But then again, the Bush administration really never paid much attention to the Consitiution anyhow.
Sep 22, 2008
Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson draft proposal for the bailout of struggling financial-services firms sought to make himself the most powerful unelected official in American history through his proposal to take charge of vast sectors of the U.S. economy -- setting policy, buying and selling assets, determining whether financial institutions thrive or collapse -- with no oversight.
Under Paulson's draft plan, Congress and the courts would have been barred from reviewing or challenging his moves to stabilize financial markets -- effectively making him the nation's economic czar.

4 Exactly! Obama's biggest support came from Fanny May and Freddy Mack. He got over 120,000 dollars from these crooks. Hell, board members Raines and Johnson are on his campaign. More change we can do without. Right on Chucky. |

4 But at this point, after what we've experienced, we know better than to give the Bush Administration a blank check. No President should be above accountability, least of all the current one. Congress needs to take the time to think the bailout through, set up necessary regulations and accountability, and take steps that will not only help the Wall Street types, but also Main Street and working Americans. And above all, make Bush and his merry band verify, justify, stand accountable for everything. No giveaways for his fat cat friends and donors. |

2 To answer your question: because he works for G. W. Bush. That’s why he dares. Unfortunately something does need to be done, but any bailout plan should start with a thorough housecleaning of the administration – starting with G. W. The second part would be to require any bank needing to be bailed out to clean their own management out – with severe financial penalties for those who were in charge. I don’t mean “find out who was doing wrong”. If an ordinary person (who doesn’t have much money) has bad luck and gets sick and can’t pay his mortgage, he or she probably looses their house and becomes “poor”. Why should it be different for rich corporate managers? Fire them! Cut off their “golden parachutes”. Make them “poor”. Don’t look for “corruption”. Those who were in charge should take responsibility for what happened. Isn’t that what Capitalism is supposed to be about?“Everyone is supposed to be responsible for themselves”, they are always chanting. It is time the corporate elite shows some responsibility. |

4 There are all kinds of rulings this Paulson is demanding. Like NO legal repercussions to his involvement, if things get Real bad! He is NOT an elected representative, but he wants to take charge of the ONE Trillion (so far) to dish out to who he deems! All around the world, not just the USA!! OUR American Backs (tax money). Question: How can the US afford to bail out anyone, other than our selves,(like the HIGH Interest rates on our credit cards), when the government keeps whining that their not sure what the status of our Social Security and Medicare, etc, that we've all put $$$$$ in for years. How can they Bail out these Rats??? Something is Very Fishy here!!! Why are some of these companies going to the banking system? Will that mean their current (most likely crooked) books will be "gone"??? And why did chris Dodd, tell wolf blizter that he couldn't tell what he heard (behind closed doors) HOW Bad it is?!!? As Jerry says, and I AGREE. We are adults, and the taxpaying public, WE DESERVE TO GET REAL ANSWERS, AND NUMBERS! These people in congress and senate, better not allow this bail out! At least ONE TRILLION DOLLARS, MAYBE MORE, IT COULD GET WORSE, Henry Paulson, go to hell, tell those companies to get a loan from their good buddies around the world, I don't want to bail your crooked asses out! And if you'd monitor the stupid credit card rates, maybe we could pay them off, and actually buy something to keep the economy going! |

2 We should SUE all of these screw-ups in the government! How much more are the american people going to take? How long do we let them SH*T all over us? The audacity! unbelievable. The majority of them have allowed this to happen! Time for jail, I think. But they will cover their Asses! Oh, I didn't do anything to screw you guys up! Yeah, right, Where's all the money everyone paid into government programs that are supposed to benefit us? Yeah, I'm sure we know! And Dodd wouldn't tell what the dire circumstances are! You tell us! You are not representative to anyone other than the US taxpayer! |

1 I cannot believe that we are on the brink of an economic collapse that will make the republican great depression of the 1930's look like losing your lunch money, and there are STILL idiots in here slamming Obama and pushing the neotard agenda. Racists, religious nuts, the retarded and the rich. The republican Four "R" Club. |
