Asian markets tanked again Tues.
Bernanke is pumping another 150 billion into the banks today.
A Federal Reserve rate cut of .5% is now certain.
Don't it make you long for the assurance that our economy is fundamentally OK again.

I do not think so.This word depression is used so lightly.I grew up in a real depression. It was a different world. In that world we had FDR.He tried and tried. But it was the 2nd WW which pulled us out.
War materials, factories never closing, ships, planes, tanks, mun itions, kids going to war, everybody else working.

Paid an awful price to get out of that mess.

Now we have two guys promising everything to everybody. We will have very tough days ahead of us.Today unemployment is about 6%.after the election, and the new year its going to be much higher. Some say about 11+%...thats bad.

Who ever gets in will be a one term president. Not unlike Jimmy Carter. We,all of us will really be hurting, this time not just a little bit.

Somewhere out there I hope a different kind of person is getting ready to take over.
Four years from now we are going to need him.McCain ,god bless him will be gone,Obama will be a failed president .He means well, but this is bigger than him. All those in the congress hopefully will be gone also..I mean gone! Today the approval rate of Congress is 10%..The lowest in our history.

Soon
they will control the House, senate, and the White house...WOW!..Ya ain't seen nothing yet!

I ain't gonna bash these two,but they ain't got no answers.
Its politicians who put us in this mess.its also our own fault.

Unless the country pulls together, like they did in the depression of the 30s,and during the 2nd WW,we could lose it.
It has happened before.

If you were a citizen in Ancient Rome,in their Pax Romana, you would have never in your dreams thought any think could shake your world....It did,it can happen
The new Barbarians are at the gates.
like Rome,we are now to fat ,lazy, hedonistic, lost our way.

No longer are we the Greatest generation, but rather a divided nation.A nation of black and white, left and right, straight and gay, rich and poor, brave and cowardly,Patriotic and haters of our country, respecting of life, yet killing babies,so divided on many things. All think they are right, and yet all are wrong.

GOD HELP AMERICIA...for I see many saying GOD DAM AMERICA!now....and they will!..only if we let them!

Yep, if you were foolish enough to go into debt, then you'll be living in a flop house before long. Go talk to any of the old timers, they'll tell you of 30 or more folks living in a little old mill house. That no jobs were to be found, and the Government couldn't do much for anyone. Trouble now is that there are 300 million in the US, not 125 million. Ouch!

That's why Joe Biden said he would have a problem if Obama tried to take his gun. We're all gonna need some firepower to get through some long days and nights. Lock and load. Praise the NRA!

Has anyone seen the movie Fight Club? The buildings are falling down without the buildings going down.

Remember in the movie Tyler Durden was a dilution. Its all in your head.

What reality do you want?

Trust in Obama.

He'll create a set of New Deal-type programs that will dig us out of a depression.

And if that doesn't work, he could get us involved in some big war which will put the millions of unemployed on the front lines...just like FDR did.

Trust in Obama. He's on our side.

Cut, kill, dig and drill!

Stuck with only 2 major political parties to represent 305 million people...yeah right!

And for those who are supporting one candidate over another because you think one paarty won't be raising taxes and the other will. I've got 3 words ...Ten Trillion Dollars!

5 words... Ten Trillion Dollars In Debt.

Wow! You're being rated poorly! Don't let that discourage you from posting (like it would :-).
Like you, I don't think the Dems will save the world, but they are closer to to FDR than the NeoCons by a mile (not to say McCain is a NeoCon).
But I'm willing to give the Dems a chance. For all his inexperience, I like this guy Obama. He's growing on me more and more.
This "depression" crap is just crap. We have a lending and housing crisis. That's it! No more! It's bad, but it's not 25% unemployment.
That said, deregulation caused this mess. Everyone agrees on that. Even the Republicans are saying they are in favor of regulating business. That surprises the hell out of me! Considering they're stance for the last 80 years.
Don't agree with you at all on your abortion stance, BTW.
But keep posting! Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it.
