ya point well taken about all the cell phones etc already around. BUT that exposure is mostly voluntary, NOT EVERYONE has or uses cell phone, wireless router, tv set, microwave, etc. We get no choice on the PGE meter. Expect big new industry offering EMF sheilding for the interior of homes from this gizmo. But ya, nothing is fair. Remembering Enron, I recall that within a few hours of "Bush wins by 537 votes" our power went out in the evening from rolling blackout. Really seemed like ominous message, I guess it was, in retrospect.

Our gas meter is right outside of our bedroom window. My spouse suffered through seizures from 1992 till he had a bleed out summer of 2009 and required emergency brain surgery. We do not sleep with our microwave oven or cell phones next to us, nor is there a television in the bedroom. We have had the smart electric meter for over ten years and it is on the other side of our garage. Right now we have a sign on the meter requesting them to leave it be.

The name SmartMeter is a trademarked name for meters by SmartSynch. Your 10 year old electric meter is not one of them, but I suppose you could call anything smart, just like they did in Sonoma county with their old heavy rail diesel commute trains, they call it SMART ! It's a sham, both the meters and the diesel trains.
