Nobody called you a racist because you won't vote for Obama. This story was about racism and its effects on the election. not voting for Obama because of his color, even though he is half white and was raised by the white side of his family (funny how he choses to identify with his African side, maybe for political reasons?) is no different than not voting for McCain because of age or for Palin because of gender. As Welsh-Spanish-American who grew up inspired by Dr. King, Bayard Rustin, George Washington Carver, Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, Shirley Chisholm and other Americans, I want to vote for an African-American candidate for president. What attracted me to the folks I mentioned above, I think, was their principles. Growing up in downstate Illinois, I know of Chicago machine politics and its perpetual corruption that taints the entire state. Obama's shady associations are not unusual for Chicago. If we are going to continue the reforms of Watergate, we should not elect a corrupt, cynical Chicago politician who dishonors the memory of those who put their lives on the line for advancement of African-Americans and America. I will not vote for someone, as Barone wrote recently, is ushering in a thug-ocracy. That's no better than Chavez or Mugabe.

There are quite a few vegans in Minnesota, and probably some Flat-Earthers too. I doubt if either group's beliefs will have much effect on the election.

White liberals need to get over their angst about racism. It's time to move on.

Good thing then, that it's not going to be close in Minnesota. However, I AM enjoying the whiny white people who react so badly when it's pointed out that in Minnesota, racism is pretty much as plain as the nose on your face. The most telling statistics are in the rates of poverty for children of color, high school dropouts and incarceration. The poverty statistic is most damaging. I'm not asking ANYONE, especially the poorly educated whites to feel guilty about it, but I DO expect the state to do something.

The positive effects of social spending are not easy to quantify, but the unconscionable waste of human potential and the long term costs to society, in real dollars justifies what myopic (and sometimes racist) white people see as coddling.

I guess the truth hurts.

I have a lot of black friends who are NOT voting for Obama. Does that make them racist?

But remember when mother earth lets go her forces on us, those same people that we see on a daily bases reguardless of who they plan to vote for or voted for, will be there to pull us from the high waters, crumpled houses or overturned cars. It is really, truly sad to see your twisted comment on this topic, but I shouldn't be surprised. That's why you live in Zimmerman. My only wish is that you wind up being surrounded on all four sides by African American neighbors. Then you might be forced to develop some social skills.
