Sounds like a typical school board problem...too few in the district care and the few that are involved think they above everyone else. If you don't vote ..you can't complain Don't get involved in your school district...don't be surprised on what happens.

I guess you didn't understand the article! Why did the school district receive several notices of violation??? Why was the district asked to register with the county as a contaminated site? Instead of bashing Boda, maybe you should question why the board and the super decided to take TWO YEARS to start the remedation project. Then ask them why they decided not to inform the Parents of the health risks to their children.
When the Board members start to do their job and do it with the best interest of the Stuidents and Staff. Then maybe, just maybe, we can believe what they say.
The EPA also said that the air quality was fine at the 9/11 sight. Read the book Fallout by Juan Gonzales.

Small minded name calling and witless personal attacks are exactly the road down which the corrupt authorities and administration, in whose charge we have put our children's health and safety, would like us to travel. Mr. Buda exemplified the courage to go against the grain in an atmosphere where anything but flying blindly with the flock is considered reprehensible at best; this is the courage our elected officials owe us. Besides being a hero on 9/11 and sacrificing his own health and safety to attempt to rescue fallen Americans, Mr. Buda and other community members with the same conviction have stood up, lone wolves crying in the wilderness, and howled until others would listen. The facts are plain, and must elicit the abdication or public removal of the powers that be. How much more proof is needed to call a spade a spade ? Because school administrators did what they were told does not exculpate them from guilt here. The superintendent and his crew have FOR YEARS ignored recommendations, requests, and even orders from numerous authorities, and these authorities were derelict in their duty to follow throw with the failures in compliance. We now have proof, undeniable real proof that a problem exists, and a great probability that it is even worse. Close the school, move our children out of harms way, and call for those who are responsible for deceiving us for years to come forward. Stop leveling unfounded attacks against do-gooders. No merit is attained through anonymous nay saying. Attach your name to your conjectures if that is how you truly feel; take a page out of Mr. Buda's book. Let us forget the personal and trivial and try to see the forest through the trees.

Yea, I actually heard that Obama is going to spend a few minutes discussing Island Trees High School in his speech at the DNC.

Get off the couch and go to a board meeting. Your school district is one of the few places left where an individual's voice can be loud enough to matter, and bring change. Stop waiting for the President (whoever he is) to fix your problems, because that isn't going to happen in this day and age.

Joe Buda, do you hear how bad you sound when you speak? Clearly education wasn't high on your "to do" list when you went to school. You sound like an uneducated dolt. And you represent US? Scary. Really scary.
I had a brief encounter with Joe Buda @ the high school. The man is a total arrogant ass----. Joe, you're bilking the system with your phony disability. You're full of sh-- with your claims of 9/11, get a real job and stop witch-hunting!!

I had a brief encounter with that phony 9/11 victim Joe Buda. He's a total arrogant ass----! Joe, if you need something to do all day instead of bilking the taxpayers' for your phony disability pay, get a job! I heard you speaking at the BOE meeting last night and I wanted to throw up. I came away from that meeting quite comfortable after hearing various experts, but was quite delighted to see you and your minions crawl away with your tails between your legs! Joe and the other witch-hunters, GO AWAY!
