David and Charles: Good points from you Floridians. I agree wholeheartedly that the voters in Michigan and Florida need to be heard. Now, if we could only convince Obama of that. Unfortunately, his political ambitions are worth more to him, than the votes of millions of Democrats in Michigan and Florida.

I agree with most of the post here that Florida and Michigan delegates should be counted. However, what I do not understand is why wasn’t this an issue before the primary. Obviously both States knew that those delegates would not be seated yet it was ok before at least there was no complaint. The only logical explanation is that everyone taught Clinton would have secured the nomination regardless by February. I can bet you money if Clinton was ahead in the delegate counts; this would have not been an issue. What the Clinton folks should have done is put all that energy to fight for the people of Florida and Michigan to be heard before the fact. It is my understanding that before the primaries Clinton agreed that the delegates would not have been seated.

An interesting Wall Street Journal Article from today entitled "Hillary's Last Hope" by Lawrence B. Lindsey.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1206579502861... Regarding the June 3, 2008 primary re-vote in Michigan between Clinton & Obama that was just about ready to be put in place, the Obama supporters got this re-vote idea killed at the very last moment. It seems Senator Obama will do ANYTHING necessary to secure this nomination, even if that means silencing the voices of the voters in the 4th & 8th largest states in the nation. But...isn't Senator Obama's campaign almost solely based on the loftier ideal of "NOT Politics as usual???" I'm confused, someone explain please. |

I am glad to hear that a solution to the Michigan and Florida delegates is in the works. A 50/50 split does not represent the will of the people. The people of Michigan and Florida need to have a say in the selection of a candidate in order for the candidate to be legitimate.

Hey you, the "loyal democrat from Mountainview" it looks like you copied a previous blog and changed "Obama" to "Clinton". Don't you have any ideas of your own? You say that Clinton points the finger at Obama; I receive e-mails from the campaigns of both candidates and Obama's are much more full of finger pointing while Clinton's are focused on the issues. Obama is a fake! Michigan and Florida need to vote, and their votes need to count, duh!

"The VOTERS of Florida and Michigan had no say in whether their primary dates would be moved up in the calendar. There is no reason their votes should not be counted."
WHAT? There most certainly is a reason! It was their state party leaders. Why the hell don't you hold THEM accountable? Jeez people. You know what would happen if the Democratic party went ahead and let Michigan and Florida seat their delegates with no consequences? The next election would be TOTAL CHAOS. Who gets to go first? Jeez,(shakes head) You need to step back and THINK. Use your two brain cells and THINK. |
