Actually its the do-noting Congress. They forestall building refineries and now promise to save us. Congressman Arcuri in NY24 is a prime example he wants to TAX the oil like they wont just UP the cost to us end consumers. They create these problems to create the perception that WE NEED THEM to do something about the problem, which again, was largely created by Congress in the first place.

Its true that this oil reserve was known about for years. It was just never cost effictive to drill there and produce it before. Not to far in our recent past $50 was a big deal! But if it costs $45 to produce $50 of oil, there just wasnt any reason to drill for it, untill now! This is why this oil reserve has been sat on for so many years.
And there are many more like it. In fact it has been said for years that eastern Utah has more oil than the Saudi's ever had. It is just VERY expensive to produce, Even at current prices.
The fact is most of the BIG oil stikes in American history have been drilled by independents, Not big oil. i.e. Glenpool, Oklahoma! the Spidnletop Field in Texas! The East Texas oil patch in Kilgore Texas! The Mcklintock #1 in Penn! And you cant forget the granddaddy of them all the 1st oil well in the world drilled by Edwin Drake in Penn! since drilling for oil is not much more than gambling. BIG oil wont take the chance of drilling on a hunch and posiably coming up with a dry hole, and being out Millios of $'s. It will allways be the independents that discover these oil and gas reserves.

I agree with Mr. Jones that gasoline, jet fuel and diesel have brought amazing achievements in our society, but why should we stop there? We have progressed technology enough to stop using, or over-using even, these fuels. It seems the conservative party is more concerned with enabling the American people with drilling more oil. Extending public transportation and expanding the Federal Government to research and develop alternative fuels is the only option for salvation from the Judae-Christian oil war. Besides, these oil companies have lands already leased that they haven't even started drilling on yet! They want to drill in the Gulf of Mexico! Have you ever been there? It's beautiful.

This is not the only place in the US that is SOAKED WITH CRUDE OIL and is already approved and permitted for drilling and pumping.

That is a major part of the scam. We don't need to fight and bicker about drilling new places because we just need to utilize what is already approved and permitted.

It is all about keeping the price high.

What is already approved and permitted is only being utilized to a small percentage of its capacity. Just like the huge increase in natural gas prices on consumers while they engage in the smokescreen hunt for new natural gas reserves in light of the fact that there are literally thousands of perfectly viable but capped natural gas wells.

We have crude oil and natural gas in great supply, it is just not being pumped.

Sooner or later this is all going to hit the fan because it is not a matter of us not having enough but a matter of not pumping and utilizing what we already have that is legally permitted and pumped and that scenario exists to keep prices high.

It isn't much different that these interests owning all the mineral rights on oil and gas rich land but yet do nothing with it. It's a lock out.

Just like so many "farmers" whose bank accounts are flooded with cash, paid to grow nothing in order to keep market prices high while the world starves and dies in food riots.

With the way our economy is we need the business and going back to being the breadbasket of the world might save us from bankruptcy and national dissolution.

Exactly. I learned about this as a small boy back in the 1970s. My grandfather purchased land and rights as far back as the 1930s, suspecting oil or coal was in the region. They have known about it for decades but only in the last decade have they come up with drill bits to break through the rock or shale to get to the oil. It only took them 3 months to get our neighbors well installed and running. What North Dakota is doing is when someone puts in an oil pump/rig. They share 2% with a neighbor. This way everyone gets a bit off the pool. So you get a portion of their oil and they get a small portion of yours. Herb installed his pump like 10 years ago and he may not have the same rules apply to him. but anyone who gets a well placed on their property today will share their profits.
