Nancy Pelosi's health-care reform lesson: You can't always get ...

Full story: TwinCities.com

Even before her bill reaches the House floor, health care reform has been a lesson in the limits of power for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi - and in the immense challenge of managing disappointment on the left.

"I don't like to have predictable losses"... then why do you fly around in a 757 for yourself at a cost of over 5 million dollars a year just on fuel at tax payers expense when something smaller would suffice?. "We happy few; we band of brothers"... and sisters wasting incredible amounts of money to support your completely irrational needs, and to
turn the Rolling Stones into flat rocks you can get what you want but not what you need by whining like a political crybaby. Had you been born a male you would have made a wonderful professional athlete. Maybe when your job is finished in just over 3 years you can become a sports agent.

"This is a remarkable change," said Rep. George Miller, a close Pelosi ally and chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee. "At the end of the day,... you've said to Americans,'Never again will you be without insurance.' Kind of stunning. Incrementalism will never get you there."

At the end of every day the majority of Americans have said to you NO, NO, AND NO and you refuse to listen. Good luck in 2010... the pre-election polls show the Democrats are behind in nearly every available seat. That's what you get when tell lies and refuse to listen... we take care of business with our own votes!

I would have thought that President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Reid could have figured out that at the least you need a Health Care Reform Bill palatable to your Liberal Lefties, and Moderate Democrats. This is funny because the battle against the Republicans for this bill is off the table. They can't even get a consensus within their own party. Scrap this bill and sit down and start over with a partisan start. Let's not forget TORT reform either.

The key problem I have is with the line "you get what you need".

First of all, this is NOT what we need. WE CAN'T AFFORD IT. In addition to the "stimulus" nonsense, Obama and his band of Merry Men (and wannabe men like Nazi Pelosi) continue to waste our taxpayer dollars as if the funds were endless. We have heard "hope" and "change" ad nauseum, yet nothing has changed. Obama has turned the White House into the Waffle House. Business as usual. What a fraud. What a liar.

This (not-so-) grand idea will definitely create job losses and lengthen the recovery time from the recession. There is no way that you can tax those who are hard-working and prosperous and give it to those who won't work hard. The Leftist Loons have already created a dependence on the government, and nowhere does it show more than Kooky Kalifornie. Generation after generation on the dole, living in government-provided housing, growing babies like weeds (witness the latest rape case in the headlines). We've created a monster, and it's time to slay it.

The Democrats asked the middle class to give them a majority in the Congress and we did that because we wanted change.

Then they said we need a Democratic President and we voted one in.

Then they asked and told us they needed a supper majority in the Senate to deliver real change and health care for all and the middle class delivered.

What did we get in exchange an 1800 page bill that does nothing to relieve the raising cost of health insurance premiums, provides no real health care reforms, no public option to provide competition for the monopolies of the health care industry, absolutely no help for the middle class struggling to pay our rapidly raising health care premiums

All the middle class is really getting is the bill for all those who could not afford insurance before that we will have to pay for now.

The Democrats are udder failures in keeping their promises to the people who elected them and wanted National Health Care for all.

These 3 statements in the article bother me. My opinions are below each one.

1) "I'm not big on showing weakness. It's not my thing," she said in the interview. "I don't like to have predictable losses."

Nancy, you have to know how to play the game and know the odds,(both clueless to you), and when have the American people become pawns on a chess board for you to play with. This is not a game and even if you think you have won, you are a looser anyway. Wake up!!!

2) "The speaker is a person who is about change and reform," Kind told POLITICO. "She does appreciate people who are thinking out of the box."

That's old Nancy. We need somebody to just stop and think before this mess gets out of control even farther. You need to stop putting you feet in your mouth. This is not change and reform it's shoving something down the American's throats, we need some answers to the problem first.

2)"Think of how many speakers in the past have tried to get to this point," said Rules Committee Chairwoman Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y. "She got here."

Nancy got their alright, To the point of no return. The point on top of the highest mountain. Now all she needs to do is, Just Jump.

"Disappointment on the left" is a huge understatement here.

Health care is a right and no person in this country should have to pay out of pocket for that care. For heavens sake! You will die without the proper health care.

The Relubli-thugs in this world think only their rich friends should get health care. Boy are they in for a shock in the next couple of years.

First off, you cannot get your own democratic party to agree on a bill. Second of all, who do you think has been paying for the un-insured/illegals to go to the doctor/hosptal/emergency room in the first place, "Taxpayers". We taxpayers have paid already in higher health insurance premiums, and higher taxes. This bill will only increase our taxes and health care premiums. Like I have said in previous posts, the un-insured have better health care than my family or I. Here is why: I pay $450/month-my employer $900/month for my $4,000.00 deductible family BC/BS health medical plan. So before my family can even benefit from our plan we have $4,000.00 out of pocket medical expense. We would be better off financially, dropping our medical plan, and pay our medical expenses out of pocket like we currentl do anyways. Taxpayers are tired of paying for the entitlements that we never benefit from. And we already know that however this health care bill is paid for, those costs will just be passed down once again to the taxpayer. All we will do is increase the amount of people on another entitlement program.

Well Irish at least your are consistent in your thinking... always wrong, but consistent.

If you don't mind could you explain how health care is a right and where you learned it from.

My crystal ball is out...here is what I predict will happen: the health care reform will pass with a public option. 99% of insurance companies will go out of business, and most of us will have to buy into the public plan. Because payments to doctors/hospitals will be similar to Medicare payments, most will go out of business. We will all have to wait 6 weeks to get in to see a doctor, and years for non-emergency surgeries. Everyone will have access to health care, but many will suffer needlessly because of it, due to waiting lists. I'm so tired of everyone thinking that they are "entitled" to everything, paid for by entrepreneurs and others who have made this country great. Tax the rich, dammit! They didn't do anything to deserve that money, except work very hard (in most cases). Make them support the lazy and illegal immigrants who choose not to go to college/get a job with health insurance, because that's the American way...

Great!
Glad to see that the scales have fallen from your eyes!

This arrogant, simpering poser and his Chicago thugs have seeded the machinery of government with socialist radicals (Holder, Dunn, her husband, Head of FCC, Koh, etc.)raised on communism and Alinsky.
The money comes from the scumb*g Soros who literally seeks the downfall of the US economy and social order-what's left of it.

Take back your country!

Nazi Pelosi...Dingy Harry...they legislate to bribe and pander to a voting base for their personal delusions of power. These people are insane with power and it shows in this insane bill that there is a national outrage against. I wish your dream was possible right now...thee government has NEVER been so polluted with filth and corruption as it is now. About 1 small step from a criminal enterprise. Disgraceful.
