Republicans' 'liberal' attacks on Democrats losing their sting

For many election cycles, Democrats have had major problems with being tagged as tax-and-spend liberals. The "L word" was a motto used by Republican candidates to sink their Democratic rivals.

Guess what? The Republican brand may be the losing one in 2008. Even some Republicans are openly talking about it in the face of significant losses in recent special elections.

I THINK WE CAN DO WITHOUT BUSH AND MCCAIN'S TYPE OF FEAR-MONGERING THAT THEY CALL "EXPERIENCE" AND THEIR FAILED POLICIES THAT HAVE MADE IRAN STRONGER!

The Republicans aren’t doing so well lately.
What could be wrong? Maybe...

The economy going in to the toilet...$3.80+ for gasoline... TWO BOTCHED WARS, giving our troops tanks without much armor, providing substandard treatment in VA hospitals, making the U.S. a country that’s known around the world for TORTURING PEOPLE, then lying about it, doing NEARLY NOTHING ABOUT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, preaching on morals, then getting caught having sex in airport bathrooms.

Bush and McCain (McBUSH) have earned the new nickname, "REPUGnicans".

Even if the left was "tax and spend", wouldn't that be better than "cut tax and spend"?

Bush's admin has borrowed from China to support thier bribing of America. If you were fooled, low and behold, you'll be paying for your stupidty long after Bush is gone.

Meanwhile, he's grown government spending to levels we've never seen.

How many of you would run your household like Bush runs the U.S. Government. Increase the size of your household, increase spending, but cut your income....Brilliant. NOT.

It should be noted that "tax and spend" is the same as "pay as you go." Thanks to the Republican "borrow and spend" model, we are now indebted to China and have a raging deficit that will take multiple generations to balance.

Here's to Obama's win in 2008 and the dawn of a new age of enlightnement.

When the far right can no longer sing the praises of the people they put in office, what do they have left but attacks.

They'd been doing it for so long now, the attacks no longer hold water.

Hard to say dems like big gov, when they themselves have grown the gov to record levels.

Same goes with spending, nation building, etc.

REPUB STRATEGY: When your guys have failed at everything, attack those who haven't.

There will always be degenerate cowards who'll be manipulated by the Neocon political machine. If we can instill the public with clear morals, knowledge and courage, and get the dangerously ignorant down to less than 50% of the voting public, then this country might have a chance to regain its constitutional integrity and world respect.

Change is what is needed in this country now more than ever. Electing a 71 year old man, the oldest man as president, is NOT what this country needs.

Flip-flopping Senator John Sidney McCain would be more of the same George W Bush politics of war, hate and fear.

But aren't you afraid of the boogey man?? You know the boogey man has killed over 350,000 Americans last year alone. You should be very afraid. The government needs to tuck us all in at night and look under the bed to make sure the boogey man isn't at our house. We don't need to pay for it. Let the government just borrow to send all these soldiers out to keep us safe from the horrible boogey man.

We have to be smart enough to be afraid of the boogey man. You better check under your bed before you go to bed at night. Better yet, have the government come to your house to check for you. You don't want to be killed in the middle of the night by the boogey man do you??

The Constitution Party gratefully acknowledges the blessing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as Creator, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe and of these United States. We hereby appeal to Him for mercy, aid, comfort, guidance and the protection of His Providence as we work to restore and preserve these United States.
This great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been and are afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.
The goal of the Constitution Party is to restore American jurisprudence to its Biblical foundations and to limit the federal government to its Constitutional boundaries.
The Constitution of the United States provides that "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." The Constitution Party supports the original intent of this language. Therefore, the Constitution Party calls on all those who love liberty and value their inherent rights to join with us in the pursuit of these goals and in the restoration of these founding principles.
The U.S. Constitution established a Republic rooted in Biblical law, administered by representatives who are constitutionally elected by the citizens. In such a Republic all Life, Liberty and Property are protected because law rules.
We affirm the principles of inherent individual rights upon which these United States of America were founded:
• That each individual is endowed by his Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are the rights to life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness;
• That the freedom to own, use, exchange, control, protect, and freely dispose of property is a natural, necessary and inseparable extension of the individual's unalienable rights;
• That the legitimate function of government is to secure these rights through the preservation of domestic tranquility, the maintenance of a strong national defense, and the promotion of equal justice for all;
• That history makes clear that left unchecked, it is the nature of government to usurp the liberty of its citizens and eventually become a major violator of the people's rights; and
• That, therefore, it is essential to bind government with the chains of the Constitution and carefully divide and jealously limit government powers to those assigned by the consent of the governed.

I personally respect John McCain, but realize that he must now flip-flop to appease the party that he represents.

Regardless of my opinion concerning McCain, I do not respect the current Republican Party, and that's why McCain will not get my vote. I do not trust the immoral, arrogant & ignorant Neocons to run a lemonade stand, much less my country.

Frankly, part of the problem is the 'morality' that is going around today.
Frankly, there are only three real morals in this world: do not kill another person for ANY reason, do not steal from another person unless it is your last choice between you and death, and do not force someone into sexual situations or actions with force or threats of physical force.
That is IT as to the 'morality' that people should adhere to.

The problem is not that 50% of people are 'dangerously ignorant' either. The problem is that most people, when they see a person saying "I am doing X thing to protect the children and this country!" automatically believe them instead of looking at the past and realizing "What the F***? This is the same shit that we tried in the past, that just made things WORSE in this country!"

Liberal ideas in American history:

Independence from England
Abolition of Slavery
Women's right to vote
Social Security
Medicare
Free Public Education
Civil Rights for all Americans

Seems to me that the best we have accomplished is from liberal ideas. Some of these were the result of Republicans. Too bad modern day Republicans cannot embrace these themes.

Republicans have proven themselves to be the party of false morality and economic incompetence. They only care about getting the religious freaks fired up and giving the rich more ways to avoid paying taxes.

It is safe to say that neither party really represents the average American.

You're so right, OneRyder. This guy is not "conservative" by any definition of the term. He's expanded government, while shrinking only its comptetence. All the while refusing to pay for anything, putting it all on our tab to China. The camera-in-every-bedroom Santorumism he espouses should be anathema to every true conservative as well. We have suffered through the most miserable failure of leadership we have ever known. Thank god these losers are going to be packing up soon.

A appreciate your response. I don't consider myself moderate, but defintely not conservative. But still, it's hard to debate with those Bush fans that think they are defending what conseratives once push for, keep gov small, so taxes can stay small with it.

I don't think smart fiscal spending is owned by any party. I think we've seen examples from both. The Dems have pushed "pay as you go" more than Repubs lately, because Repubs latched their support lines onto Bush, and didn't want to upset the ship.

But its because of that, that Repubs are facing diaster in the fall. Makes it hard for them to detach from Bush now, after they claimed he was a conservative. Now, no one wants another Bush-league Conservative in office.

Bush has done to the Repub party, what Carter did to Dems.
