I don't blame you though... I blame 500 years of Affirmative Action that us White people have been getting. It's also called economic conquest, but I think you all are more familiar with Affirmative Action.
500 years of it has made it so the military, economy, media, and politics are all controlled STILL by White people.
My Dad is 70 and he grew up in Kentucky/So Indiana and didn't believe in segregation, but he still has hella racist ideas! Just imagine all the arses that were his age and DID believe in it... we're talking people that were still Ticked off in 1970 that they had to share movie theaters or schools with Black people.
Those people or their children ARE STILL the power elite in our country and they STILL HOLD RACIST THOUGHTS! And we are STILL in control of the economy, media, military and government.
There is definitely something to be said about 'personal responsibility' but there are systemic problems and policies that were born in blatantly racist eras that prevail today.
As White people, as the people STILL in power, we need to do what we can to a)recognize there is a widespread problem that results in systematic and widespread oppression and poverty.
b)talk with those experiencing these problems
and c) work very hard with our Black sisters and brothers to help solve this problem that has plagued our country for so long and have tainted the beliefs and practices of liberty, justice, and equality.
