water_nymph wrote: <quoted text>At least a gnostic theist would have some form of education. Personally, I'm a gnostic agnostic. I can prove that all the man made Gods up to now cannot possibly have ever existed, but I leave room for someone to prove their God to me. So far my agnosticism is winning, though it did not always do so. I spent many years as a Christian. Then one day the universe opened up and infinity was in view. I realized how much I'd missed, how much I don't know and how small my world was. It was a great moment that has lasted for several years now. Funny what you can see when you are sitting on a curb waiting for a guy to fix your flat and bring it back. It's like nothing I had ever experienced as a theist, I can tell you that for sure. It was like seeing a whole universe being born, the infinite shrunk to just the right size for viewing, the music of the spheres playing in the middle of a quiet afternoon. I will never forget that moment. Interesting. Care to share?

water_nymph wrote: <quoted text>This is what every generation has said since this craziness was written by John of Patmos.
There is no more 'evil' in the world than there was in the fictitious stories of your holey book. Earthquakes, storms, wars, murders and the like have been around since the earth congealed into this rolling dirt ball.
This is the tactic of charlatans to instill fear so that weak-minded people will join your little clan. But fewer and fewer are buying into it. If I had the power, I would give all of you a glimpse of what freedom from that kind of fear is. But, playing devil's advocate here :) those things could all be civilization enders. And they are very real. Some we have no control over and can only prepare for. Some are inevitable, but most likely far off in the future. Some are completely within our control, but only if we, as a planet, take responsibility and stop handing that responsibility to a useless, invisible, unreliable, and most likely non-existent deity.

Aerobatty wrote: <quoted text> Ooooo.... That stings. Hey Pal doesn't have the intelligence to say something that stings, much less the importance to do so. Nothing typed from the fingers of a fundie are worth the effort to care about it. Only those who are important enough in your life that you give their opinion credence can say something that stings or insults. I personally think people are only insulted because they want to be. They are insulted when their ideas are not accepted by everyone. It's a waste of time and energy.

Aerobatty wrote: <quoted text> Ooooo.... That stings. By the way, this is just a sock puppet of one of my old nemeses. The mention of the lake proves it. They think they are so clever by continually gray-boxing under a new name, but changing names more often than most people change underwear doesn't give them the sense to change what they say or how they say it. People who are secure in themselves and their opinions have no need to change names at the drop of a hat. I just know that they are insecure in their own faith to the point they know their God will not defend them against people with opposing opinions. It's always a hoot.

Some are completely within our control, but only if we, as a planet, take responsibility and stop handing that responsibility to a useless, invisible, unreliable, and most likely non-existent deity. I agree in part. Storms, earthquakes, etc are very real. They are not signs of God coming for his elect nor are they signs that a God as described in any holy book exist. This world, like any other, will end at some point and it may do so in the blink of an eye if a large enough asteroid hits the earth. It will still have nothing to do with proving a deity, as described by man, exists. I totally agree that there are things that human beings can save this planet from the destruction we are causing, if we choose to. But as you so aptly noted, the whole of the human race has to take responsibility for those things and find means to live in this world without destroying it and the other humans who inhabit it.

And before it died ( most likely that night ) it mutated and yes "AND" reproduced spawning all life that ever lived came from. " Plants, lizards, fish, manuals, bacteria, insects, and dinosaurs, etc. " Vs God created it all. Science says the simplest explanation is usually the correct one. So all life from this one spec! But yet you all say Adam and Eve could not produce all humanity. There no talking sense to such one sided wild far out theory's Natural process Vs Magic Trick? I will stick with natural process
