<quoted text>This is a great idea!!! And I wonder if they could trace the calls and get those people too. It seems like a simple solution to fix. I thought they lost all their rights when they got caught and put in jail. They already get 3 free meals and a roof over their heads! Some can even get a free education.

John Ozmint is another do-nothing excuse maker who blames budget cuts, prison employees, prisoners, the federal government, and the general public for his lack of control over South Carolina's prison system. He should be fired for being derelict in his duty and jailed himself for taking taxpayers money(his salary)for doing nothing.

when someone rapes, robs, maims or kills another human being, they do not do it by mistake, they know when they are doin it exactley what they are doing, they just dont care.If their families loved them, they would have raised them not to do these things, as mine did.these people threw away their own rights and should isolated from society like the blood-thirsty animals that they are.You obviously have not seen first-hand the hard, cold facts that are unfotunately part of our world.

"OK, this is easy! You catch an inmate with a cell phone - you bring him out to the yard and break his wrists right there in front of God and everybody! That would send out a message. No rights, no privelages! You are an inmate... you are property of the SC jail system. Show them who is boss! "
You obviously don't know or love anyone on the "inside". Everyone makes mistakes and deserves a second chance. The inmates that are doing this should be punished, but no all inmates go to prison and continue to do the wrong thing. Some of them try to rehabilitate themselves because SCDC sure doesn't help! They still don't have a right to "break their wrists"....Come on then they would be breaking the law and that would be inhumane. Also, these guys aren't the property of the SC jail...they are not property of anyone....these people have families and are someones son, daughter, husband, wife, mother, father, or friend. You need to remember how many people are in prison and then how many of those people have families and think about what you say before you say it. Don't ever comment on something you know NOTHING about.

You sound like an institutionalised inmate yourself.Maybe we would be safer and you would be happier if you were in there with them.

Did you bother to even look at the site before making such an assonine comment? Would you rather his organization not exist and the recidivism stays high in released inmates? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Remember when Ozmint took over he said Quote--"It's not a budget problem with corrections, it's a culture problem"! My,my,my how the tide changes! Sounded good at the time didn't it? FIVE years was plenty of time to establish his (no-experience) credibility if he was ever going to have any.

You must be a total idiot! You must not know reality because ANYBODY can get into trouble and it doesn't have a darn thing to do with how you were raised! You can be raised in a perfect family and get into trouble so don't hand me that bull. I never said they shouldn't be isolated from society. I think they should serve their time for doing their crime, but it still isn't fair to the families of these inmates. WE ARE NOT CRIMINALS AND WE DID NOTHING WRONG! It's people like you that ruin this world!

Let us take the "maybe" one step further.
Maybe if the criminals did not commit a crime maybe they would not be in prison. Than maybe their family would not accept high price phone calls from prisoners because they would not be in jail.
Maybe the families do not have to accept the charges from their inmate family member everytime they called.
Do you accept the charges? No, he/she has called already one time this month.
You are right about ONE thing...if they didn't commit the crime we wouldn't have to accept phone calls from them, but we are INNOCENT! We as family members did NOTHING wrong. And for your information YES...I did accept the call...I accept four calls everyday...not just once a month!

I'm sorry your boyfriend got locked up, but he IS in fact someone else's property now! Hate to break the news to you, but I have friends who work in the system, and he does belong to them now. Good luck with sharing that love!
That just goes to show how ignorant people can be! First of all he isn't my boyfriend. He is my HUSBAND and NO he isn't someone else's property. He is my husband and our daughters father! And for your friends..the only difference between them and him is that he got caught and they haven't....YET! And I do and will share my love with him because he will be home one day just like most of the inmates in the DOC and it's just stupid people like you that don't want to try to help them be better people while they are on the inside so when they get out they don't reoffend. It isn't even worth talking to someone who knows NOTHING about what they are talking about.

You, obviously, are the idiot here, and a fool as well.I have never been in prison and I never will be, because I am a mature, respectable adult who is responsible for his actions.People like your husband who are too lazy and too sorry to work and make a decent living and be productive members of society, are the ones who "ruin the world".Instead of laying up on his sorry ass calling you four times a day, he should be busting rocks twelve hours a day, seven days a week. Then there would be no recidivism rate,"spot-on", you idiot. If inmate's families are suffering and they don't think it's fair, then who do they have to blame? Their criminal family members, that's who. Your daughter would be better off without a criminal for a father. He is obviously unfit to be a parent, and thusly, his parental rights should be terminated and he should never be allowed to see her again, lest she turn out like him,a criminal. And with your convoluted way of thinking, maybe yours should be as well.Wake up,grow up,and face reality.

It don't matter how hard we try, these inmates are going to get this stuff. I think that the block at the prision will be the best thing. That way you can't get signal inside the jail. Heck, all you have to do is put on a metal roof on the prision. I know everywhere I go that has a metal roof, my phone no likey it. lol
everyone is blamming the officers for the cell phones in the prision system. but you dont need to blame the officer for this i have seen with my eyes packages being thrown over the fences at local instituion, the problem is that the person can not get caught before gettin off of SCDC property. the officer has no rights to stop the people throwing stuff across the fence once he or she is off the property

No offense, but your post is incoherent (at best). At the risk of making you have to rethink and rewrite your post, I have to say hat's about the only choice to get your point across.

I agree. There are those in prison who have learned their lesson and want to reform BUT until the sentence is served, there are certain things they do not need. They need food, clothing and shelter everything else is a WANT. We don't always get what we want even in the outside world. It may be hard but it is what it is.
