U.S. Sees New Missile Move From Russia in Georgian Fight

Even as Russia pledged to begin withdrawing its forces from neighboring Georgia on Monday, American officials said the Russian military had been moving launchers for short-range ballistic missiles into South Ossetia, a step that appeared intended to tighten its hold on the breakaway territory.

There's no way the russians are going to leave Georgia. But it will backfire on them as it will drive more of the ex-soviet republics into the arms of nato. The US can use the early warning system in the ukraine. And Russia might lose the port for the black sea fleet.

It's called agony! Now any horrible weapons will loom to American officials!:D:D:D

Tom, after that shit Saakashvili started he'll never get into NATO. If American officials are hare-brained, Europeans are not. They don't want to provoke a global scuffle because of some momentary interests. So the States are only ONE member of NATO, and I think it'll be deadly difficult for them to draw Georgia in NATO.

Just look at this website where this conflict step by step is getting less and less interesting to the community. We all have our internal problems, and don't want to be involved into a great war for nothing.....

The entire tactical, strategic, economic and political face of the globe is changing.

No different than the fallout from the collapse of Rome or Europe pulling out of the mid east.

When done we won't even recognize it and our children, if they live through this, will not remember the current situation outside of a map.

Even our own nation is going to be split in half with a superhighway while Canada, the US and Mexico become a unit.

Also the next ruling face on the mid east will be Chinese.

Currently it is not to difficult to point the fingers at who is flushing and has flushed it all down the toilet in exchange for their own profit and global chaos.

You are wrong. Now those small provinces that want to be independent will look to Russia for help while those other countries who have been thinking of joining NATO for protection while now realize that NATO will not stand up to Russia for them. This is another Bush foreign policy disaster. Bush has been pouring money and weapons into Georgia for some time now. He has tripled the size of the Georgian army over the last 5 years. He has made them a Parallel Interest Participant (PIP) in NATO and has announced that Georgia will soon be a full member of NATO. This is what has embolden Georgia to starting attacking the separatist areas again and restart their ethnic cleansing program. The only thing Bush seems to be good at is wrecking all of our diplomatic efforts of the past, getting everybody pissed off at us and starting wars. Impeach this moron before he gets us all killed.

I think Bush is a winner there. He started this war not because he planned to win it, but because John McCain need such war for his election campaign. Bush want McCain to become elected president, because McCain will cover all Bush's crimes. And I heard that thanks to this war McCain now have same rating as Obama. Perhaps McCain will win the election. Bush sacrificed Ossetians and Georgian for U.S. internal things. Some thousand died people on another side of the Earth - not a high price for election win.

Given imperialist Russia's history and psychopathic Putin's record in Chechnya is it not supremely naive, preposterous --even idiotic--to imagine that neofascist Russia will give "independence" to South Ossetia or Abkhazia?

All those who want a truly independent South Ossetia or Abkhazia will be murdered off by psychopathic Putin --because that's what psychopaths like Putin do.

Putin Strangles Georgis for the Pipeline Corridor

Putin shot down plans in the West
Steven Pearlstein
August 16, 2008

It was surely not lost on Russia's bully in chief, Vladimir Putin, that the oil giant BP decided to shut down the pipeline that runs through parts of Georgia controlled by Russian troops. Putin understands better than anyone that oil and gas are the source of Russia's resurgence as a military and economic power, as well as the source of his control over the Russian Government and key sectors of its economy.

Oil and gas provide the money to maintain Russia's military, along with a vast internal security apparatus and network of government-controlled enterprises that allow the president-turned-prime minister to keep an iron grip on the levers of power....

No use for US of early warning system in Ukraina. Do you think Russians were fools when they got rid of the same one in Cuba in 2001?
No matter for Russia to lose the port for the Black Sea fleet. Sevastopol bay was good for fleet 200 ago. Now it is too small and its enter is very narrow. It does not fit for WW III (God, save us!)

Not Russians, but Putin. Yes, he did this silly thing. He betrayed Cubans in favor of USA. That's one of the things he should be ashamed for.

Clearly, the Russian brutal regime of ex. KGB Putin and Medvedev disregards the empty verbal warnings of Secretary of State Rice which is similar to the weak talk to the Iranian radical Islamic regime of Ahmadinajad.
During more than 3 years US gave a pass to the brutal regime of Ahmadinajad to use his Islamic terrorist suicide bombers to take over Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank with no US retaliation for killing more than 1000 US troops in Iraq by the Iranian Mehdi Army Islamic terrorists. Clearly, the fact that 150,000 of US troops are fighting in Iraq only tie the hands of US military forces to a war that is doomed to bring no advantage and nothing in return to US.
It is time to send NATO and US troops to support Georgia to stop the taking over and destruction of Georgia by the brutal Russian regime that dreams about renewing the Soviet Union.
US State Department led by Rice failed time and again in its effort to appease pro radical Islamic and pro-Russian evil regimes.
Delaying protection of Georgia and stopping the Russian troops from destroying Georgia infrastructure and oil pipe that flow gas to the West will prove that US is nothing more than a paper tiger.
Clearly, Putin and Medvedev are strongly relying on grandma Pelosi’s support for their attacks in US Congress as she is on enjoying her long vacation while tying the hands of President Bush and US troops.
It is US Congress under delusional Marxist Obama Pelosi and Reid who gave green light to Russia and Iran to go ahead with their plan to take over the world’s oil and gas resources against the energy dependent US interests with Obama offering talking about large carrots and small sticks with Ahmadinajad and Putin.

If you combine NATO forces with non Nato US military allies as well as the coalition forces in Iraq you get a world army that is not controlled by the US Ccongress but by the Pentagon. Yet Americans despise the UN which is essential a talking shop when America has a unelected military dictatorship running the globe
This is nothing more than blatant hypocracy and superiority. Now you complain when a other superpower decides to exert military power. The fact is America does not need to exert military power because the Pentagon owns the world.
