2009 Davos incident

At the 2009 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Ignatius moderated a discussion including Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Israeli President Shimon Peres, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa. As the December '08-January '09 conflict in Gaza was still fresh in memory, the tone of the discussion was lively.[18] Ignatius gave Erdoğan 12 minutes to speak, and gave the Israeli President the final 25 minutes to respond.[18]

Erdoğan objected to Peres' tone and raised voice during the Israeli President's impassioned defense of his nation's actions. Ignatius gave Erdoğan a minute to respond, and when Erdoğan went over his allocated minute, Ignatius repeatedly cut the Turkish Prime Minister off, telling him and the audience that they were out of time and that they had to get to a dinner.[19] Erdoğan seemed visibly frustrated as he said to the President of Israel, "When it comes to killing, you know well how to kill."[18]

Ignatius put his arm on Erdoğan's shoulder and kept telling him that his time was up. Erdoğan then gathered his papers and said, "I do not think I will be coming back to Davos after this because you do not let me speak."[19] Erdoğan then got up from his chair and walked off the stage while the other discussion panelists were still seated, but Amr Moussa stood up to shake his hand as he left. At that point the discussion ended.

Well I am an american who was brought up in a christian home and taught we are supposed to supprt Isreal... I think our ancestors made a big mistake.. What were they thinking when they decided to steal someones elses land and give it to the jews... I would be angry if it had been my home also... They never mention that the jews declared economic war fare on germany in 1933,, checkit out it is true... People blindly support isreal and have never even known or been around an usreali person.. those that have quickly rethink thier position on isreal.. they are terrible people and treat christians the same way they treat the arabs,,, I am talking about the zionists not european or american jews.. A big difference between the two.. a few words to describe zionist isrealis arrogant, devious, totally untrustworthey, they lie more than anyone.. a half truth is a lie to most peoples... Not to the isrealis... Intsead of protecting them we should say help yourself.. of course after they got thier asses kicked a couple of years back by the lebonese they have realized they cannot win the wars as they did before...So they continue to survive off the pity they recieved after WWII... forget it that was a long time ago...I was very pro isreal until working personally with a few of them and realized they may be sub human.. believe me they cannot be trusted..
