That's what happens when you talk bullsh*t to athiests.
Funny to see you try to manipulate the emotions of people way smarter than you just because they are also atheists.

This post was the equivalent of watching a Jerry Springer audience chant "USA, USA". It was a sad appeal to the lowest common denominator. If you want to restore any sense of credibility after ripping on your fellow atheists for not being lock-step with you on Buck being a God-bot, claiming a theory is a proven fact, trying cheap emotional appeals, etc , you probably should start with making some intelligent posts for a change. If you are capable of doing so. Nothing you can say about my posts is going to make your posts look any better. Concentrate on those for a while and see how you do. This tactic you just tried here reeks of desperation.

I have written the same thing.
I disagree that it does little to support my views. I am a supporter of ID, and can be accused of a bias. The views supplied are from Darwinist, non-supporters of ID, in mainstream science and media. They are true skeptics, and they agree with what I have written.
You might want to brush up on how evidence is evaluated, Counselor.
I make a formidable case that the castigation of ID as creationism is a sham.
Beats me.

I see so damn clearly that ID is a total sham.

Transparent.

Unworthy of serious discussion.

I don't castigate, I dismiss summarily.

See, this is EXACTLY what I've been talking about on this forum...The theists here are NOT TRUE CHRISTIANS since their mouths DO NOT reflect the power of the HOLY SPIRIT...I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday and I KNOW what c/s/m/f/g/d (cocksuckingmotherfuckergoddam n) means!

I have been TRYING to fulfill the GREAT COMMISSION given to ALL TRUE CHRISTIANS by Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I want these Topix atheists SAVED before the MORMONS get 'em or the Pentecostals give them head lice and you come here with your filthy mouth and call yourself a Christian! You've even DARED explain our LORD's righteous SACRIFICE with a mouth that spews filth unto His WOUNDS! You might as well be kicking Jesus in the groin and then running away in a sick game of Mexican tag!

Is "cocksuckingmotherfuckerg oddamn" what you holler at Christ when you see our Lord and Savior tacked up on Calvary's cross, bleeding, in a silly loincloth, in a crown of thorns, for your crappy little sins? Do you think it's FUNNY that people were laughing at HIM for being a 33-year-old virgin carpenter? You would probably even dress HIM up like Lady GAGA and giggle incessantly while he's up on a cross in stiletto heels and a blonde wig!

Sure, Christ's sacrifice was not really a "sacrifice" given that His death was a "pretend death" and HE is now PERFECTLY FINE and in PARADISE and HIS suffering took place 2,000 years ago and who the hell cries about something that happened even 15 years ago?...However, you should really show some RESPECT. Mel Gibson did NOT make a B-grade slasher flick, The Passion of the Christ, so you could call yourself a Christian and then say, "cocksuckingmotherfuckerg oddamn" to Christ's face. SHAME! You need to reflect on Christ's pain:

Atheists: Be careful with this FAKE Christian. He might even be a MORMON.

I think this really goes to more of a different question which is, is it possible for a being to have always existed?

All life, including ourselves obviously, that we know if finite. It has a beginning and an end. If something as complex as the universe could form naturally then something as complex as God could be created naturally. However if God always existed then we would be talking more about the probability of something extremely complex coming into existence on its own or whether it would need intelligent guidance.

Although I do think that goes both ways. I personally think it would be much more likely the universe always existed than it formed itself naturally.

This also extends into other areas. Most people think it is at least possible there is life, maybe even intelligent life, elsewhere in the universe. Did this life also start from the Big Bang or have there been more than one Big Bang? For those of faith there really is nothing to address if God created life elsewhere.

Then we also have to consider if always existing is something that occur but just not in sentient life but rather in regards to time and space. And could there even be an implosion without those two things?

I personally don't think we will ever know this side of life. If there is life-after-death then I would imagine we will find out then. But it is interesting to think about.

Good to see ya Catcher. Hope all is well

Oh goodness. What am I to do now?

I can believe historians of science, cell biologists, mathematicians, and microbiologists with stellar scientific credentials who study it, do actual research and submit their evidence for formal publication, write best-selling books about it,...

Or accept your conclusions as valid - a Southern California attorney who has never taken a serious look at the subject, who says it's a transparent sham.

...you probably sense which way I'm leaning here.

You do realize that the standard of criticism you offer will also require you to dismiss Big Bang Theory as a transparent sham?

<quoted text>That is a cute tale. But the search could have been simplified if Forest had read the Kitzmiller transcript, where Charles Thaxton explained the rewrite. Mystery solved.

It might be of interest to you and Forest if you dug a bit deeper in the original draft to see that it already avoided Edwards v. Aguillard in stating that intelligent design postulated no supernatural creator, which was the prohibition ruled in Edwards. Again, that's the original draft.

This suggests the editing was for substance, not legality.

But it's still a cute story.
And ID will never escape the fact that it implies a designer.

You can only deny that by lying.

I would have been for impeaching Bush over letting the two border guards be sent to prison for shooting the beaner dope-smuggler in the ass.

Hey, Cletchman.

How come you didn't show up to pick up me and Fountain at LAX?

We got drunk and rented a car and ended up in some place called Rosarito Beach.

We can't understand a damn word the people are saying. They must be speaking mexican or cuban.

The girls seem to like us. They can't stop grinning. Fountain killed a rattlesnake and ate it.

Thanks.
Yeah, I hadn't seen this junk DNA issue before I saw it on this thread recently. A couple of the theists reported that mainstream science had been humiliated by the ID researchers by showing that junk DNA had function. It turned out they were referring to some examples of DNA previously thought to be nonfunctional that were later shown to have function. And somehow, this is being peddled through the echo chamber as a feather in the ID cap.
Obviously, the argument depends on showing that ALL DNA is functional, which hasn't been done, which makes the whole mess kind of stink to me - "grasping at straws" as you say, but more, and worse. I don't approve of the spirit of such a choice. Dishonesty is a deal killer in any sales pitch.
For the skeptic, what's interesting and useful is to see the evolution of another apologetics meme. Like flagella and 747s, expect ti see the phrase "junk DNA" over and over again. You get the distinct impression that somebody conceived of this as a persuasive meme and disseminated to the foot soldiers like the theists posting it here, who serve as its vector.
As best I can tell, this is the baby of Jonathon Wells, who wrote a The Myth Of Junk DNA" http://www.mythofjunkdna.com/ . Not surprisingly, Wells is a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute http://www.discovery.org/p/41 which is a think tank dedicated to propagating certain Christian themes, at least according the them and their Wedge Document. From Wiki:
"The wedge strategy is a political and social action plan authored by the Discovery Institute, the hub of the intelligent design movement. The strategy was put forth in a Discovery Institute manifesto known as the Wedge Document, which describes a broad social, political, and academic agenda whose ultimate goal is to defeat materialism, naturalism, evolution, and "reverse the stifling materialist world view and replace it with a science consonant with Christian and theistic convictions."
You get the impression that Christians fund think tanks with political agendas, which leads to the generation and dissemination of propaganda through various media, a phenomenon I considered recently at http://www.topix.com/forum/topstories/TOCO8TE... :
"I don't mean the typical Topix poster, who is merely a vector for the propaganda, thinks such things. I mean the people who are the sources of these memes - the think tanks and policy centers where such strategies are planned and executed, and from which come the various white papers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_paper and policy statements, like the infamous Wedge Strategy.
"These eventually become popular books among Christians, radio talking points, web sites, and the like. There is no huge group discussion, nor a vote. The vector just gets the message, not the reasons behind it, and cannot tell us any of the reasons he is parroting the inculcated meme."
This junk DNA thing is obviously just the latest flush from the Discovery Institue into the general culture. Thanks, DI!
I can see what you mean. They can (and are) spending a great deal of money buying the necessary brainpower to turn their near-empty straws into something that SOUNDS far more substantial. It's dirty pool and intellectually dishonest. They must employ some quasi-science types (traitors!) to ramp the understanding level above the normal interested lay-person zone (admittedly that's MY zone, but with a healthy dose of skepticism thrown in). My original optimism is now dashed. My thanks also go out to the DI.(NOT!)

Note: I callously (though reluctantly) deleted some of your original post to save space.

Yes, it did. Nixon should have been prosecuted. We were told that America didn't have the stomach for it, that it was too tired and had been through too much. Poor America!
As i recall many did have the stomach for it.

Nixon put an end to Vietnam.

The draft was stopped under Nixon and has so remained to this day.

Nixon enacted the Civil Rights Act of 1957. A voting rights act. The first civil rights legislation enacted by congreee...since reconstruction following the Civil War. Strom Thurmond, a Democrat opposed and conducted the longest filibuster by a lone Senator.

Nixon also established the Environmental Protection Agency. There is no reason to assume he resigned in disgrace. Nixon got me home early, maybe saved my life.

He also opened diplomacy and trade with China

I know people always say he was the worst or one of the worst presidents but he did a lot of good things and my guess is what he got caught doing compared to what other presidents have done would like like small potatoes in comparison. Could Nixon also have skeletons that didn't see the light of day? Sure. But in days of voter fraud and intimidation and secret wars and guns for hostages and funding the Sandinistas before the Contras and bypassing congressional approval and so on and so on and so on, Watergate doesn't seem like a big thing to me in comparison. Not justifying it or saying they should not have gone after him when he got caught. Just saying I think it has to be looked at with some perspective.

Daily Horoscope for May 24

Libra

This is a fantastic day for using your brain with precision and accuracy. For instance, it's great for filling in a complicated form or going through some complex paperwork because you'll find it easy to concentrate on what you're doing. It's especially good for paying attention to the sort of finicky details that you normally aren't interested in but which are right up your street.
