Will a current land contaminated owner be able to sell?
And at what type of discount?
Who's fault?
Avx; who has made billions?
Who should pay?
AVX!

The AFB was here long before this was a tourist town. They'll get to it when they get to it. Think the government gives a "F" about the Market Commons, or much less a group of nearby trailer park residents that are stupid enough to drink the water coming out of the tap?

So the Air Force was contaminating with trichlorethelene too, a common solvent. Sounds like its not all AVX's fault after all. Everybody has been dumping on AVX as the sole contributor... evedently not so.

I wonder about alot of this! Also, we all know that AVX has had issues with the trichlo. So why is it only the Militarys job to clean it up??
This issue has been going on for years!!

These two clean-up sites are only a sliver of the almost 4,000 acre former airforce base. Both of them are closer to existing off-base developments than the Market Common. The Market Commons site has been and is environmentally clean, safe and sound. No project the size of Market Common would be able to get the required financing without a clean bill of health!

They have said before that Market Commons uses city water. They "say" that city water is not tied to groudwater. That would only be a problem for people who live there who use wells. The builders must do soil and water testing in order to build on that land.

I saw a copy of the Federal clean up reports for the market common project before investing. As stated the ground mentioned in the article is no where near the market Common or Withers Preserve projects. These parcels were cleared before financing was available.
