The only things I can think of
that are truly discriminatory are
things like the Congressional Black Caucus,
United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine,
Black Entertainment Television, and
Miss Black America. Try to have things
like the United Caucasian College Fund,
Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television,
or Miss White America and see what
happens...Jesse Jackson will be
knocking down your door.

Now let's try exercising reason. I disagree with CBC's decision regarding Jefferson. Until the investigation has concluded he should have been asked to step down. I am an african-american male, and I don't believe playing the race card should be played especially in matters such as this.
Several senators (caucasian)were caught up in the Jack Abramhoff scandal yet they're still in office making more deals to screw over the people. Where's the screams for them to step down?

THE CONGRESS and Senate put a hold on Jefferson's investigation. If the investigation would have proceeded (as it should have) instead of our Lawmakers hollering so loud I could hear them in Georgia, that it was against the Constitution (wrong), we would know a lot more about his crooked dealings by now.
NOW THE BLACKS are using the racist card! This crap is old and way out of line and has no merit any longer. Get a life and take responsibility for once.
NO ONE is above the Law regardless of their position in the U.S. and the Government. The Constitution DOES NOT protect anyone from illegal activities. If you don't believe me, take the time to read it.
I AM FOR Voting all incumbents out of office--they are only in the business for themselves.

FOR YOUR REFERENCE:
The clause in the Constitution is intended to protect lawmakers from being punished for what they say and do in Congress. It says:'For any speech or debate in either house, they shall not be questioned in any other place.' The Supreme Court has ruled that this privilege applies to official duties and is not a shield for criminals.

In 1972, the justices upheld a bribery charge against former Maryland Sen. Daniel B. Brewster, saying the clause did not 'make members of Congress super-citizens, immune from criminal responsibility.' In that decision, Chief Justice Warren E. Burger wrote,'Taking a bribe is, obviously, no part of the legislative process or function.'

The relevant paragraph actually says, "They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place." I assume that taking a bribe is a felony.

The things that you think are “truly discriminatory” were created at a time when Jim Crow laws, racial bigotry and white supremacy were the accepted norm.

The Congressional Black was founded by Shirley Chisholm, Louis Stokes and William L Clay in January, 1969 -- at a time when Black Representatives faced all types of dissemination. Originally called a "Democratic Select Committee," it was named the Congressional Black Caucus in February 1971 on the motion of Charles Rangel. Just six months prior the formation of the DMC, blacks were forced to deal with all types of discrimination —being jailed, beaten or fired for trying to vote.

To understand the need for the DMC-CBC, all you have to do is review the events that led up to the 1968 Democratic National Convention and the racist attempts that were made by whites to keep black representative from being seated at the convention.

The United Negro College Fund was formed in 1944 at a time when employment that paid a decent wage was difficult for many blacks due to racial discrimination. Black parents worked all day but made so little that they could not afford to send their children to college. The fund was created to offer assistance to young blacks seeking a higher education.

The Jet Magazine was published November 1, 1951 at a time when no publication offered weekly summarizations of events that involved black people. Like the Ebony Magazine, published in 1945, for many years these two magazines were the only magazines that a person of any race could read about black people or even see a black person in print.

Black Entertainment Television was founded January 25, 1980 at a time when most cable TV shows were created as alternative entertainment for white people. Though anyone could watch cable TV, BET was the only outlet for viewing older black movies and black music videos.

The Miss America Pageant was created in 1921 for whites only. The Miss Black America Pageant, created August 17, 1968, offered black women scholarships and prizes while creating a forum for them to showcase their beauty and talent.

The things that you have listed as examples of black discrimination were created because of racial discrimination, racial exclusion and racial bigotry from whites. It's our American history. Review it for yourself.

The Congressional Black Caucus was already ticked off about how they were mistreated by Pelosi over the Voting Rights Act renewal http://www.blackcommentator.com/183/183_cbc_m... and then to add fuel to the fire Pelosi jumps up and down on their feet and pulls a seperate but equal stunt. She asks for BLACK congressman William Jefferson (D-LA) to leave his leadership post while leaving WHITE congressman Alan Mollohan (D-WV) in his leadership position in the powerful Appropriations Committee.

So catch a clue people. There's more going on here than you are reading about in the nations newspapers.

Get over it. Why do some (surely not all) blacks still live in the past...just get over it. It's always "you owe me", reparation, your whole point was demeaned by your whining about the injustices down to blacks by whites. The CBC is a racist group of worn out old civil rights dudes who do nothing to improve the life style of blacks. If you want improve your lot in life, go to school, work hard and quit complaining. In my engineering firm we have 12 engineers and 4 are black. Two are managers who just work hard, worry about their children getting a good education and paying their taxes...they wouldn't walk across the street to see or speak to someone like you or Jesse Jackson.

You insult MLK when you use this quote as if it pertains to Jefferson - or the Black Caucus.
