Obviously these women have men in their lives, why aren't they supporting their children.
So the food stamps run out before the end of the month ... can't you spend some of your own money on food?

U.S. can't afford to feed the world

The Sun's editorial "Feeding the world" (April 16) recommended that the United States provide at least $600 million in food aid to avoid mass starvation in the world.

That is a kind, considerate thought. But whatever our country may do for hungry people will provide only temporary relief.

The world's population is increasing faster than food supplies can keep up. Food prices are extremely high because demand is greater than supply.

Unless population can be stabilized, eventual starvation is inevitable. What a cruel way to bring supply even with demand that would be.

Yet we have a president who has withheld funds from the United Nations Fund for Population Activities year after year. He has also reinstated the "gag rule" that prohibits family planning agencies that receive U.S. government funds from referring to abortion.

And as if the difficulties mentioned above were not enough, the United States is now the greatest debtor nation in the world.

We can no longer afford to feed most of the hungry people of the world.

What is your future?

I believe your right about us noy being able to feed the world, but our policies have caused alot of these problems. We take far more than what we need. if americans drove thier cars less we would not be so fat, and there would be alot more resources to go around.

WAHHHHHHHHHHWAHHHHHWAHHHHHH! Get a job welfare loser.

And it is not free. It cost me and you money out of hard earned paychecks. They just need to quit complaining and stop feeding off the system.

Wait, I changed my mind. GW Bush, take all my money and let these lazy, fat people, eat at Lone Star or Olive Garden for every meal. Oh, they don't take food stamps.

Give me all of my money back Bush. You are using it all wrong.

The high price of food is crippling me too... and I have to pay for it myself! I could really care less if its making it harder on people who are mooching off of the government.

Its funny how so many of these Food Stamp parasites have luxury cars with tacky but expensive rims, text messagers, plasma screens, always on their cell phones etc. Its time to throw these leeches off the dole and let them fend for themselves...if they and their welfare brats end up starving to death, then thats just a bonus!

Food Stamps are not just for "moochers". Many people who are "working poor" with two and three jobs still have difficulty making ends meet. There are disabled individuals and veterans who receive food stamps because the monthly sustinence checks they receive are not enough to meet all of their expenses. Just so you know...there are taxpayers and people who paid far more to this country than taxes who receive food stamps. Making comments about people being "moochers" and/or "living off of the system" is just a way to over-simplify a major challenge in our country. The bottom line is we live in a country where hard-working, taxpayers are forced to choose between rent/utilities or food, prescription medication or food, gas to get to & from work and food. We've always been a country of haves and have-nots...now, more haves are becoming have-nots. Just something for every hard working person who is a paycheck away from poverty to consider.

I am a single mother who works full-time and goes to school who barely makes enough to make ends meet and I fought for child support but its not enough. I don't qaulify for "food stamps" or any other goverment assisted agencies....so therefore they should be grateful they get food stamps. People like me are the ones struggling.....and I am working and trying to get my education so that I don't have to depend on food stamps. I wish others would just do the same....its a shame that all I need is a little help and I don't qualify.....go figure!

And on more thing I am an American, born and raised and I speak english....I am latin and proud but it just seems so funny to me that other un-native to America get way more stuff that I ever will. I have a decent car, wal-mart clothes and all I can afford on groceries is $80 every 2 weeks if that.....so these people have no reason to complain....
