Anytime more than 9999 is spent in cash where the money came from has to be proven. You can't just say Iv'e been saving it. Huh? Says who? I paid cash (cashier's check) for my car. The dealer didn't ask where it came from. Deposit $9K at a time. Just who 'must it be proven' to?? Banks DO report $10K transanactions, but that doesn't mean they ever get looked at.

I think, this type of thing happened more often with the paper food stamps, in the past. People would "sell" the food stamp coupons to another person, and accept 50 cents on the dollar in cash. He was Buying them at .60cents on the dollar (making 40%...wow). They would then turn around and buy beer in one of his stores....at a huge mark up as well. He was mental........ OLD pissed off Indian that thought every penny the government had belonged to him and the NA's. Thats' how he looked at it anyways......

I agree with you to a point on the politics as it comes to the Presidency, as he (or she) is only the person that sign legislation into law. I do not agree that voting for congressional representation is inconsequential, however. Those are the ones that can and do screw up our country, not the President. The last time I checked, the Democratic led congress had even lower approval ratings than our not so beloved Commander-in-Chief. They are the ones that worry about their own survival over the welfare of their constituents because they have unlimited terms available to them. They are the ones who NEED to lie, cheat, and steal from the American people to preserve themselves. Get term limits on Senators and Representatives the same as there are on the President, and maybe you'll truly see elected officials that are in Washington, or state governmetn seats, that start representing the wills of their people again. If I have to lay blame on anybody but myself for my financial situation (which I don't), then that blame would go to Congress, not to the President. Know what you're voting for; most people don't! a note to term limits. Elections are terms limits. what we need is campaign finance reform and and informed and engaged electorate. Term limits does nothing but help keep the party in power in power. besdies, if you have to sift through so many to get a few good ones, why would you want to get rid of them?

Ummm...the current commander-in-chief has the lowest approval rating in history! It might be time for you to check again. Either way, the list was condescending because of the way you wrote it. Not to me, remember? I said, "no offense." BTW~ the democrats have a whopping one person advantage over the republicans in congress. By my calculations, both sides are equally at fault. Furthermore, you claim to be educated, and I have no doubt that you probably are, but bringing race into the conversation by saying that minorities are basically uneducated, poor planners, and screw-ups, is one of the most ignorant and uneducated statements on these forums. As a minority myself I don't fit your mold, nor does anyone in my family. As a democrat raised in a republican household, I am proof positive that your golden rules to live by have no basis in the real world. Education is a priviledge in this country, not a right. To look down your nose on someone who is less priviledged than you, is condescending. Granted, anyone has the opportunity to work hard and make something of themselves but it is easier said than done. None of us have the right to judge those who either missed or were not able to come across the same opportunities. Procrastination and laziness are not always the reasons why people find themselves in a less than desirable situation. The majority of us are just doing the best we can. No need to judge. That being said, we can get back on the topic. The ones who procrastinate, are uneducated, and lazy don't typically vote anyway. They are the ones who need to be weened off of Uncle Sam's tit already.

I am not going to utilize the system, I have to much pride in myself and second, their are actually people who need it. It was not setup for the abusers.

She went to homes to take pictures and confirm claims. She broke her knee, well past the "retrainable" age, and can no longer do her job. Of course she was denied, maybe I should take her a bottle of vadka and tell her to get to it!

HIH wrote: Food Stamps are not just for "moochers". Many people who are "working poor" with two and three jobs still have difficulty making ends meet. There are disabled individuals and veterans who receive food stamps because the monthly sustinence checks they receive are not enough to meet all of their expenses. Just so you know...there are taxpayers and people who paid far more to this country than taxes who receive food stamps. Making comments about people being "moochers" and/or "living off of the system" is just a way to over-simplify a major challenge in our country. The bottom line is we live in a country where hard-working, taxpayers are forced to choose between rent/utilities or food, prescription medication or food, gas to get to & from work and food. We've always been a country of haves and have-nots...now, more haves are becoming have-nots. Just something for every hard working person who is a paycheck away from poverty to consider. I have to agree and disagree here.......I am among your disabled but working poor with a handicapped child. I can barely stretch the checks from one week to the next Each month for almost 8 years I have seen my check shrink in it's buying power due to increased oil prices causing everything from a loaf of bread to an apple more than triple in price. Remember those great day old bread stores? I have not seen one here in 3 years now. The proliferation of 'dollar' stores doesn't help as the few loaves I have bought there were moldy. I make less than $50 a month too much to qualify for any aid whatsoever. My childs disability check helps pay the rent and utilities which in case you haven't heard have also doubled in the past 8 years. I don't expect the government to give me a handout while I sit on my butt and have babies by a succession of men, I don't expect them to pay my housing and give me food stamps while I drive around in my SUV but I would like the government to stop taking my money and handing it out to those who do. I don't mind my hard earned and much needed dimes and nickels going to help those who literally cannot help themselves, the disabled, the elderly, and the children but the able bodied adults who are not contributing any effort to their own survival need to be tossed off the rolls. I know a young woman who had 2 children by 2 fathers who is sitting on her rump and collecting free housing food and utilities as well as medical and dental care. When the babies reach 2 and welfare requires her to work she "can't find anything except part-time under 20 hours" and has never held a job longer than 3-4 months. she knows just how to milk the system for all it is worth. Does she stay home and care for her kids? Nope she is out partying while her father does that. Pretty soon she will be pregnant again as the baby is nearing the age of 2. I would rather see free 24 hour a day care for these children and 3 decent meals a day while mommy gets off her butt and works full time just like the rest of us have to do........ She can sweep floors and mop toilets just like anyone else to earn her own rooom and board I think.

Tell the food stamp recipients that ABUSE the system to STOP buying shrimp, lobster & expensive HIGH PROCESSED foods that they wouldn't ordinarily purchase with their own damn money to buy rationally. I used to work in retail & you should see what they buy with their food stamps... It's RIDICULOUS !!!!!

It's very obvious when someone really cannot work. Someone having to be on dialysis every other day will not look like they can work and cannot work. Someone out shopping in the mall, galavanting all over town and on disability could be working instead. Put it this way -- there are many many people out working when they have diabetes, heart disease, fibromyalgia, alcoholism, cancer and so on. Some of your most dependable employees are less than perfectly healthy and often sicker than 3/4 the people on disability.

NEW car apps of 1000 only 300 get the car with good credit in 2008 - use ot be 1000 apps 700 got the car days are past and gone: Today you have to have 20% or more down and pay out over 5+ years then it's worn out and not worth much!!

It is indeed for those with disabilities, that is the whole point... I do not need a medical degree, only two eyes to see. Whenever a person is collecting disability for chronic back problems; yet that same person is able to mow the yard, trim trees while standing on a ladder, while using a chain saw, ride a bicycle, walk the dog, and build their own home additions from scratch, they do not appear "too disabled" to me...
