Thank you! I am glad you are still here too. I am wondering why the trolls keep coming back here. What are they getting out if it?
You're welcome. They're being entertained, lol. Also, as quiet as it's kept, they're fascinated with black people. They want to learn any and everything they can about us. The others are cowardly racists and this is their chance to spew their venom w/o getting their grill all busted up, lol.

But...but...they get punked out by us sharp blacks SO MUCH. Every day I see some spindly no-brain racist white boy being bytchslapped by a black woman or a black man here at Topix. Sometimes it has me laughing so hard I spray coffee on the monitor! They try everything and fail.

But you are right, they are FASCINATED by us. They always have been.

What makes Topix so different is that the racist trolls are not totally ignored here.

I still will not engage them, because I remember on other Black sites they would blather on and no one paid them any attention. We called it not feeding them, like stray dogs. It was considered beneath us to engage trolls.

I think they are obsessed with us due to their paternalistic treatment of Blacks historically. Since most of the Blacks here are descended from people that were forced to be here, they have always had to justify their mistreatment of Blacks by claiming we are inferior to them.

They come on here like the narcissistic people that they are, totally believing that just their whiteness somehow makes them better and above other races. Hence, they can excuse themselves for the genocide of Native Americans and the brutality against the Blacks that they were brought here by force to work for them.

People get the term African American, and black american wrong. Who should be considered which one? Personally, black americans should be the decendants of the first blacks who came to american. African American should be for Africans. Also, keeping to the term African American, its not a accurate term at all. Anyone with African roots can say they are African American, thats wrong, its like a assimilation thing in america, they group all African decendants togeter, its wrong. African American, the term, does not mean pure black, but so man black immigrants are coming here. I dont identify with them. Many dont want to be labeled AA anyway, and I can understand why. The label is faulty. Multigenerational black americans should be called black ameican to me. We are genetically different as well.

agree. in the futre we run the risk of having our struggles and accomplishments be attributed to another people just because of the misunderstanding of the word "african american." i don't agree that african american is what africans should be considered.

And what I have noticed is that the term African-American is used to describe people that aren't even American. It is being used to just described Blacks in general. I watched a program that was about a woman in South Africa , and the description of the program described her as African American, even though she was a "coloured" from South Africa that had never been to the US.

OMG I've noticed that too! I heard someone call Naomi Campbell the first African-American model to do something I was like WTF that woman is British! This is getting out of hand! I would honestly rather go back to negro or Colored than endure this ridiculousness any longer.

Why should WE cease calling OURSELVES 'African American' because other people are confused.

Any person of the Black race that is also an American can call themselves African American if they so chose, it is those who of not Black race people that should refrain from calling themselves 'African American.'

And, I repeat, the term 'African' in African American denotes the RACE of the person, not the nationality, or geographical location of the person's home, birth, etc.

And, I repeat, the term 'African' only denotes the RACE of the person BECAUSE, "African" is synonymous with "Black Race People".

"American" in the term "African American" denotes the nationality.

Therefore, the term "African American" denotes, the person's race:'African/Black' and the person's nationality,'American.'

And what's wrong with being Afrocentric? Everyone else is whatevercentric to their ethnicity, race, country, culture ...

Oh, but, I forgot, centuries of brainwashing and social conditioning still keeps many Black people seeing any loyalty, pride, or self-knowledge of the Black race as being a negative.

i remember someone saying we could not claim Benjamin Banneker because his parents were african! which is not totally correct anyway but how the hell can we not identify him as the same as ourselves and be proud of his accomplishments as a black american because he has african ancestry? dont most of us? yet and still we are AMERICAN. and so was he.

another instance is where people say that certain americans who have caribbean ancestry are not apart of us as black americans and we cannot be proud of them and their accomplishments either...

CRAZY!!!

it seems that some folk are confused about who we are as a people not to mention that many caribbean and island people migrated here hundreds of years ago and became apart of the same blk american apparatus the we are apart of.

yes, we better preserve our heritage and legacy. people are claiming our innovators and accomplishments already.

i think the term "african american" was most fitting for our dear african ancestors forced to this continent (bless their hearts)....but thereafter they were simply american for most all never saw the motherland ever again.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Taurus

Get involved in financial transactions at your peril under today's Lunar Eclipse, because certain people will use them as a stick to beat you with. For instance, if you ask someone to lend you money they'll either make you feel guilty about it or dredge up all sorts of past instances when their trust was betrayed. You would also be well advised to avoid any show of possessiveness or jealousy, even if you feel it, unless you truly don't care about the disastrous outcome.
