Which god "divinely instituted" family as "one husband and one wife with their children"? I do hope you're not referring to the god of the Bible. You do know that Abraham, Jacob, David, Solomon, etc.- basically all of god's favorite - all had multiple wives (and concubines to boot), don't you? I'm not familiar with anything in the New Testament that overturns that. So it appears that what is divinely instituted is polygamy.

You need to read up and get your facts straight. Obama has not been a Senator for a decade.
Well, for varying definitions of the term "Senator", he has. He was elected to the Illinois State Senate in '96. From there, he went on the US Senate.

That said, as Andreas just pointed out, he hasn't done a damn thing in his entire political career except run for his next office, so with regard to actually "being a Senator", he has yet to start.

Luckily for him, his supporters cannot be bothered with trivialities like his record, they prefer his fictional books.

Hey, high school grad only voters -- how are you faring financially thanks to W's tax cuts for the richest of the rich?
I just got a $1,200 check in the mail. 10% to my church, the rest to buying beer and shotgun shells, let me tell you I bought a helluva a lot of beer and shotgun shells. Can we reelect that Texan for a 3rd term? Don't mess with Texas.

You must be under 35 years old. Though GW is no peach, Jimmy Carter by far was the worst president. Double digit inflation and unemployment, today's economy would be heaven compared to Carter's reign.

And you are proud of your status? Is he arrogant because he went to Harvard? Arrogant because he is bi-racial? Arrogant because you do not comprehend his comments? You probably are just that caught up in your own world to realize.

I'm the white Ohio college-guy in my mid 40's who can't quite get the "Change" garbage Obama is throwing at me. I seriously doubt he can run this country. I have never voted Republican, okay once for Deborah Pryce when I lived in Columbus.
I didn't vote for Reagan, either bush ever. But if Obama gets the nomination, I'm going to vote for McCain, the first republican president I've ever voted for. I don't want smoke-n-mirrors disguised as "change."
And I actually "get" what Rev. Wright is poking at for black injustice. The message doesn't disturb me a bit. Though it does get a lot of press.
It's just Barrrack Obama the man. There's no substance.
Well said. I'm tired of the stupid comments about him being Muslim, won't salute the flag, won't wear a flagpin, etc... It's refreshing to hear someone say he just bring enough substance to the issues. The economy is a major issue right now, along with jobs, war, gas, education, health care, the mortgage crisis and illegal education. Those are just the top few. Obama is articulate with big crowds, but doesn't give enough details on what his plans are if he makes it to the Whitehouse. He's got a lot of great thinktanks around him, but I fear they will be running the whitehouse and he will be the puppet. Its not all uneducated whites that are pushing for Hillary either, some educated blacks are pushing for her too. So I don't see it being a racial thing. People are looking for the candidate that best addresses their needs, and this country needs a major fixer. I don't know if Hillary, McCain or Obama are good enough.

We understand his comments just fine, but can't figure out where you were going with your last sentence? Did you mean to finish a thought? Surely, an "intelligent" Obama supporter such as yourself knows how to complete a sentence? Or am I being arrogant in assuming that you consider yourself to be intelligent?

Great Post! Less eudcated people of all races get used and tossed aside every election cycle. Whites get used by the GOP, and blacks get used by the democrats. Take a look at states like Indiana, they look like ghost towns whe the republicans are done. All the jobs are sent overseas time and time again. Democrats get power often times on the backs of the minority vote but nothing changes. We must learn to do for ourselves. A president can only do so much.

I am rich, I voted for George W, the first time and the second time. This time I will vote for McCain. I am just a Harvard alum, throwing gasoline into the fire. But thanks, for putting me in the Obama camp. Oh wait, you responded to feel superior to me, okay, I got it, you are, feel better?

I do feel better, thanks. If you plan on attacking the intelligence of other posters, you really should ensure that your post sounds intelligent. And, by the way, I don't think I'm the one who needs to "feel superior." Your little response manages to announce that you are "rich" and that you are a "Harvard alum." Somehow, I doubt that. A rich Harvard alum would likely have better ways to spend his or her time than posting obnoxious messages on Topix.

I can state that I am obscenely wealthy and a Rhodes scholar, but that doesn't necessarily make it true.

Obama is the most intelligent candidate of the three. He is my choice to lead our country. His race is fine with me because he is just as white as he is black, and there is no reason to consider that aspect of his candidacy. Grow up America and make the intelligent choice.

I think Hillary is the most intelligent of the three candidates, with Barack coming in second. I've already made the intelligent choice when I voted for Hillary in the Illinois primary, and hope to be able to make another intelligent choice in November when I cast my ballot for her.

I respectfully disagree. Hillary's sycophantic short-sightedness has propelled her into parroting support for the gas tax repeal. That, among many other things, removes any consideration on my part for her intelligence quotient and reall ability to run our beautiful country.

The same can be said for Shillary. Despite the painting that she paints of what she was going to do, she has only done two things:
1) Blame everything on the current president
2) Prepare to become president.
