Joblessness grew by an additional 84,000 in August 2008, bumping the national unemployment rate up to 6.1 percent. This is the highest level in five years and the eighth straight month of job losses. The economy has lost more than 600,000 over that time period.

JOBLESS

Come Monday morning without warning
Your boss decides to let you go.
As you listen to each and every word
The blood in your veins increases its flow.

You worry about family with all their needs
And, oh my what will my wife do and say.
Your heart is heavy and your throat is dry
While you wonder if you’ll make it through the day.

There's a house, two cars, doctor bills and credit cards
All who expect to be paid.
What little you’ve saved will soon be gone
And for the outcome of all, your afraid.

LABOR

Our workers are our saviors
The redeemers of every race.
From those who built the pyramids
To the rockets for outer space.

With our fingers weary and worn
And our eyelids heavy and red
We feel we've earned God's blessings
As we lay down our sleepy head.

After death there’ll be lots of rest
Though the living must suffer toil
For every thing that man must have
Comes from the air, the sea and soil.

"Yes" labor is part of life on earth
For without it we make no gains.
By work we receive life's rewards
As fortunes are made by our pains.

No surprise. Everything is getting worst.

But Sen. McCain said something in his speach lastnight that I didn't understand.

In regards to all of those that lost their jobs due to businesses moving overseas. Sen. McCain said that he would help find them new ones that didn't move overseas. What did that mean exactly?

Topix really is unbelievable. Why do they have to put Bush's picture in the corner next to this headline? Can they be any more obvious in their bias?

during the time of Reps/Bush at the helm America has grown deeply into debts abroad, most loans obtained in Asia, in particular China - to finance the war in Iraq to get at the weapons of mass destruction there (which was known by others hardly were there at all). The wealth and economical independence of USA is now sliding out of your hands and into the chinese/Asians.
It is extremely worrying - not only for you and USA but for the entire western world. There is a reason for Putin becoming more cocky these days.
Under such economically depressing days it is no wonder that American companies get forced to lay off people and trying to cut costs. These are the days when you simply have to get at grip with the dangerous trend and look for change - seriously. It starts with showing up on election day November
4! Will keep en eye on you over there - Good luck

In an American election campaign that is hardly even to be considered as "peanuts" - surprising and amusing then to see one of you being that touchy (big laugh!)

Trust me!: Nothing ! "Help find" - is no obligation by any politician's standard!
Asking him: "How - in detail please ?"

By our standards an employee at yours has absolutely no protection - you're off in a minute if it suits the employer for any false or true reason- in his option ( at least for very many of you- and in particular those who are the most vulnerable and in most need of knowing that tomorrow will be ok...)It makes me sad and gives me (unfairly) some feeling of bad conciousness - because we are able to feel much more secure.
It has it's price in high taxes but all told the wealth is much more fairly distributed enabling all families to withstand some rainy days....

what exactly did Bush or - especially - McCain do to cause you to loose your job??

I suppose you believe that when Obama gets into office, the messiah will wave his hand and you will have your job back??
