Hey, The postal workers can't even read the adress on the letters going just down the street. I get my dads mail,he lives in Ky and I live in Tn. totally different state. I would like to have their job at least I would actually look at the letter. One of the postal test is,looking for and reading the right address on the letter.DUH They are getting paid too much and not doing their job right and real good benefits, too. |

I know address instead of adress.

Why don't they tell you this and let you vote it in?

MadTV made a skit about disgruntle customers that were concerned with paying over 30 some cents to pay a letter. The postal employee told the customer, listen if you can find anyone else that will deliver a letter for 34 cents, then use them instead of us. Which means that 34 cents or 42 cents to send a letter to anyone in the United States is pretty cheap.
But getting back to being serious, postal fees to mail letters do add up. But the postal service would tell us that the cost to run their business keeps going up. Just think, someday people will be putting $2.00 stamps on an envelope to mail a letter to someone that lives 60 miles away. By that time, it will still be cheap because the cost to fuel our vehicles to drive 60 miles and back will be over $200.00. Scary, but it is true. Of course, people that are able to read this post probably won't be alive by that point, unless you are some kind of cyborg. Who knows though,$2.00 stamps might be only 5 years away, with the rate that fuel prices are rising. |

The CREDIT CARD Companies Again, Thanks you (POST OFFICE) again for delaying the Mail so they can get there "LATE PAYMENT FEE plus a Reason to INCREASE their ANUS Rates". That 1 cent = to millions of $.(IN LATE FEES) Maybe the Post Office General gets a CUT ?! Ah... Don't go Postal on me !

Ah... ER... Well... That could be a FED Crime ? |

most online bill payments charge at least a $5 fee. i'd pay an extra 1 cent anyday to save $4.99.

The postal workers are pretty decent and polite when I see/talk to them.
E-mail may take away some letters from the post office, but web sites selling goods may increase deliveries of packages! Saturday deliveries could be stopped (totally or just stop residential and continue business deliveries), while still leaving the post office open for customers to buy stamps and ship packages. The clerks are a separate job classification from carriers. |

I hate junk mail myself and shred most of it without looking at it. But, the truth is the post office generates significant revenue off junk mail. It doesn’t add to the cost of other mail as you suggest. An excerpt from http://www.wkyt.com/wymtnews/headlines/118133... Postal workers say during the Christmas season the United States Post Office will make about 58-million dollars, and nearly half of that revenue will come from bulk business mail |

Really? You would drive your bills to their destination. Let’s see I’m in Atlanta and I happen to have a few bills which arrived this week. Des Moines, IA El Paso, Tx Wilmington, DE Irvine, TX The cost of delivering just those 4 would cost me several years worth of postage. I use about 250 stamps per month. 42 cents is still a deal. |

Your calendar must have longer months than mine. The last increase was 5/14/07 which was nearly a year ago, not five months as you indicate. The increase prior to that was 1/8/06 and before that 6/30/02. |

Good point. They should maybe even go back to pushing those cute little three-wheeled bag carrier thingies like you always see in movies about suburbia. And the exercise would do them good too. |

I think postal fraud is a federal crime. Pretty risky, considering the payout is pratically nonexistent. |

goverment workers should be replaced by illegals until the federal budget is balanced

In that case, blame the sorting machines, not the carriers. |

I don't think the issue is rising postal prices as much as it is what little service we get in return. I've lived abroad much of my life and the US has relatively low postal rates in comparison. But it other countries you actually get what you pay for. What am I paying for in the US...mail not addressed to me, letters that take several days to cross town, long lines at postal services while dozens of workers read the paper in the back, unskilled workers that make more than those with skills and education. Unfortunately, the postal service, like other government agencies, would be efficiently run if outsourced.

I wish the post office would just bump it 50 cents and get it over with. It is trying to keep up with the price changes that annoy me the most. It is not like I am doing a mass mailing anywhere I just want to mail my bills but the amount fluctuates every other month or so. I would like to use the post office more for identity theft reasons but it has become a PIA. I no longer have a postal box out in front of the house that I had for years and now must walk a block. Now the main post office three miles down the highway does not even have a mailbox outside. What’s that about? You have to park the car and walk in to mail a letter. Postal and Service used to be synonymous, what happened?
Anybody need these 1,2,3 cent stamps I have all over the house? |
