‘Miracle’ Marine dies; terribly burned in Iraq

Marine Sgt. Merlin German, 22, of New York City, died on April 11 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, from wounds suffered during combat in Iraq in 2002.

Good thing the mission has been accomplished.

What a tragedy...the personal stories and deaths that occur due to this occupation in Iraq do not get covered enough. Why are we being shielded from the truth and horror of whats going on...Americans are giving their lives and the top stories circulating are generally about trashy "stars" and their poor behaviour. We have become such an un-involved country...it doesnt matter until it affects us personally...a tragedy in and of itself. My heart goes out to the families of all who have paid the ultimate price and for all who have been given a life sentence of enduring what this "war" has done to them...

Rest in peace brother! Your fellow Marines will never forget your sacrifice to this country and for the people of Iraq. Semper Fi, devil dog!

I feel sorry for that marine ... my coindolences to his family. Wish the war was over that no one has to get hurt anymore.Plus have all the bull crap done and over with.

His recovery was an inspiratio. His death a loss to all.

My God embrace him. God Bless his family,may they let him live on forever with stories of happier days.

I love him so very much he gave his life.

I am mad at those politicians who cause his life to become short.
