The Sad End of Jimmy Carter

Carter needs at this stage of his life to stay in Georgia, on the farm, as long as he can function, then and as demonstrated by his last attempt at fame, be moved to a facility for the feeble minded. He needs to get out there and give a few speeches for Obama. The man has become the laughing stock of America.

Sorry, but to me Carter's trip to Syria seems to be a genuine attempt at something we americans have forgotten: diplomacy. Certainly we must admit that the success of our current efforts in the middle east has been limitted to say the least.
As long as we ignore Hamas, they will continue to try to get the world's attention, and we do not like their attention getting tactics.
The world would be better if more of us actually met these people face-to-face and found out what they are trying to accomplish.
As usual, Carter's actions and motives are being misinterpreted. Many americans just can't get past the fact that he has a southern accent, and relegate him to the role of Jethro.

I agree. You will never convince the other side of that though - they hate Jimmy Carter. He is not after fame as the other posted mentioned, he has that. He is an old man who is frustrated with seeing a president that has done absolutely nothing for over seven years. Carter's trying. It is debatable whether he is right or wrong, but he is a private citizen and has the right to do as he pleases. This may be his last effort to overcome his failed presidency with a better legacy. The man has always meant well.

when people get old, they show signs of strange behavior. maybe carter is getting senile? perhaps even showing early stages of alzheimers?

earlier, I pretty much bashed the guy for his trip to the middle east. but if he is senile, what can you say? we will all be like that someday if we live long enough.

The man is the epidomy of failure....a useless TOOL.

He gave us worldwide terroisim, he gave us the NEA and the education crisis, he made us all ashamed to be Americans when he was in office. The man should go back and shell peanuts....for that is the extent of is usefulness.

he was totally worthless as a president, and even MORE worthless as an ex-president...

diplomacy does not work on maddogs ... it didn't work in 1939 germany, it didn't work in 1978 iran, it didn't work in 1988 north korea ... these people DON'T want diplomacy and they DON'T want compromise ... they want israel destroyed and all the jews dead.
doesn't the fact they blow up innocent civilians give you something of a clue about their nature?

has it ever occurred to you that sometimes diplomacy as you call it - does not work?

more importantly, do you believe in evil?

did you know that evil people do not see themselves as evil?

both sides tell each other that the other is evil. but ultimately, the one who is truly evil is the one who starts out with no desire for diplomacy.

who would it be in this case?..you tell me.

Jimmy Carter is a great man. He actually managed to accomplish something no one else has in Syria.
If his own congress had paid attention to him we'd have seen prosperity instead of high interest rates. He didn't get a chance then, either. Nobody wants to listen to reason. Let's just nuke 'em.
Lake Iraq. Think about it. More than 4000 of our kids are dead, just so the president can get a friendly government installed and he can make more money.

we do not need to try and determine what these people are trying to accomplish because we already know: the annihilation of israel. what more is there to discuss? for jimmy carter this is not necessarily a bad thing, which is truly sad...

As for not being allowed in Israel, that ain't a big loss.
But I believe Mr Carter enjoys Diplomatic Immunity. It goes along with being an ex-president.

As confusing as the Middle East is already, we don't freelance diplomacy. If Carter had been cleared by the state department, that is one thing. But to go to a foreign country and "negotiate" (with who?) does nothing but muddy the waters even more. Nothing he will do is binding on anyone, since he is not a head of state and is acting on his own. It is just another photo-op for the Left - and nothing more.
It makes about as much since as me going to India and "negotiating" a treaty with Pakistan over Kashmir. It would mean nothing.
