You understand of course that McCain has changed his position on every hot-button issue since he sought the power of the presidency, right?

The president who was most ably assisted by the media was Reagan; they capriciously ignored the malfeasance and incompetency that poured off him like pus from an abcess. The "Great Communicator" who never said a word that wasn't written for him or planted by his harpy wife Nancy.

By comparison, Obama is getting far rougher treatment. What appears to be the press's love affair with him is really just the reality that covering McCain is like covering drying paint. His views are known and he doesn't do anything particularly interesting or relevant. Which is more newsworthy--a biracial presidential candidate who goes out and does things or another rich white republican who plays it safe?

If the press does go after McCain, he would be in far more trouble. He has trouble remembering important facts, he is not a good speaker, ad he comes across as a mixture of Ronnie in his second term (doddering and deteriorating) and Bob Dole (unlikeable and sour). So be careful of what you wish for.
The Mendicant wrote:
A PRAYER TO THE 527s
Barack Obama has been busy, of late, changing position after position, in an effort to fashion a new image before the American people. And, true to form, he has the “Audacity to Hope” that the American public is too uninformed to recognize what has become increasingly obvious; that his only core conviction, is to gain access to the power of the Presidency. And, it has become increasingly evident throughout his campaign, that he will do anything, say anything, change any position, and jettison any friend or supporter, in order to gain that power.
The Fraudulent One is secure in the knowledge that his lemmings will blindly and obediently support his every move. They will gallantly argue for any position he holds, and when he changes that position, they will argue, just as vociferously, for that new position. Bud sadly, for the Fraudulent One, he knows that his lemmings are not enough in number to secure his election, and deliver to him the power he so ravenously craves. So, the Fraudulent One knows he must now con the great sea of “undecideds” into believing that he is a centrist; that he is “one of them”-- hence his recent “move to the center,” which is actually more of a temporary and politically expedient “detour,” than a real change of character or positions. Fortunately for the Fraudulent One, in this great battle for the hearts and minds of the American public, he has a powerful ally; the mainstream media. Yes, the same media that decided long ago that the Fraudulent One would be our President, is doing everything in their power to assist him in his unholy quest.
So Verily, I say unto you, oh 527s, that you take unto yourselves that most Holy task of doing for the American public what that mainstream media will not do – VET BARACK OBAMA. For the good of our country and for the sake of our families, expose the Truth about the Fraudulent One – that truth which he so desperately needs to hide from the American public in order to gain power. Expose his lack of experience; expose his political naivete; expose his lies; expose his duplicity; expose his arrogance; expose his treachery; expose his radical beliefs; expose his radical associations; expose his adherence to a dangerous and racist theology -- expose the Fraudulent One for the man that he is, so that the American people can make an educated choice in one of the most grave and consequential elections in American history. Yes, 527s, I implore you to take unto yourselves this most Holy task; to help us preserve and enhance our way of life, and to assist in delivering us from this evil.
AMEN

I rather doubt that Goethe would approve of your use of his words, since he would consider you terrible indeed.

Here is a quote that seems appropriate, given Fallen nature of so many on this thread.

......."We believe that man was created in holiness, under the law of his Maker; but by voluntary transgression fell from that holy and happy state; in consequence of which all mankind are now sinners, not by constraint, but choice; being by nature utterly void of that holiness required by the law of God, positively inclined to evil; and therefore under just condemnation to eternal ruin, without defense or excuse".......

It's another way of passively conceding defeat when you don't really have the balls to actively concede the debate. In other words, don't actually respond to any point or refute anything, don't be adult enough to admit when you're outclassed, just keep either a) calling names directly (troll, deviant, zealot) or b) using a quote to call names indirectly.
And of course, the pinnacle of irony - post quotes about 'ignorance' to the very people who are holding up their end of the debate by citing historical fact, medical fact, legal precedence, logical progressions of thought, the constitution, etc when all you've got in your quiver is "Yeah, but....you're stoopid. Yeah, but.....what about those cute little babies?"
All systems of morality are fine. The gospel alone has exhibited a complete assemblage of the principles of morality, divested of all absurdity. It is not composed, like your creed, of a few common-place sentences put into bad verse. Do you wish to see that which is really sublime? Repeat the Lord's Prayer.

So, now you're stalking him? Wow. Cpetr, better start locking your doors...

You haven't even attempted a rational argument in at least a day. You've clearly given up on winning this debate but can't bear to leave the thread as the loser, so now you're just calling names...and, apparently, stalking those who have frustrated you the most by not blindly accepting your word as The Truth.

Another rational, logical, fact-based argument from the PL side. I'm sure glad that they don't use emotional manipulation and religion to make their points, and rely on pure logic!

I've yet to see anything to refute my contention that all you've got in your arsenal is variations of "yeah but....you're immoral" and "yeah but....you're stoopid." Now we've even sunk to toilet humor about 'brown eyes.'

On Cpetr13's behalf. I'll have to save this one for responses to all of the other personal insult-slinging posts that seem to fly around:

Yawn. You grow tiresome.

When you have an actual argument to make other than "you're stoopid" and "you're going to hell," get back to us. You gave up on winning this debate ages ago, now you're just wasting everyone's time by searching for more ways to say "you're a dummy" while not refuting anything or making any valid points. It's become a bore.

Why would I give a crap what the calvary hill baptist church thinks?

It does point out the essential creed of christers--that people are all scum unless they believe precisely what the christers do. Man is not capable of anything without a boost from the invisible friend in the sky.
