Also, the gas prices are even higher in Europe.<quoted text>
He "pissed off OPEC" and that's why gas prices are up? That's so juvenile it's hard to respond.
How about this: OPEC has many new customers in India and China who are willing to pay more than what the US was paying.

As you drive that Hummer at 80 down the freeway, I'll bet. You still missed the point. I'm glad several other people got. The gist was that no matter what, NOTHING is being done. Several of my suggestions would never fly, but the fact is, you don't see anyone in Washington even coming up with an idea, a plan, a thought, a 'maybe we could try this.' NOTHING. No matter what happens with energy, it's going to effect someone, somewhere and they're not going to like it. Fact is, America has done zip, zilch, zero to conserve energy other than continue to raise prices. This leads me to believe there is not an energy crisis at all; simply greedy oil companies who are seeing just how far they can push the envelope. |
Mostly due to taxation by their socialist governments. |

1 Done nothing to conserve? Oh please. The airwaves are chock full of messages about ways to conserve. How about the "Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act"? Google 'energy conservation' if you need some more examples. There are estimated to be 2 trillion barrels of shale oil below Colorado Utah and Wyoming. Why isn't that being used? No oil refinery has been built in this country in decades. The last nuclear power plant was built in 1988.(btw, Palo Verde nuclear generating station is 65 miles from Phoenix... and I don't mind it in my backyard at all.) There are abundant sources energy that can be developed. The real question is, why aren't they? Unless you support government mandates about your use of energy, there is no way to conserve enough to make up for the increased consumption. btw, I'll take that bet about what kind of car I drive. |

Wow john, did you think up that fancy retort all on your own or did you have help with big words? |

Your point is absolutely wrong. I have been an engineer for almost 40 years and conservation has always been a consideration in the design of every project that I have worked on. There was a step jump in such efforts after the 1970's energy price shock. If you look at the history of energy use, the effects of conservation are easy to see. Those effort have continued. One current example is the Energy Star program. |

I just have to say, your picture that you use is awesome, Kev-O. I couldn't contain myself when I saw it and read your caption. |
THe tax on the gas in Europe is way higher not the gas price |
|
The taxes are included in the price. If you take away the gas taxes in Europe and the United States, the prices would be essentially the same. But what people pay at the pump is what people are most aware of. So what is your point? |
