.

I for one would like the truth to get his/her own show on WCRS. It'd be like actually listening to the old guy in the public library who talks to himself all day. Of course, for purposes of balance and fairness in broadcasting, Conservatives Lie or DrC would have to get a show as well, preferably in the late evening to help listeners fall asleep quickly.

Seriously? It took 2 1/2 years to decide that one channel gets 12 hours a day and other channel gets the other 12 hours a day? What kind of idiots are running these radio stations?

Speaking of low power stations, I sure wish 101.9/ W.I.N.F.,in Delaware, Ohio would turn up it's power, so I could hear it anywhere in central Ohio. This is NOT spam, I'm just a listener who really enjoys a genuine mix of 'elevator & office music'(which no other station has). And they have a REAL lack of commercials. However, I do wish they would give Jennifer Elfman and the cat adoption agency both a few weeks off the air.

This is when it will all get interesting to see if it's really a community radio or the community organizer's radio station? Sad how it took 2.5 years to get the hours agreed on just imagine how long it will take for approval of shows to air? Excluding anyone's format could well end in the station losing it's license.

WCRX does not operate by committee, there is a manager, and a programming advisory board, so a decision on programming could be made in as little as a few hours. WCRX also does not have a philosophy, so you don't have to fit a certain mold to be on the air. Hope that helps

I still think WCRS should be the radio equivalent of public access TV- just give 15-30 minutes to whomever wants to get on the air and embarrass themselves and/or entertain listeners. It could be any format, any social or political viewpoint. Public access TV in Columbus in the 80's was great- I still think the best television I ever saw was "TNT True Adventure Tales", which was some old gentleman's home movies which he narrated while a 1950's Muzak soundtrack doodled away in the background. Now THAT was television! However, no one else seems to remember it even being on but me.

LuAnn Stoia, Greg Kurtz and one other staffer got whacked. And they wonder why people tune radio out?

I liked 'Clintonville Confidential'.(Hi James and Matt! Hope you're still out there!) Columbus has no idea what they missed- and what they'll be missing once everything is privatized/commercialized.

Okay forum. You want something NEW and Entrtaining?
I suggest you volunteer for the station instead of being a troll on this forum.
Case in point, everyone wants ComFest to be better. Volunteer!
You want community radio better, volunteer. I do! Plus I have a show from all that; and I am "live" On Wednesday from 3:30-4:30pm.

OK, pardner, I want 15-30 minutes a week to discuss gun rights, libertarian political philosophy and survivalism. In between I'll play some 1960's honky tonk country music. Boy, that'll fit right in with the rest of the programming on WCRS, won't it?

I'm not so sure all six of your listeners would appreciate my viewpoints (or radio ability). Based on what I've heard, WCRS' programming is about as "diverse" as an issue of the Workers' World. For all practical purposes, it's another Pacifica station. YAWNNN. Funny how the organizations that talk so much about the importance of diversity usually have the most un-diverse membership.
