Hearing for children at polygamist retreat grinds to a halt

Do I see a major lawsuit coming here? Over-reaction without evidence? Is this Waco without the tanks?

Has anyone else seen the description of the only evidence that the police have? The medical records of three teenagers.... like that is really going to 'prove' anything?

Hell, if anything they should be having full-on sexual abuse examinations done on all the children if they TRULY think they were physically or sexually abused.... perhaps they don't want to do that, because as I know from reading books on the subject, those examinations are VERY rarely definitive.

This is the price we, as a free country pay for our freedoms. Unfortunately these types of groups seem to be growing in number and membership. Personally, I just don't understand why people need to be so devoted to a religion. Any Religion. Fanatsism in any thing is dangerous. But there HAS to be a way to keep track of these types of groups to see that children are not harmed! These people in paticular seem to be totally sick!

Jail the men, sterilize the women and adopt out the kids. Scorched earth is the only way to stop this nonsense.

I would keep watching if I were you. I have a feeling this 16 year old girl who made the intial call to police has "dissapeared" against her will. I have a very bad feeling about all this. Just wait till all the evidence is in before you rush to their defense!

I was watching this story on the news...Actually, the women pictured on this page, was speaking. She sounds like she had a labatomy (sp?)

This is a sad situation.

Everyone has a right to their religion, I personally do not care if someone has more than one wife, but forced marriage, and sex w/ underage children is highly innnapropriate.

Not putting guilt on anyone, they deserve a fair trial.

Bad stuff happened to those kids there. There was one who was 16 and pregnant with her 3rd child.

She probably exists, but things have exploded waaay out of hand, without due process....again.

Doubtful that all the 'suits' representing these folks will do things pro bono.

more like another haulocast but instead of Hitler behind the wheel its our good old US president.

This isn't an attack on their religion. There is an issue here where children are being forced into traditions that they do not want to be a part of. IF they want to live on their own ranch and grow their own food and go to church there isn't a problem. The Amish have lived peacefully for decades. Their lands are not being invaded by the government because they are not abusing children. The children have the options of leaving nobody is forcing them to get married.
