Air Force officers relieved of duty over loose nukes
A six-week probe into the mistaken flight of nuclear warheads across the country uncovered a "lackadaisical" attention to detail in day-to-day operations at the air bases involved in the incident, an Air Force official said Friday.

The procedures for accounting for thermonuclear weapons were designed to be 'fail-safe'. They could not be circumvented. Same goes for procedures which preclude a detonation of a weapon. Same standards, same planning, same oversight.
It's remarkable that the buck stopped at the rank of colonel. Accountability was at the Pentagon level. The guys who drive the bus and deliver the mail got canned; perhaps the generals will quietly retire. |

Right.
Please SHOW ME the USAF pilot, copilot, and aircrew who =DON'T= know that they are carrying a load of NUCLEAR material in the name of CRUISE MISSILES under their wings/in the bays of their about-to-be-flown aircraft. PLEASE DO SHOW ME! This so-called 'news story' is nothing other than a cover for what =REALLY= happened: Someone found out about the illegal movement of arms, and =responsibly= reported the matter to the local media. |

You got that right! So far it seems that Cheney ordered a covert operation to load them up. And when some true American's alerted officials and the press, they were all set to go to an airfield near Iran. So gee, I wonder what they'd be used for? And what a childish story to try covering up the incident. I mean the top level clearance needed to get nuclear weapons released from such a highly secured area, move and attach them to a jet, then transport them, didn't just "happen". To make it sound like gee, they were just laying around and got loaded on a jet, oops, is just plain stupid. |

You are most correct! The American people have been asleep for so long, and drugged into stupidity by MainStream Media/Government propaganda, that it's a wonder the story was even allowed to be known. Or maybe? Maybe they decided to put that story out to see who is =actually= paying attention? But, I wonder: How many of my fellow Americans are still asleep, and how many more will continue to believe the propagated lies in the name of 'patriotism?' Remember: Patriotism is =the= last refuge of the scoundrel. Keep the current presidential adminstration in mind, when considering that defintion. |

Someone posted earlier that the warheads were secretly headed to an X-soviet state by a radical faction of the U.S. government to be aimed at Russia and Iran but the plan was folded by a military official. It sounds like one of them conspiracy movies. What's your take, fellas? |

Never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence.:)
Seriously, though, this is very suspicious. |

The probe into the incident, which ended this week, lists five errors -- all of them procedural failures to check, verify and inspect, Newton said

Think about it: Why would Iran be targeting Russia? Why would Russia be targeting Iran? There's no connection. In any case, why play dumb? US military aircraft are not invincible, and can be detected, even if employing whatever latest tech to disguise their presence, regardless faking another nation's commercial aircraft. So, let the US leadership play dumb, and launch the next world war. I guarantee this: The leaders of the plot won't live a year —if that— beyond their grand plan. |

Good comments guys. Very interesting. I wonder if Admiral Fallon had anything to do with stopping this incident. Is he a good guy? He seems to be determined not to go to war with Iran.

What's really troubling is they admitted that, for this mistake to happen, several key individuals must have missed their assignments !!! This is beginning to more 'n more sound like a grand plot gone wrong. There's talk that the plane was diverted back to the U.S. |

That's the big question. Although not just Admiral Fallon, who in the military will stop Bush & Cheney from taking over the entire country and setting up a full blown dictatorship? On May 9, 2007 President Bush issued two new presidential directives, National Security Presidential Directive/NSPD 51 and Homeland Security Presidential Directive/HSPD -20. According to the White House press release,“This directive establishes a comprehensive national policy on the continuity of Federal Government structures and operations and a single National Continuity Coordinator responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of Federal continuity policies. This policy establishes ‘National Essential Functions,’ prescribes continuity requirements for all executive departments and agencies, and provides guidance for State, local, territorial, and tribal governments, and private sector organizations in order to ensure a comprehensive and integrated national continuity program that will enhance the credibility of our national security posture and enable a more rapid and effective response to and recovery from a national emergency.” In case you do not understand governmental gobbly-gook, it says that in the case of a “catastrophic emergency”[The president gets to decide when a national emergency should be declared. He also gets to decide when the emergency is finished.] Bush has granted himself the power to run the entire federal government without any checks and balances, in other words dictatorial powers. The document states that,“The President shall lead the activities of the Federal Government for ensuring constitutional government.” And these presidential directives will only be implemented in the event of an emergency as defined as “any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government function.” According to the directives, the emergency could include,“localized acts of nature, accidents, and technological or attack-related emergencies.” In effect, anything from a hacker attack, an earthquake, hurricane, or another 9/11 type attack could trigger the declaration of a national emergency. According to the directives, he would be assisted by the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism who will create a National Continuity Implementation Plan. This person will become the National Continuity Coordinator. The implementation plan will guide not only the federal government, but also “state, local, territorial, and tribal governments, and private sector owners and operators of critical infrastructure.” The plan will impact all government functions at any level and many private sector functions as well, including communications. The directives also give a prominent role to the Vice-President. With Dick Cheney assisting the president, what do we have to worry about? Even though the new position of National Continuity Coordinator carries tremendous powers, it appears that the job can be filled by the president without the consent of Congress, without hearings, or any interference by the legislative branch. Even the declaration of the national emergency does not appear to require any Congressional action or oversight. In fact the new presidential directives make no reference whatsoever to Congress and any effective role of the legislature. But why would a dictator want to be bothered by a pesky legislature? This is NO joke, you can look them up yourself. So contact your House Representative(s) and demand they IMPEACH Bush AND Cheney before it’s too late. |
Thank God the founding fathers gave us a constitutional right to bear arms. |

I heard thru the grapevine that this was actually done to see if it could be done. I heard it was no mistake, no error. Imagine... exactly what that means.

So right! This was an important safeguard our founding fathers were wise enough to add to the Bill Of Rights. And there are 302,246,832 people in America. Does Bush, Cheney, and the rest of the goon squad think they can hide from all of us? |

Lance, Not to argue with you, but: The founders didn't ~give~ any of us give a thing. Rather, they made =damned sure= we had all that we needed to get by in this world. And, in the way of rights? They made sure that there were a few words in that regard put to parchment, just in case the disgusting equivocating SOB's which occupy high office might dissemble as they do presently. Remember: They didn't =GIVE= us our rights. Rather, they made damned sure that we'd know about them, should we suddenly awaken, and discover the perfidy about the land! Virtually =ALL= rights are a foregone conclusion. Remember that, for as long as you may live, and be kind and responsible enough to pass the word! |

I wouldn't be surprised if they spread this roumor to create yet another cover-up. I'm telling you, this thing is way beyond just a test. Someone was moving this things to the east and they got busted. This is more evident by Putin's recent warning that no ex-soviet country should be used in launching attacks against anyone. |

You are all so funny. I was feeling a little down tonight but then I came across all of your post on cover ups and the vice president having something to do with it. Wow thanks for making me laugh you guys are so funny. One second there incompetant the next there pulling an organized cover up you guys and your stories.

I have to agree with that. There was blame all the way to the tip-top level, for allowing people on OTHER occasions to circumvent the instructions that were made to keep nukes from 'disappearing' or being sent to a place where they weren't supposed to go. That falls on the heads of the base commanders and generals. |
|
Oh yeah well I heard it was done to cause a diversion to cover up the fact that we didn't land on the moon, or that the world is flat, no it was to stop people from knowing that comet beederman is going to hit us.
