I appreciate Rev. Rick Warren hosting the Saddleback Civil Forum August 16th, 2008, at his Lake Forest, California mega-church. 20,000 members give both Senators Obama & McCain a sizable forum. It will make for a preliminary National Convention warm-up.

At this posting, Hawaii time, the two Presidential candidates should have gone off the air at FOX & CNN.

Though I don't believe that religion should have a deciding factor for governance, in politics, faith-based initiatives & out-reaches appear to be working. However, after the 2000 and the 2004, posturing and pandering grew to committment and faith-based non-profits became favored by the Government. Foreign aid also was based on traditional Christian dogmas. Any government, or government programs operating under religious criteria will resemble the Taliban and other theocracies. The will of one group replaces the freedom & conscience of another group.

He who has the gold, makes all the rules. If there was any consitutional challenge to be made, this should be prime example.

It seems that Obama is being forced to talk about his beliefs and defend being a Christian almost every day because of the lies and smear campaign of the McCain camp -- spreading a false rumor that he is a Muslim.

It looks like McCain wants to scare voters -- a Bush tactic -- and it has backfired because now many more voters know that Obama is a Christian and that McCain's gang is lying.

America has a long way to go in the tolerance issue. If these mega churches based their message on the Commandments, "Thou Shall Not Kill" "Love Thy Neighbor as Yourself" or Jesus's teaching, "Be not overcome of evil, overcome evil with good" How can anyone be a soldier and still be a Christian? They can't! Harming another human being injures your soul!

These are about the most rediculous and overblown posts I have yet to see. And I have seen a LOT of really rediculous posts.

So Keith, you go along with NBC saying McCain must have cheated because he was better prepared for this?

I wonder if he was or was it the fact your man Obama can't think on his feet and if it is not a canned prepared speech he is lost.

My take is "so what?".

If Obama was being GENUINE, what would it matter if McCain had the questions in advance?

Both men were given the same questions before they got there. The fact that Obama was not giving a straight forward answers to straight forward questions shows that he is a fake and is not a Christian by values but only by words.

Thus the man will only offer america "JUST WORDS". He is the greatest con man the democrats have ever found.

Obama is Muslim so he is uncomfortable answering the questions. Why do the liberals want a Muslim like Osama for president instead a great American like McCain? Did you forget already what happened on 9/11? lol. I don't understand you commies. Nobody knows who Obama is. Is he a member of the Taliban? No one can say for sure. What we do know is that he doesn't care about white people, SUV's, Republicans, drilling for oil, flag pins, leis, or aloha shirts.

~~~VOTE MCCAIN~~~
McCains answers all focused on, war, war and more war. He is an angry and bitter man who lost 5 expensive airplanes.
He said we would win the Iraq war 5 years ago, now he blames Obama for setting a timetable that the Iraqi government wants. Why, war, war, and more war.
A person who only wears the Navy cap cannot be commander in chief of all the armed forces.
He's prujudiced against the air force, army, marines, coast guard, veterans, poor people, middle class, and women who aren't models.
Sad, so sad...
Not quite right Tama - They were both given the general subjects and some SAMPLE questions in advance.
As far as the rest of your statement - 100% correct.
I thought it was humilating for American poltiics to have two candidates bow before a group as ignorant and as shallow as the mebers of this church. Warren is as deep as a dime and his writings atre neither Christian nor profound.
Interesting take there Alice. On what exactly do you base your statement about Warren and the members of Saddleback church?
That's some funny stuff there Westside.
Name me ONE president who served in all five military services. As to the rest of your comment, on what exactly do you base your assertions? After all, if you're going to make them you ought to at least back them up with some actual facts (as opposed to blog or party talking points).
