It was stupid in the first place to argue for more food stamps and more "unemployment insurance" when unemployment is only 5.0 percent. News flash: If you can't find a job of any type for 26 weeks when unemployment is 5.0 percent, it's not because the economy is bad!

Making a stupid demand and then demanding a concession for withdrawing it, is not good faith negotiating. Tax rebates should go to the people who paid the taxes.

I'm not sure I understood this correct -$ 300 and $ 1200 will survive the economy? Ha ha ha ha.
Wher the $$$$ numbers come from?
Mr. Bush and Lawmakers - your suggestion is worth exactly -$ 0.01.
Get really life and be the President of USA, not President of Iraq and Afganistan.
You are big joke Mr. President. I respected you, but after so many years dealing with China, India and creating economy there, go obver there and be President there. We need President Full Time not partime.
You are lost. I'm happy you will be gone next few months.

amen on the rebates to "taxpayers", but that will never happen. 10% flat tax rate would definitely benefit the working class, but the lower class and upper class (read.... illegals and politicians) would be hurting for sure.

Well at least they dropped the food stamps and unemployment additions. Too bad they are going to still give tax rebates to people that didn't actually pay any taxes. It is a just a check given out with the hope that peolple will go out and buy some crap with it. The downside of a consumer based economy.

If I understood Nancy Pelosi correctly, if you earned and payed taxes on over $9000.00 last year then you should be seeing a $600.00 check if single,$1200.00 for couples and $300.00 more for each child.

Well I think if you are married you will get $600, and if you have a child too that would mean $900. Please don't quote me on that, but that is how I understood it to read. God bless.

"Tax rebates should go to the people who paid the taxes." Yeah not the ones that get rebates back at the end of year anyways.

For all those complaining about what a small ammount it is, Ill give you my home address and you can just mail me a money order.

I aint complaining.

Wife and I have payed in TAXES for 15 years (no kids or huge home loans) Have always filed joint and just did what were supposed to do.

So if I get a bigger check than miss's single mom that JUST HAPPENST TO rub in my face every year about how much she gets back? to damn bad.

I never understood the "POOR" logic OF I dont want to better myself because Ill have to move out of low income housing, Ill have to give up free medical for my kids, And I wont get alot of money back at the end of the year??? What the hell.
And before you say I dont understand, Ill have you know those powdered eggs, big blocks of cheese, can meatball stew, and powder milk drinks were not all that bad growing up with a single mom..

I BROKE THE POOR CYCLE.

Once I saw Pelosi and Bush both offering to solve the problems of the universe I knew we were in for a fantastic journey of wonder and surreal imagination.

It wasn't all that long ago that Americans got their last "rebate" checks to fix the economy. They worked so good that a couple years later we have to do the same thing again, to fix the economy that didn't get fixed by the first rebate checks.
Looks like tinkle down economics isn't what it's cracked up to be. Next!

I love this tax rebate BS.

A few years ago when they did this, my parents didn't see a single dime... because my sister was in college. If you have a child in college, they tell you that you're receiving a tax deductable for it already and you don't get one cent. So to all you proud parents out there seeing your kid make something of themselves... you're not getting a thing!

I also love how our government works. If you're single and struggling to live on your own... you get the least amount back. The more your wife opens her legs... the more money you get back.

I remember my buddy telling me about his tax return last year. I was $3000 below the poverty line... I got $1200 back. He and his wife have 2 kids... both work 50-60 hours a week. They EACH got back over $10,000.

I hate this f'n country sometimes. Be nice if ONE person in Congress or the Senate had a damn brain in their heads. Because I'm smart enough to set MY life before having a family I get penalized for it? Screw them!

Unemployment statistics only count the number of people currently accepting unemployment benefits, not all the people currently out of work.

Here's a news flash for you, in some parts of the country, people can't even get jobs washing dishes, working retail, stocking shelves, sweeping floors, let alone any white collar work. there just aren't any jobs in some parts of the nation. Just because there may be jobs available where you are, does not make it universally so across the country. Try and think a little further than your nose and be a little more considerate to some of those who are less fortunate than you.
