And it was just a few months ago that they cleaned up the lead and said it was safe. Was the job done or not morons? If not, you've had all damn summer to do it.

Fifteen minutes of fame??? Joe Buda deserves a lot of praise and accolades for stepping up, despite attempts to dissuade him. The lead levels recorded at Island Trees High School are the highest ever recorded by the NYS DEC. Two years after the community was told that everything is AOK @ ITHS, the numbers are still "off the charts". The amount of kids who are sick is staggering!! The Island Trees community is being lied to and the lies are not coming from Joe Buda or Brian Kelty.

The school administrators will still get their fat salaries and perks.. God job Mr. Buda, hopefully, the district will hold folks accountable and get rid of some of the administrators who lied.

It seems that every article that is written about this school district, the school officials have no comment. As taxpayers you really need to go to these board meeting as it is impossible to make a knowledgeable decision about this situation without hearing all the facts from both sides. This boardmember stepped up to the plate and makes the district responsible to its taxpayers and the children of the district. You really have to give him credit as we all need to start voicing our concerns to get things done.

Joe Buda is no hero. He's "disabled" from 9/11 with alleged breathing problems, but smokes like a fiend. I can't trust someone who tries to act as though he's one of the good guys when in fact he's not. He's just trying to get his face in the news. Ask some of his neighbors on his own block what they think of him. They would not be as impressed with him as he is of himself. How is it that a civil servant can afford luxury cars and a huge house, like he has? Can we say "settlement"? Another civil servant who bilked the system (aka US TAXPAYERS) to retire on an inflated pension THANKS to 9/11. So how can any taxpayer take someone like him seriously as someone who will keep lower taxes in mind? The picture of him in today's paper is a poor respresentation of the population of Island Trees. He looks like a "typical white trash Levittowner", which is what I overheard people saying about him on the train this morning. He's blowing this "lead" problem WAY out of proportion for the sole purpose of trying to gain notoriety, and nothing more. Go back to work Buda, stop acting as though you're disabled. Try doing an HONEST days' work like the rest of us.

Joe Buda, do you hear how bad you sound when you speak? Clearly education wasn't high on your "to do" list when you went to school. You sound like an uneducated dolt. And you represent US? Scary. Really scary.

When you have Board of Education members stating that the school is safe but you have lead test results done this year that state the levels of lead are unacceptable and at those levels pose a “Public Health Hazard”–you also have to remember this school was to have been “cleaned up” back in 2006- so why in the world are they still finding very high levels of lead contamination two years later? You also have a heating and ventilation system that was supposed to be tested BUT never was and sand tunnels that should be covered in cement but won’t be until next summer—so Thank You- Joe Buda & Brian Kelty for stepping up and trying to protect the students at Island Trees High School. Lets hope and pray the rest of the Island Trees School Board can take action and get this school cleaned properly for once and for all. I personally am tired of the “no comments” from other school board members.

This matter is not about liking Joe Buda or not and it is not about whether he has money or not. It's about facts!! If you would have gone to the board meetings you would see both sides views and facts and then lets see what you would have to say. Unless you have been to a board meeting regarding this issue your opinion is worthless.

Hm-m-m-m, just curious as to what methods are being used to "clean" up the lead?? Is it a certified Lead Abatement Removal company doing the work or is it a "Fly By Nite" outfit???Reminds of the cruise ships "wiping down" common areas with a disinfectant in order to control Norovirus outbreaks.
