The marijuana legalization movement has lost its best friend on the Conservative side of politics. Bill Buckley, one of America's top Conservative thinkers, has been a supporter of the legalization of marijuana since the 70s. Buckley wasn't a pothead but a true Conservative, a person who staunchly believed that government had no role in telling individuals what they could or could not do with their own bodies. I agree, how different than the currant HYPOCRITES in the White House..like The First FAT ASS.,..Getting into our mouths, while they are living off the FAT OF THE LAND Probation should have taught us something. That is no controlling groups,of Freaks should have the right to tell AMERICANS any thing. There are LAWS against Drunken driving!,,as there will be for driving under the influence! Paying Taxes, serving ones country is one thing,Traffic laws, and public safty. BUT our bed rooms,Pantry's,closets,Our Guns, our Bibles, have to be ours!!..to ALL Government!!..GET THE HELL OUT OF MY LIFE! GOD DAM LOONY SOCIALISTS CONTROLLING FREAKS

Better yet, reclassify prescription pain killers like oxycodone, oxyContin etc. as illegal drugs. The abuse of these addiction-forming drugs far outweighs that of marijuana. Just ask Limbaugh. He's an oxyContin addict from way back. But we can't, can we? The pharmaceutical industry has hundreds of billions of dollars invested in our dependencies and addictions to their prescription pain killers.. Addicting millions of people to those drugs is free enterprise and we can't mess with it. So,let's pick on marijuana and make it appear that we are doing something about drug addiction..

In order for a human to consume enough marijuana to be fatal, they would have to consume nearly 40,000 times the amount of THC required to intoxicate them. In contrast, it only requires about 5 to 10 times the amount of alcohol required for intoxicate to be fatal. For example, if it requires 3 beers to intoxicate you, it only requires 15 to 30 beers to kill you. However, if it takes you 3 'hits' of marijuana to intoxicate you, it would require 120,000 hits to kill you. Thus, it is virtually impossible to die of a marijuana overdose. According to current research, the lethal dose of marijuana is about one-third your body weight consumed all at once. In one research experiment, ingestion of enormous doses of Delta 9 THC and concentrated marijuana extract by mouth were unable to produce death or organ pathology in large mammals but did produce fatalities in smaller rodents due to profound central nervous system depression. The toxicity of cannabis is very low. There have been no confirmed deaths directly from cannabis overdose. Cannabis use can lead to a number of negative health consequences and can increase the risk of injury to yourself and to others. Not one death that I could find. Take a look at aspirin or even vitamins, you could die. Pot? Eat two large pizzas, goodnight.

Im not for legalizing marijuana necessarily . I see lots of problems with the issue both ways. But I am for the constitution being used by our criminals in Washington and its not a federal issue, whether they like it or not. But on the other hand, I see for years they are unconstitutional whether I like it or not. States are supposed to deal with this issue.

Bricks too. Its an amazing item.I was told there was a difference between hemp and marijuana , but my dictionary says different. I dont see that as an obstacle though. There are many things we use to produce something that even have harmful qualities to the body if inhaled or eaten, but we use them. I do see a problem with drinking and smoking though...lol

Im thinking the medical association is probably in on this one too. It would put allot of drugs out of business. It would also bring down the price of drugs they smuggle in at the border and since you could grow it no one would buy something they can have for free in their garden.

Addicting millions of people to those drugs is free enterprise and we can't mess with it. So,let's pick on marijuana and make it appear that we are doing something about drug addiction.. Opiates (prescription pain killers) are controlled substances, meaning it's illegal to have them or get them without a presciption. Millions of people use these drugs in the prescribed manner every year for the treatment of pain due to injuries, chronic conditions, post surgery and for patients suffering painful illnesses, such as cancer. When used in the prescribed manner and under a doctors care, addiction is rare. I know a lot of people who have taken these drugs as prescribed and as needed who had absolutely no problems when they stopped taking them. The abuse of these drugs is another matter altogether. And many young people find them in mom and dad's medicine cabinet. Pharmacy robberies are off the charts, there are doctors out there writing scripts for fat profits. Doctor shopping is also a common practice. My wife has a niece who is addicted to these drugs but who was never prescibed them in her life. They are available on any street corner, neighborhood party and in our schools. Some of them make it to the streets via foreign countries and drug cartels. And while we love to blame big pharma and free enterprise, we place no blame on our society, which has adopted an attitude which promotes doing whatever makes us feel good, which promotes a pill for whatever ails us or cocktails at four, so we can relax after our busy, stressful day. And which wants to legalize certain drugs because they're not deemed as harmful/addictive/impairing as other drugs...yet we expect the average teenager to understand the difference between the two. Pot is illegal, yet that doesn't stop people from using it, does it?

It's all about money. The revenue from cigarette sales is drying up as fewer people can afford to indulge. In PA, the CHIPS program is largely funded by8203 taxes on tobacco products which are almost routinely raised each year. The money from the great tobacco settlement is now automatically used to plug holes in the state budget although this was not the altruistic intent. With just about everything taxed to the point of oblivion, why not legalize pot for whatever justifiable reason? It may cut down on jail occupancy and its accompanying costs.

As long as both those are legal there is absolutely no reason for pot to be illegal.

How about weed to medicate vets or trauma patients You're referring to Salvia 'divinorum', an herb originating in the subtropical forests in Mexico. It produces psychotropic effects (i.e. hallucinations etc) similar to LSD. It is legal to posess or grow in the US but some states are trying to ban it. Fortunately most idiots try smoking the common garden Salvia plants which are a different species entirely and just end up with a massive headache. You can't stop stupid!!
