Prosecute anybody that help or knew anything about what was going on and failed to report it! That includes Deputies, city official etc... I have a hard time believing that the city of Wilburton didn’t have a clue after all those years it has been going on! The jail is downtown Wilburton, OK one block of main. I believe if the FBI, Internal affairs investigated they may find a lot more corruption. Corruption it’s got to stop!

One of his deputies had a stroke a couple of years ago and is now in a nursing home after his wife divorced him and he lost everything....

yes there is alot of corruption in wilburton. police and drugs tend to go hand in hand here. half of the police here havent a clue how to find their own ass with both hands much less trying to police the city. i always thought that a police man was to serve and protect not harrass and rape. i do believe that we need to go in and completely clean house and get rid of the disease riddin cops we have. little chicago needs cleaned up something bad.

Yes, the murder of Marie G. Dighton of Buffalo Valley will probably not be solved because the sherrif's officer contaminated the scene. They didn't even know she was murdered until the daughter pointed it out and by that time crucial evidence had already been destroyed or contaminated. How they could miss an obvious crime is beyond comprehension, especially such an obvious murder. They didn't follow basic police protocol. The OSBI agents were furious at their incompetence!

I am so confused, the Marie Dighton that I knew in Buffalo Valley was Frieda Marie Dighton. She was the same age as the one you speak of, but she didn't have a middle name starting with the letter "G" I need someone to clarify this so I know it is the same woman. Marie was 100% german decent and she had 2 sons, one of which passed away about 4 years ago. Is this the same woman?

If she was a friend of yours I'm sorry to tell you, yes it is. She is greatly missed in the Valley. Please solve this Murder. If you are the law on this case are you just going to sweep it under the carpet just like you do everything else in South Eastern Ok.

Yes, it is the same woman. Her legal name was Marie Gottfriede Dighton and everyone called her Frieda. They ran Dighton's TV at the Buffalo Valley Y and then in Wilburton for 25 years.

Reward Offered in Buffalo Valley Murder - Effective 01-21-09
The OSBI is offering up to a $5,000 reward plus another $10,000 from the victim’s family for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the murder of 67-year-old Marie Dighton. The victim was found inside her Buffalo Valley home June 5, 2008, when the Latimer County Sheriff’s Office checked on her welfare at the request of her daughter.

Dighton was found inside her bedroom with a cut to her throat.

Agents need the public’s help. If anyone has any information on this case, please call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.

Thank you for letting me know that she was one in the same. It is a shame and a crime that this happened. She was very opinionated and I loved her for that. She was sweet and strong at the same time. I will miss her greatly. I'm wondering if her death is connected to her son's death at all.

I do not think so, but you never know. I just know it was a brutal killing.

I went to college with Elizabeth Dighton, is this her mother?? Please can someone clear this up for me? I believe Elizabeth's name was Marie Elizabeth or Elizabeth Marie, I pray that this women was'nt her mom.
