The City Manager said the fee is "insubstantial". Well that is typical of our city leaders liberal tax and spend addictiveness.

Come on guys, a $1.50 to improve our badly outdated and undersized terminal?! Good idea, spend $30 driving to Sacramento to spend $10 a day to park so you can save a $1.50, real smart.

Chico needs a new terminal if they ever are going to attract regional jets. We got a bigger fire truck and new fire station for the jets, but not the bigger terminal to accommodate more passengers.

There are many towns smaller than Chico that have new terminals for regional jet service. One is New Bern NC, their terminal would be perfect for Chico. They have 2 airlines flying in and a new terminal and their fire truck is parked in a tent. Carlsbad, CA just updated their terminal too and their fire truck is parked in an open carport. They both focused on the passengers that pay for the tickets and improvements.

All taxes and fees are "insubstantial", and their costs of compliance are "insignificant". Just ask any tax agency, they'll tell you so.

Here's a blast from the past, the 1913 form 1040:

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-utl/1913.pdf

In 1913 the income tax would only apply to that dinky number of wealthy rascals making more than $3,000 per year.

Gosh, and it was "only" 1% unless you were a greedy bugger making $20k or more.

Well are you admitting you tax and spend liberals have gotten the cart before the horse or what? I do not know did you build a new fire house? You need to understand I for one do not want big fancy jets with rich fancy speculators and carpetbaggers coming here. To hell with what the city counsel says is progress and development, it has not shown itself to be a good thing except in making civil service parasites lazier, richer, fatter and greedier. While making more of the locals poorer and hungrier, bringing more problems with crime and pollution.

Here's a blast from the past. Five years ago, a jar of honey was about $4.99. Now it's about $9.99. I use honey, because it is an item I used to use regularly - it's healthier than white sugar. But now I can't afford it.

See, the trough dwellers have managed to raise their salaries (which they negotiate with themselves, basically), which raised not only our taxes, but the cost of housing, food, EVERYTHING. Meanwhile, they managed to keep our salaries low by bringing in outside labor (alot of them un-documented aliens, and yeah, I saw it for myself over at the city subsidized old folks home on Park Ave.). So now, the guy that rooves your house might be lucky to make 50 grand a year, while the mo-fa-low who sells you the permit makes $140,000.

I think, in the old days, they called it, "The Gravy Train."

50 grand a year that is like big money times two to me and for a roofer. You have got to be mistaking. Maybe the roofer your talking of is the contractor. When the rich carpetbaggers fly into the new airport that we give up our coffee for, well all he must see when he looks down on all of our roofs is money. He must be thinking as he is looking down on us we are peons who gave up our coffee and we can not even pee just so he can land in "style". To hell with Burkyland and his fee.

Ingineer66 hits the nail on the head.$1.50 is small time chump change and people who complain about that are therefore small time chumps.
Best thing about the Chico Airport is Kimo's Hawaiian grill, genuine Island style plate lunches but will it even stay open without increased airport traffic?

Really? If it were as good as you say people would drive out there for it. Better to just sell sandwiches to passer by's who want to develop Redding and Anderson, I do not want them staying long here. Any way who would want to be a big time chump?

stephens that is a good one. Me a tax and spend liberal? That is a laugh. The airport use fee is exactly what most of us conservatives want. The users pay for the service. And yes that is exactly what I am saying the city put the cart before the horse with the fire station before the terminal.
If you do not want jets then don't use the airport. If you do not want to be near a town that has progress and an airport then you should move to Modoc County.
And I am pretty sure that the folks that are coming here and robbing people and selling drugs are not arriving by plane.
And the planes go both ways at the airport. People that are from here use the airport to go other places too. A lot more people go other places to make money to bring back to Chico than people coming here to take money away.

Stephens, I have to thank you for the entertainment I get from reading your posts. Really it's hilarious. Do you even use the airport at all, much less regularly to complain about the use rate? I would think that the people who use it regularly would be happy to pay a small price for the improved services.

Brandy, you are welcome. You know laughter is the best medicine. I enjoy laughing at myself to.
This issue to me is more about the city councils assumed and abused right to impose fees with every childish whim that they get. They seem to be like socialist spoiled tax and spend liberals suppressing/burdening individual freedoms and private enterprise. It is to similar to "taxes without representation". Issues are to many and far out of an arms reach. Yes I have used the air port. And even had a pilots license for a while. I can not help but feel the need to resist. This little web service is a great way to vent, right?

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Taurus

Someone isn't mucking about today, and if they're annoyed about something they'll come right out with it. This means you could be on the receiving end of some zingers, but equally it means that you'll be giving as good as you get. Now, although it will be very tempting to let off steam by giving someone an earful, aren't there better directions in which to channel your energy?
