I dont think Oklahoma puts too many people in jail, probably not enough. I have seen burglary, fraud and hit and runs completely ignored, make a report and the Okc police do nothing, okc had better get prepared for vigilantes if they continue to ignore crimes<quoted text>
If TX don't allow it take up trip across the border to Oklahoma and strap the helmet on back. Sometimes I have to count my blessings, no helmet law here. We got lots of Indian casinos too if you like to gamble. But for god's sake don't do anything illegal here, we throw way too many people in jail. We seem to be really good at that.

An excellent example of I never cared much for pot. Neither did my friend. But when she was in the battle of her life fighting cancer (which she eventually lost) pot gave her a little relief from the treatments and gave her a little appetite. She was arrested for possession (although the charges were later dropped) and she had to swear to not use it again or face incarceration. But she was on a steady dosage of morphine..which did nothing for her nausea or loss of appetite. Makes a lot of sense... |

Well yes, every service member is, by definition, somewhat more likely to be blown up than the average person. Also someone who, by definition, doesn't mind the idea of killing people too. At least, not unless they are laughably naive and think the military has some other purpose. So perhaps there's an argument for service personnel being logged on a database that is, it must be admitted, open to anyone with sufficient computer skills. Or simple human error as often happens. The fact is there is no need to take DNA from every person arrested. Nothing. You might mount an argument that every person convicted of a violent crime has shown a willingness to hurt people - just like anyone who signs up to the military has shown a willingness to hurt people - but not the average joe. And thank all that's holy that my country, if apparently no longer yours, is still absolutely opposed to the State tracking and monitoring citizens. And since we have less violent crime I see no possible reason to abandon that fundamental principle of being free from State interference for the path of madness thanks. |

DNA analysis for the purpose of identification is a tool; neutral as fingerprints, retina scans, etc. Law forbids the use of DNA to deny medical care or employment. Such discrimination based on what inherited vulnerabilities to disease one individual may have is ludicrous anyway, since every single human being on Earth has plenty of them, and whether or not, how severely or when they might be expressed is unknown for most of them. Irrelevant.
The paranoia out there about collecting DNA databases seems silly to me for the simple reason that there are two sides to what DNA can do for an individual accused of a crime. Are you forgetting that DNA can exonerate the falsely accused? Criminals hurt people. So do false convictions. DNA is nothing but a generally useful tool that can help protect people from criminals and from some injustices. This hysteria is nonsense. |

Actually, DNA evidence can also be used to establish INNOCENCE.For my part, I would not like to be convicted of a crime which I did not commit, and if they had my DNA, I could be ruled out as a suspect.Anyway, they've already got my prints and mugshot, so goody gumdrops.

1 Yes, true. However, simply taking a DNA sample everytime someone is arrested is a bit ridiculous. All too often cases are not pursued and the money should not be wasted, nor should the privacy be invaded. |
