Excellent points Jimi, yes they will bend back far, I mean 14-16 billion in debt? Taxes increasing? Why not just allow Professor reconquista Navarro to be Governor? Schwarzenegger just said the debt has nothing to do with illegal aliens.Typical of LA, the capitol of the third world. Watch how far back they bend in defense of anarchy and the lack of rule of law. Apparently it is more important for them to take care of foreign nationals than it is to do anything that may benefit the citizenry. By their actions, they tell a story of how elected officials have become so corrupted that they work harder for illegal aliens than they do for the folks that elected them. They need to be removed from power and prosecuted for derelection of duty and the refusal to honor the US constitution.

How many INSPECTORS for the Entire United States to check the I-9 probility one on a part time basics who checks one or two a week for spelling and grammmer and if each Block has something if required---correct or not---never mind False SSn # used or stolen or false/forged documents--just check to see if the form has something in the required blocks to be filled in. Whatever---does not effect the many Million of Illegal Aliens who are employed other than their Employers filling some junk on another form so if an Inspector ever actually got around to look at the I-9 they would have something on file. |

Thank you Ray Acuna, powerfull stuff and unfortunately true. I am puzzled about something. I went to school, as a California native with a lot of Mexican kids, some American Indians, etc. We ran cross-country, went to football games, etc. This was some thirty years ago, it is true. What happened to all of those smart people? It's amazing that only guys like Villaraigossa, and some of the kooks in L.A. City and County Government are so anti-American, even anti-poor, as McIntyre pointed out.

Actually I meant to say that with all of the intelligent Mexicans, and some American Indians I went to school with some moons ago, clowns like Villaraigossa, etc. are the only people we have to choose from to manage a city the size of Los Angeles. Where are all those American Mexicans, native Indians, etc. who seemed to care about the U.S. and not some foreign nation that everyone in the world knows is corrupt beyond belief? Maybe they were too honest to go into government.

Probably part of the silent majority. I have/had lots of hispanic friends, as did my folks, in the 50's, 60's and 70's. I think it's mainly the newer generations and most recently immigrated (legal or otherwise) who have taken on this way of thinking (reconquista/la raza, etc.). My SIL is 2nd generation from Mexico, speaks PERFECT English, is an RN and is one of the nicest human beings I've ever met (not to mention a GREAT cook!)...and is very American in her loyalty to the US. An upstanding citizen as were both her parents. And, it takes a special (note, special doesn't mean honest or likeable in my vocab) type to run for office. |

It would only take 2-3 strong and pricey enforcements to large companies, a couple of times a year for the other business to sit up and take notice. If my competitor is slammed hard, in the pocket, for NOT thoroughly checking the validity of these docs, and is found to have hired more than one illegal alien per year...I am going to cross my T's and dot my I's very, very carefully so as not to suffer the same fate. Passports are probably the key. SS#'s are voluntary, you need not provide one to get an I-9 filed out. "Section 1, Employee: This part of the form must be completed at the time of hire, which is the actual beginning of employment. Providing the Social Security number is voluntary, except for employees hired by employers participating in the USCIS Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify). The employer is responsible for ensuring that Section 1 is timely and properly completed." Problem is, this is rarely, if ever, done. |

Do you want a immigration policy ! YES or NO ??

Since when does one particular group of people, in this case illegal aliens, get SPECIAL priviledges over other citizens???? Letting them get away with things that ordinary citizens cant, constitutes discrimination. And quite frankly I am sick of this!!!! They break a FEDERAL law by coming here illegally and then they get rewarded for it by not paying taxes, getting free educations, using medical facilities, etc and all because you bleeding heart idiot liberals think its mean and cruel???? Give me a break!!! They all need to be sent home. Let them fix their own country and stop impossing, using, and breaking the law here. LA should be ashamed of itself. The money they do earn is sent out of the country on top of it. When are you people going to get a CLUE?????

Until Crowdifornia enforces immigration laws it will never be able to balance the budget. You can't have millions of illegal alien parasites draining our resources without paying taxes and expect a balanced budget. There is no free lunch. Cheap illegal labor isn't free. Taxpayers foot the bill for every single illegal immigrant. The only way California will ever clean up this mess is to vote out ALL politicians that pander to pro illegal groups. They took an oath to uphold and enforce our laws against all enemies, foreign and domestic. It's time to vote the bums out!

Sorry its too late to save Mexifornia |

It is NEVER to late! NEVER! Oklahoma passed laws that began on Jan 1st and 100,000 illegals have now left Oklahoma in 3 months. At that rate CA could become "illegal free" in a couple of years.
Here's something else that will help: Programs in New York and Arizona aimed at cutting the prison sentences of certain immigrant inmates so they can be deported faster have federal officials urging other states to adopt similar policies. Officials in the two states say they have saved millions by turning over for early deportation some non-violent immigrant criminals who have served at least half of their sentences. Eligible inmates include both legal immigrants (legal immigrants with valid green cards who commit crimes can be deported)who committed certain crimes and illegal immigrants. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials say the federal government also saves money when immigrant inmates get sent home early, and hopes to expand the program in the next few months. "This program does not apply to your rapists, your murderers, your serious criminals," says Julie Myers, homeland security assistant secretary for ICE. Myers says it costs an average of $95 a day for the federal government to detain and house illegal immigrants before deportation. The accelerated deportation policy "reduces the amount of time aliens are in our custody," she says. "It reduces the amount of time our lawyers have to spend prosecuting cases in immigration court." ICE has been targeting illegal immigrants with criminal convictions, and the related costs are growing. Last year, 164,000 immigrant criminals were placed into deportation proceedings, up from 64,000 in 2006, Myers says. Under the accelerated deportation programs, only those inmates who are eligible for deportation and won't fight their removal from the country can participate. If the deportee returns to the USA and is caught, the immigrant will serve the remainder of the original sentence plus prison time for any new criminal offenses. The illegal immigrant may also face a separate felony conviction for returning after being deported and up to 20 years in prison. It would be up to each state to iron out specific eligibility requirements, such as how much of the sentences must be served before inmates are eligible, Myers says. In Florida, Republican State Sen. Mike Bennett says he plans to introduce legislation next week to bring the program to his state. About 2,500 inmates would qualify, he says. "These people are going to be deported when they get done anyhow," he says. "Why not speed the process and get them out of here?" Since December 2005, 1,300 Arizona inmates have been turned over to ICE for deportation under the policy, says Nolberto Machiche, spokesman for the state Department of Corrections. The state has saved more than $17 million as a result because it no longer has to house the criminals, he says. New York's program began in 1995, says Erik Kriss, spokesman for New York State Department of Correctional Services. Through December, nearly 2,000 inmates had been deported under the program for a savings of $141 million. The inmates were turned over to ICE for deportation an average of 27.4 months before completing their minimum sentences, he says. |

We should put Sheriff Joe Arpaio in charge.
He has an uncanny way of cutting through the red tape and crap to fix the problem in a reasonable and common sense manner. |

Thanks cjl, that was a good post and I absolutely agree with you. If Americans have the WILL to bring back DEMOCRACY, where WE actually have a say on immigration, since it is us it affects, we could turn things around. As it now stands, politicians are getting in the way of millions of Americans and we have less influence over our lives as taxpayers than illegal aliens and Mexico do. Something is terribly wrong here, how dense are some citizens that they can't see it?

The mayor and his knights of the illegal alien round table don't care about the tax paying legal citizens of this city, this is why california is loosing residents by the thousands to other states. Give it time LA will be north Mexico and Villaragoosa will be it's KING!!! Stand up people and take part in taking back your cities and counties. If you don't you are as much the problem as the mayor and his cronies!!!

I agree. Thanks for all of your posts, cjl. Brad Sherman's Town Hall Meeting this Sunday is at Reseda High School from 2:00-3:30 PM. However, here's his voting record on illegal immigration from Ontheissues.org . Doesn't look promising: Voted NO on building a fence along the Mexican border.(Sep 2006) Voted NO on reporting illegal aliens who receive hospital treatment.(May 2004) Voted YES on extending Immigrant Residency rules.(May 2001) Voted NO on more immigrant visas for skilled workers.(Sep 1998) Rated 0% by FAIR, indicating a voting record loosening immigration.(Dec 2003) Rated 8% by USBC, indicating an open-border stance.(Dec 2006) The Dream Act was derailed because of phones calls and emails coordinated by groups like NumbersUSA. That's how we win this battle. Get involved. |

You failed to answer the question directly, but based on your spelling and grammar I will assume you were indeed educated in CA. Machismo attitudes predate the arrival of the Catholic Church in the Americas. |
