Another Carmel Old Town Business owner running fo City Council. This one is the best yet. Cherie Piebes not only is an Art Business owner in Brainard's pet project, but she has about $2,800 in Campaign contributions, of which $2,000 came from the "Friends of Jim Brainard". She probably has lunch everyday with Kevin "Woody' Rider at his resturant "Ye Old Library Woody's Place" Two self serving candidates all ready to rubber stamp Brainards projects. My vote is for Lucy Snyder

Once again, Carmel's only choices are presented as "Brainard" or "Anti-Brainard." Unfortunately, the presentation is accurate. The only way to force Carmel's politicians to start running for the citizens, rather than the politicians, is to get completely outside the self-serving Republican cabals and elect a Democrat this November. Nothing else will force these two gangs to stop fighting each other and start paying attention to the best interests of the people.

Cherie Piebes is woman who all of Carmel can be proud of to represent them. She is a successful business woman who has the ablity to work within a very defined budget and brings with her an analictial ablity from years at IBM.
I would ask everyone who has more to lose in Carmel than a sef employed business owner if Carmel is not managed in a tigh fiscal manner? I look forward to seeing a woman like Cherie Piebes represent my district. |

My vote is for Luci Snyder. I don't think that the Arts Center businesses can afford to alienate any possible customers. I am through that area at least twice a day and I hardly ever see anyone in these shops.

Luci Snyder is the way to go here.
Brainard called Piebes personally and asked her to run, not because he thought she was the right person for the best job, but because he knew he had her in his pocket and she would be another rubber stamping Brainard puppet. By the way, the fact Piebes worked at IBM has nothing to do with her being qualified for the City Council. Luci has a proven record as being excellent on the council! |

I disagree, the way out is to get rid of Brainard now in the primary. I don't see it as Brainard vs Anti-Brainard. I see it as Legacy Builder vs Candidates for the people. Remember the best way to kill a snake is to chop it head off. |

Right on nudude! The choices are for the Brainard Machine that is in it for themselves in an unethical way, or the candidates that care about the citizens instead of themselves. Government should be for the citizens, let's give the voice back to the people! |

what have you been smoking? |

Is it a picture of Cherie Piebes in this article? Shouldn’t it be of both candidates?

Have you gone to the Indy Star Voters Guide for Carmel? It has Lucy Snyder, Wayne Wilson and Mark Rattermann listed as “did not respond”. They had Mark Rattermann in the Carmel insert listed as “did not respond” in error. The Star dropped the ball on his submission. How do think people will react when they see this? How many people do you think they will tell that these candidates didn’t care enough to respond? How can this ever be made right? The person reading the paper and visiting the guide may see it but I would say they will not “spread the word” to as many as heard the wrong information. People reading this article will likely use that guide to look further into these candidates’ backgrounds. What effect will if have?

That seems to be the Star for you. They are most definitely supporting the present administration. Being that other paper is from what I gather, is connected to the mayor's political machine, we have no impartial resource. |

Political machines must go.

Maybe there is pattern here. Both newspapers have a diverse make up of editors and owners. Could the common factor be they both applaud what is going on in the City of Carmel? Maybe there isn’t any evil the opponents claim but a lot of positive things happening in Carmel. Who else in central Indiana besides Carmel is building an infrastructure and business climate that will attract quality out of state business to central Indiana like Carmel is doing? At the same time Carmel is keeping taxes low with a high quality of life. Maybe these newspaper people are little worldlier and understand finance more. Maybe they are doing responsible reporting and not slandering Mayor Brainard as many feel they need to do. After all the Mayor's record is exemplary. The opponents said the end was near 4 years ago and here we are again with the same old tired arguments. Just maybe Chicken Little has taken up residence in Carmel in a new high density condo and likes yelling the sky is falling. |

ummm, no, I don't think that is the case at all! If you recall, four years ago, we didn't have the debt approaching what we have today as I type. It's those so-called "professionals" in our City Hall that just have to go. Carmel, needs to be returned to citizen based government- not the political patronage based system we now have to deal with. |

Well mainstreet, those infrastuctures are being paid by us not the devlopers, and Buckingham by the way is in financial trouble. Oops.... I guess we will see who is paying for all of those ammenties.
Maybe we should have the vote law on projects and let the citizens decide on How to spend our money rather than 6 people. I doubt if I see you Bubs, I like Angie's cafe. |

Your absolutely right there is an investment. Just like we invested in our education with time and money, investment in the furture for our child will take the same. Thank goodness someone is look to the future to insure Carmel attracts the jobs of the future. It is refreshing to live somewhere where investment in the future is more than lip service.

If you are referring to investments in infrastructure, and it's an investment that developers would queue up to pay for a hefty return, then why not make them pay it?? That way we can make better use of our children's resources instead of the lip service you are throwing at them.. |
