Run for Congress on a record of lost construction jobs and crumbling roads and bridges for a $30 pandering tax cut? Not so much. Going forward, if a higher tax is applied to research, making us more energy efficient, less reliant on Mid East oil, and developing cleaner power, what's the downside? Think of it as late fees for not doing this research since Ronald Reagan became President, and we abandoned looking for oil alternatives. This was passed on to the previous generation's children. Time to make up for wasted time and lost ground. We'll do it, but we'll work hard.

If there is one person who does not see that the Dems are crazy and greed runs their agenda they are lost causes . People need to rise up and stop paying these bums ! we do not need to wait for the next congressional election cycle,, with a 9% approval rating they can be removed now based on a lack of confidence vote by the people .

Look at you taking a whipping with a smile on your face. Disgusting.

The downside is the fact they will not use the money for research and developement they will ride this cash cow for all its worth incase you haven't noticed,Making themselves evermore filthy rich.

Supply and Demand. While The Middle East Bleeds You Dry Take Comfort In Knowing Your Democratic Senate and House Voted 50 BILLION Taxpayer Dollars To African AIDS. Ahh... Its Lovely Having 1200 Mandarins(Ancient China)Controlling 300 Million American Sheeple And Spitting In Their Faces. When Will The People Rise Up. If You Asked ANYONE in 1980's If Soviet Union Could Ever Break Up They'd Say Not Until Devil Wears a Sweater. The Same Could Be Said For USA About Apartheid.

This is the Democrats way of repaying the voters for putting them in back in 06. Do you remember what Miss Nancy P. said they would do about the high cost of gas back then. Didn't she say the Dems would get the high cost of gas cut? That they did it went from $2,61 to over $4.00.SOME CUT and don't forget the extra taxes they now want to add. Boy, it's fun to vote for such honest people on both sides. We aught to be real proud of our leaders!!!! VOTE FOR OBAMA FOR EVEN MORE TAX ICREASES!!!!!

I cant beleive the audacity and the stupidity of the people who we entrust to lead this country. I cannot comprehend this talk of a gas tax increase! GAS IS ALREADY $4.00 A GALLON!! Are these idiots serious? Americans are screaming out for LOWER gas prices!!! Not higher.

Yeah you would think all the people out of work would be flocking to the GOM or the Dakotas or up to Canada to work in the oil fields. I have always said, when some kind of consumer product is short, go work in the field or buy the stock or commodity!! Kornback Rattler wrote: It sure is nice working in the GOM right now. Why are we even bothering to vote come election day when: a) the popular vote does'nt count anyway and b) it uses gas to get to the voting polls. I think we should STOP attending all the political rallies and stay home to voice our otherwise unheard opinions in another way! We are all sheep being hearded to the slaughter and NONE of us are taking any action. If we all stayed home and didn't vote on election day and saved our gas and unheard opinions we would make a statement to the world and our own political leaders! Why is it no one is doing anything? If I where the President I would at least get a think tank organized to find out what our options are regarding soaring energy prices and also put an end to the oil speculators. The real terrorists right now are the oil companies...not Al Quida. Our government is counting on everyone of us to do nothing....and we're doing exactly that. Talk to others about what you can do and write to your political leaders, organize or do anything....just stop counting on the government to make things better because they don't care about any of us, they just want our vote. If we don't give them what they want, they'll be forced to listen to us.

No, that isn't the reason that they are so much more energy efficient than we are. That comes from them MANDATING years ago that cars have to get certain amounts of mileage per gallon, and telling the car companies that if they didn't meet those standards, they wouldn't be allowed to do business or sell their cars in their country. Something that we should have done YEARS ago, but there was no political will to do that until now.

For everything they did to try to bring down gas prices, George W. Bush was there with his saber-rattling towards Iran to piss off the Arabs and make the prices of gasoline go higher. Once we get George W. Bush out of office (and hopefully INTO A PRISON where he belongs for manipulating the intelligence given to Congress), Obama will FINALLY be able to stop saber-rattling towards Iran, leave Iran alone, and concentrate on getting us out of Iraq and taking care of the problems that are happening in Afghanistan with the Taliban (we are going to need more troops for that).

The article says that the gas tax isn't bringing in enough money to keep the road workers employed. If the tax isn't raised, almost half a million people would be out of work. There isn't enough money because people have cut back on their gas purchases. And if the roads and bridges aren't maintained, transportation will be shut down. Check the article. It says exactly that. Reality bites, What are we going to do?

dr wino wrote: <quoted text>so someone has a different oppinion than you and you want to harm them? Yes, I do wish that idiot harm. And "opinion" only has 1 "p" in it. Handing Congress a permit to steal more money from the already stretched-to-the-point-of-coll apse American taxpayer is NOT the answer. Offshore drilling, use of domestic supplies, construction of new refineries (while telling the environmentalists to get stuffed) and the cessation of all foreign aid to oil-producing nations...THOSE are workable solutions. Charging Mexico several million barrels of oil each day for having babysit their castoffs that slither into the US illegally...that'll sure help. Promising (and making good on the promise) to vote out every last thieving prick in Congress if these measures are not enacted by the end of September...THAT would work. Al Gore-style green solutions are a bunch of bullsh*t that help no one but the neo-Marxist New Order Elitist Establishment that has so many delusional morons buffaloed into thinking that the sky is falling; the Greenistas are laughing all the way to the bank...at our expense. Why in the phuque should American society have to drastically change it's method of operation because a small minority of self-proclaimed deities say it must be so?. Fu*ck them and anyone who looks like 'em. Oh, since I have a differing opinion, please feel free to wish me bodily harm; I really don't give a damn.
