Sorry to hear that the Gov reversed his decision. If the arts were so important it could stand on its own two feet. We need someone like Scott Walker who will stand by his decisions.

Most art today is such crap. Especially modern art and dance. Did you hear the one about the two little boys who found themselves in a modern art museum by mistake?

"Run!" said one "before they come in and think we did it!"

Any time someone's pet project is authorized funding (at any level of govt), a certain percent of those funds end up in pockets of individuals not related to the project. Eventually a portion of that percent is returned as campaign donations. When will the taxpayers say, "I'm mad as hell and will not take it any more ?"

Both the arts groups in Kansas and NPR need to be weaned off of public financing...hopefully this will happen shortly after Republicans gain control of both the Senate and the White House.

There was a time when NPR served a public need. Now the Discovery channels and others compete in the public sector and operate far more efficiently. These networks operate without public funding and manage to make a profit. If NPR can't survive in the public arena then it needs to go away just like any other business that no longer serves a public need.

The ignorance displayed by rethug posters is truly astounding! Civilized nations have always subsidized the arts in one way or another. Without npr many civilized educated Americans would be left with nothing to listen to but crap for dummies like rock, country,(c)rap and hip hop!

No really the ignorance displayed is when a poster thinks that there will never be an end to money to pay for all the PERKS that the liberals would like to experience.
A liberal thinks and honestly believes that there exists plantations of money trees where all the people have to do to receive productive cash is to water the trees. TANSTAAFL !
