Most Americans realize that there are many cultures that eat foods that we wouldn't consider eating. Considering it immoral that another culture has a differnt set of standards for what is considered food is rather immature. What does religion have to do with it?

One thing Americans really don't understand, if you are hungry enough, you will eat anything. That's not true. Most American would never resort to cannibalism even to survive. Read "The Wreck Of the Essex". I read that book a few years ago, and it's a great book about a true and very harrowing and heartbreaking story. In some cases, people willingly sacraficed their lives so that their compatriots could live.(I agree with the sperm whale's point of view and motivations). And as a strict vegetarian, because of my Christian beliefs, I do not eat meat, nor would I eat a cat, dog, or other such similar animal, even if I faced starvation and death. There ARE some things that some people WILL NOT DO for moral, and\or religious reasons. How many people have willingly died simply because they WILL NOT SAY "I renounce my Christianity", even when faced with death merely for speaking a few simple words, whether they mean them or not ?

There are some things taht people KNOW are intrinsically MORALLY WRONG and evn EVIL. The bible condones slaver, but we all KNOW that is supremely immoral, don't we ?! And we are instructed in the bible to submit to civil government, yet if we always did that, we would NOT have had our INDEPENDENCE from Great Briatin when we did, and the Revolutions of 1989 would not have set the eastern European countries free of communism now, would they ? We KNOW it is a human RIGHT to be FREE, and not subject to an oppressive government that suppresses our RIGHTS. These things we KNOW. Just as we KNOW taht eating certain animals, or ALL animals, is MORALLY WRONG.

One thing Americans really don't understand, if you are hungry enough, you will eat anything. I had never thought about the possibility of offending somebody's hosts. However, people from many cultures are offended if you don't eat when you are offered food. The guy I worked with said that the flavor wasn't bad but the texture was a bit off. I don't know how I would react if somebody expected me to eat dog meat but, I sure don't condemn anybody who has eaten it. Different cultures have different views on what is considered food. I suppose, if I were in a different culture, Id either eat or go hungry.

What the hell is wrong with you? Please tell me where, as a Christian, you cannot eat meat? How is eating a dog, cat or any animal cannibalism? What does any of this have to do with renoucing your religion?

Sure hurts when the "planted" story is confirmed by so many witnesses and Romney is so "forgetful" that he as he "can't remember". The lie WAS THURSDAY, and putting his bullying behavior aside, Romney is a fat liar today.

Period. They do this in any number of ways but the intent and the results are the same.

If you've watched any PBS travel shows, you will note that other cultures find CRICKETS and SCORPIONS and unusual things like that yummy. When I hear the dog food, LITERALLY story, I think of Joan Rivers. She was telling a "sad" story about having to put down her dog. She said her Filipina neighbor was so kind that she offered to accompany Joan to the vet for the euthanizing. The odd thing was, the neighbor brought a jar of apple sauce!

We eat insects regularly here in North America too -- whether we know it or not. Apparently we each eat about one or two pounds of insect bits each year. http://www.sixwise.com/newsletters/05/06/29/h...
