A congressional investigation has produced new details on the degree to which senior Bush administration officials favored using the Clean Air Act to limit greenhouse gas emissions - until pressure from Vice President Dick Cheney's...

Why is this VP allowed to continue his unethical, immoral and perhaps illegal influences and actions? Sheesh! Can he not be stopped? He should have been impeached during the 1st 4 years.

“Frankly, that's ridiculous” that’s what Cheney’s office said about the report that the Vice President was involved with policy which helped the oil business. I have reliable information that he did not participate in the decision to hamper the EPA, my dog told me so. He said woof woof, and he would know. Why is everyone picking on poor Cheney, he’s a great guy, the anti Christ.

Cheney is the worst crook of them all, imo. I wouldn't be surprised if he's done far more decision making than Dubya "the decider".

During the 4 p.m. ET hour of the July 18 edition of CNN's The Situation Room, congressional correspondent Dana Bash uncritically aired an ad by Sen. John McCain that states that Sen. Barack Obama "never held a single Senate hearing on Afghanistan. He hasn't been to Iraq in years. He voted against funding our troops -- positions that helped him win his nomination." However, neither Bash nor host Wolf Blitzer noted, as Media Matters for America has documented, that McCain himself "voted against funding our troops" when he voted against legislation that would have provided funds for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and directed more than $1 billion to the Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as other legislation funding care for veterans. That legislation included a timetable for U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq except for a "limited number" of troops "essential" for "[p]rotecting United States and coalition personnel and infrastructure," "[t]raining and equipping Iraqi forces," and "[c]onducting targeted counter-terrorism operations." Further, neither Bash nor Blitzer noted that McCain is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, but has reportedly not attended a single Armed Services Committee hearing related to Afghanistan in 2007-08

You people need to take a deep breath. Do you fully realize the consequences of allowing federal bureaucracies to regulate "greenhouse gases" as pollutants under the Clean Air Act? It basically gives the bureacrats plenary power to regulate and micromanage anything and everything that emits a greenhouse gas, which includes you and me.

To the extent GW should be addressed, it should be by specific, narrowly-tailored laws passed by Congress only after extensive study and debate.

Don't be stupid and don't read the LA Times.

Towns in Washington D.C., McCain asked the crowd if they had heard "the one about the woman who is attacked on the street by a gorilla, beaten senseless, raped repeatedly and left to die?"

The punch line: "When she finally regains consciousness and tries to speak, her doctor leans over to hear her sigh contently and to feebly ask, "Where is that marvelous ape?"

Eeeshh. The joke, as one can imagine, did not go over well with various women's groups, which responded with indignation

I was stupid and read your jibber jabber. Someone who defends Dick Cheney and his heavy handed, secretive "White House" pressure. "We can make you wish you never crossed us". Cheney is just another in the long line of thugs who blurred all lines between politician and mobster. He seem to have put a face on unscrupulous behavior. What's really interesting about Bush and Cheney is how they smile and wave at us while they're sticking it to us. They don't owe anyone any explanations, they don't have abide by any control measures, protocal, or laws. They are the law!

What I just love about conservative contradiction is how they hate government intervention. Except when it comes to abortion, faith based initiatives, prayer in school, medicinal marijuana, creationism, any legalization of marijuana, labor disputes, stem cell, global warming. It's just those goddamn pesky laws that stop our right wing agenda.

Cheney is simply trying to protect the price of oil. The higher it goes, the less people will buy oil and THAT will solve Global Warming.

It's too bad Democrats are so deeply into the costly efforts against global warming and don't seem to give a rat's ass about helping poor people make ends meet. All those inefficiencies they want to introduce just up the costs for business, reducing their profits and thus the taxes they pay to the federal government that Democrats then want to use to fight their various utopian causes. Remember: less revenue to the government means bigger deficits, more borrowing from the Chinese and so more jobs lost to foreign workers. It also means less money to help the poor.

So Democrats' goals are at conflict with each other.

Republicans CEO’s moved the factory jobs to China and India to improve their companies’ bottom line and their bonuses. Now that the factories are there the republicans use the excuse that due to their growing economies they are using more oil, so up goes the demand and we must pay more for it here. Wow want a bunch of horse’s arses, they should all be tried for treason and if this was 1955 they would have been. But alas they totally own congress and the President. Hail to the oil barons.

Shut up you dumb ass, WMD's were never found. 5 years counting. Global warming is indisputed fact. Allready proven. Time and time again. You are a cluless wannabe intellect. Besides being right all the time, liberals are way more fun. Can't you tell?

I know!!!! America ain't so smart anymore. Conservatives just keep gutting our public schools,(a cornerstone success of democracy). They want education to be a privilage again. Just like Jim Crow. Seperate but Equal. Conservatives have always been against an educated general public. They're harder to manipulate. It's leaning that way again. How else could a baffoon like G.W. Bush ever get elected?

I used to be a big time liberal. I spoke at rallies, marched and read all of Noame Chomsky’s books. But when I saw how they wanted me to lie about the theory of global warming that states after billions of years it is all the fault of one segment of society I knew then that we were heading towards Nazism all over again. Global warming preaches hate, blame, fear and ignorance. My kids said they don’t have a future because we are all going to die soon from SUV gas. Is this theory still rational?
Well it’s been twenty-five years of predictions of doom from global warming and I am perfectly at ease knowing that it was all for nothing.
I’d like to tell you that we are not destroying the world, the end is not near and there is no other time in history that I’d like to live.
I have faith in the future of progress to give us new energy sources to rid ourselves of oil, not for pollution but rather for world peace.
So there is no reason to panic and be afraid. Life is good.

Dude! Your comparing Global Warming to Nazism? You are seriously mental! It's scientific fact, and yes, the dangers are self extermination. A hundred years if this is ignored. This isn't a game. If you read the material then you know the facts. What "one segment of society" are you speaking of?

If you are, and I'm beginning to have serious reservations, who you say you are. Then you realize 25 years is just the beginning. It's a degree a decade. You knew that right? You've seen the glasiers? Your children, if what you say is true, are dead on about their future.

You end up with a positive note that we can turn this around. So you haven't given up on the principal fact that this science is fact? You can't be optimistic about your future while abandoning what you know to be true. Stay true to the cause, stay optimistic, but be vigilant.

This may be a rouse by the right but it doesn't really matter, I trumped and reputed any doubts this fool may have had about the science and the facts. The personal touch was just mindless fluff to get stupid people all flustered.

"Global warming preaches hate, fear, blame and ignorance" You see... that's what gave this nonsense away.

As I said before, your a dumbass, who preaches. Period.
