5 months until November.
The Democrats got elected to a majority in Congress in 2006. Since then they have put the economy into a steep decline to deliberately make Bush look bad so they could swing the upcoming election. Vote the bums out!

It would be nice if the government would just get out of the way of business. 36 billion dollars, man that's a lot of money.
Taxes must come out of the 36 billion. Dividends to the stock holders get their share [you know people on pensions and 401k's and profit share's]. Up keep on the billions of dollar's worth of equipment world wide to produce and pump and transport and store and refine and hire more labor to meet demand and fund the employees health plans and their retirement plan's and pay off the Dictator so your oil platform's aren't destroyed by his armed gangs.
Your right 36 billion goes a long way.
But at least this boot lick er understands how business work's and all that is involved to make it work.
$36 billion in profit = Key word is profit, meaning that this is the amount of money that they earn after paying their expenses, not $36 billion in revenue. Revenue = Total Sales. Maybe you understand business as you say, but as an Accountant I understand Financial Statements.$36 billion is left over after hiring the labor that you mentioned, maintaining their equipment, considering depreciation on their equipment, etc. Taxes depending on if the amount stated is profit before taxes, then yes taxes are taken out of that amount, but with all of the loopholes available to big corporations, they are able to keep most of that money.

ROFLMA what a joke!

They don't have to do anything to make Bush look bad he does that well enough on his own. What happened to Republican responsability??? They bought this economy now they should own it. I never thought I'd say this but I hope they do win in November! 4-8 more years of republican rule and we will truely be another 3rd world country. If people are dumb enough to fall for all their B.S. then they deserve what they get! The republican party preys upon the greedy and fearful without them they would be nothing so if that's what the mojority of our country has become then I hope they get just what they ask for. 8 more years of republican rule will destroy them and they will deserve every bit of it for being a bunch of greedy cowards!

Yeah let's not tax the oil companies or impose any kind of penalties for robbing the American people blind...God knows they need a few more billion more than the average American needs to survive.

any company can make 36 million when they spend billions to do it.
The most inportant is profit margin or % and the major oil companies are making 6-8% profit, which is not obsene whatso ever. Many companies make a higher % but no one bitches about that od they?
I know its tough for liberals, but,,how about the fact that the goverment makes more per gallon then the oil companies do!

Man you really should read the constitution of this country not Venezuela's.
The oil companies can also shut their plant's down if they wish.
The oil companies can refuse to do business in the country if they wish.
That is unless you think like Maxine [the brain] Waters and want socialize the oil companies.
Yes they can rescind the tax breaks if they wish but as for building refineries I guess you just have not been paying attention. The Democrats refuse to expand our ability to refine more fuel. The only people in the government that even talk about this issue is the Republicans. Did you not hear Bush say that we could build new refineries on old military bases.
Stop drinking they kool aid, and take a deep breath. Then.
PAY ATTENTION!!!!!!!!
What part of the Democrats refuse to drill, refine and bring the cost of fuel down. It is were they want it. They have been working at this a long time.
PAY ATTENTION!!!!!!!
Dear dumb*ss, You repub lemmings don't have a clue.
I remember when the steel barons got together and decided to raise the price of steel. JFK, who was pres. at the time, called a meeting with the ceo's and wanted them to justify the increase. If I recall, his arguement was, it was in the interest of the country to not raise prices and they didn't. You clowns throw the Constitution around to suit your whims. You should PAY ATTENTION and see that the repub controlled govt has been sitting on its hands when it comes to oil.

Thanks be to the Senate GOP. If you think your feeling the strain of high gas prices now, just imagine what it would be if you raised costs by raising taxes and stifling profits (the key motivation for efficiency of any business) on the companies that deliver us our gas.

When the Dems took over Congress, they promised to do something about gas prices. Now we are seeing what they are trying to do....continue raising prices.

Hmmm, where are the details of your analysis and solution, or is all you have to offer sarcasm and insults? Who's the lemming, the one that looks at details and forms and educated opinion, or the one who blindly follows a label that claims to be "the people's party"? Wake up!

I dont think the DEM tank uys on purpose, they just dont know about basic economics and dont care to....oil prices are the main reason why were sinking, but of course if the antiamerican idiots on the left would let us drill in ALaska,mr all american hero clinton didnt outlaw drill anwar,,building refineries, and nuc energy power plants we would be energy independent right now,,,they did run us worse but not on purpose, they are jist enept on economics.as long as they can keep the poor adicted to goverment policy and the poor down with thier taxes to destroy economy simply because of class envy, they will get votes and to those antiamerican as(hol(s that is the most inportant part.
