Tough ID laws could block thousands of 2012 votes

Full story: CBS News

When Edward and Mary Weidenbener went to vote in Indiana's primary in May, they didn't realize that state law required them to bring government photo IDs such as a driver's license or passport.

In the days of segregation, politicians in the South had various means of discouraging blacks from voting. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 put an end to such overt discrimination, and it was passed by an overwhelming majority of both Democrats and Republicans.

Sadly, today's Republicans have abandoned their party's history of defending civil rights and instead are resorting to subtle forms of discouraging the minority vote.

Bull Poop. Proper ID helps to prevent voter fraud which is why the dems are so against voter ID requirements.

1000's or Millions of Illegals should be blocked from Voting.

Now I wouldn't be surprised at all if Jackasscrat tried to suppress the Republican voter. Jackasscrats are known for having no integrity.

BINGO!

And if you drove your car to the voting precinct, you better have your drivers license on your person to begin with! Not that difficult UNLESS you're an Illegal POS trying to vote in someone who will give you more Gov Freebies!

How stupid do you have to be not to know there have been changes in the voting Law? If you are that stupid you shouldn't be given such a serious responsibility. I am tired of the half witted casting stupid votes. We need responsible people, who know the laws, and know the candidates positions , and want responsible government. Not stupid people who have no idea what they stand for if they stand for anything. Elections are not parlor games.

Throw in senior citizens and students who are in schools out of their states.
I don't understand how it could be a state's right to pull this kind of crap. There ought to be federal uniformity in determining federal voting requirements.

99% of senior citizens have ID. Students over 18 out of their states can vote absentee. You don't get around much, do you?

The Weidenbeners are both 90 years old and rest assured they have a damned ID somewhere. This is a lame attempt by the marxist media to prey on two elderly people who at 90 obviously were not attending their first voting rodeo and at 90 they are prone to leave their IDs at home, etc. It all amounts to another gas tank rigged by the media to explode.
Without proper ID voter fraud would be widespread and to complain about a working preventative makes as much sense as voting while in a McDonald's drive through.
The party who tried to get convicted felons the right to vote is the same party whining about people being required to present an ID before being allowed to vote...The infamous self-serving democRat Party...despicable.

First of all, you're talking out of your anal orifice, as usual. There is virtually no voter fraud problem. Mandatory photo ID's is a cure in search of a disease. It is a blatantly obvious attempt by the right to disenfranchise citizens who are thought to be Democrats. These Republican mouthbreathers want to return to the days before voting rights laws.

This may be your idea of a free and fair America. It sure isn't mine. In addition, you amoeba, the day I find myself in agreement with you will be the day I overdose on Big Macs.

You don't remember the arrest in Indiana not too long ago??

In Florida, where the Madison County Supervisor of Elections, a school board member and six others were arrested in connection with allegations of voter fraud.
In New York, where a grand jury indicted a Democrat city council member and election commissioner who face 116 charges.
In Indiana, Mike Marshall, running a Get Out the Vote campaign to re-elect the Democrat mayor, was indicted on 65 counts of ballot fraud.
In Minnesota, where a review of the state’s database of registered voters revealed 2,812 dead people voted in the election that gave Al Franken a seat in the US Senate.
In Wisconsin where a conservative watchdog group raised questions about voters listed at a state senator’s properties; some votes were allegedly fraudulent.
In Texas, where of 25,000 registrations submitted by Houston Votes, only 1,793 were allegedly legal. The same week the voter fraud allegations surfaced, a fire occurred at the Harris County Elections Cente.

Ah the dems, "quick everyone to the cemetary and nursing homes!! Get those names down!" LMAO

Attention just plain stupid!!! Obviously you want to look good to the minorities on this forum and not smell like the libelous democRat you are. However you just cannot concoct crap as an attempt to pass along the democRat legacies of slavery, lynching, Jim Crow et al.
There are plenty of blacks who show their ID everywhere they go...at banks, at the DMV, at the grocery store or wherever a transaction occurs that protects the individual. I suppose you've never heard of Life-Lock where people actually pay for ID protection?
What this shows about you is your level of values. You think voting should equate to a demented Wellstone Memorial free-for-all or a defecating march on Wall Street, etc. Well I hate to pee on you and your parade but voting requires a simple, respectful, common sense protocol...Bring your ID or GFY.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Virgo

You have a very high opinion of a certain person today, believing that they can do no wrong. But how realistic are you being? It looks as though you're viewing the world through rose-colored glasses, which is fine if it's only a temporary state but quite another matter if you're deliberately ignoring problems and pretending that they don't exist.
