Mr. Cool's Intensity
People who met Obama in those early days in Chicago say they were struck by two qualities: First was his remarkable ability to work across racial lines; the second was his political ambition. His strategy was to straddle -- between black and white, between rich and poor, between Harvard and the streets. That's still the essence of his appeal: I am the person who can bring America together because I contain within myself all of its contradictions.

That protean quality is what Obama liked about his pastor. In his first autobiography (still the Rosetta stone for decoding the Democratic candidate), he says this of Wright and his church: "It was this capacious talent of his -- this ability to hold together, if not reconcile, the conflicting strains of black experience -- upon which Trinity's success had ultimately been built."

Obama's problem with Wright back then wasn't that he was too radical but that he was too bourgeois. Obama says that he told Wright at their first meeting that he worried "that the church is too upwardly mobile." He didn't want to be surrounded by "buppies" -- black urban professionals -- who had the lesser goal of making money....

Albert Murray titled a collection of his essays on black culture "The Omni-Americans." That was his view of the African American experience, that it pointed in every direction at once -- toward anger and healing, toward rage at America and a patriotism that has led blacks to serve in disproportionate numbers in the military, toward the paradox of hating America and being intensely loyal to it.

That's the history-changing package that Barack Obama brings to the presidential race. Based on last week's primary results, we have a rendezvous in November with that vision of "Omni-America" and the transcendent and potentially disruptive change it represents.

Racism, of course. Both KY and WV are absolutely crawling with KKK. More polite people will say that it's demographics. Both states are top heavy with older, white, blue collar, low income,....racists. "This is Hillary's demographic!"

Oregon will put him over the top, and in the meantime we have the fun of blowing their tiny little minds.

GOP getting crushed in polls, key races
By JIM VANDEHEI & DAVID PAUL KUHN | 5/10/08 12:49 PM EST

"...At the polls, it has been a massacre. In recent weeks, Republicans have lost a Louisiana House seat they had held for more than two decades and an Illinois House seat they had held for more than three. Internal polls show that next week they could lose a Mississippi House seat that they have held for 13 years.

In the polls, they are setting records (and not the good kind). The most recent Gallup Poll has 67 percent of voters disapproving of President Bush; those numbers are worse than Richard Nixon’s on the eve of his resignation. A CBS News poll taken at the end of April found only 33 percent of Americans have a favorable view of the GOP — the lowest since CBS started asking the question more than two decades ago. By comparison, 52 percent of the public has a favorable view of the Democratic Party.

Things are so bad that many people don’t even want to call themselves Republicans. The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press has found the lowest percentage of self-described Republicans in 16 years of polling.

“The anti-Republican mood is fairly big, and it has been overwhelming,” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis...."

And no decent American would say otherwise. These wretched specimens of humanity will die off soon, and the planet will be a better place.

A man who won't stand facing the American Flag with his hand over his heart, while the national anthem is playing, nor will he wear an American Flag pin on his jacket has no right even running for President. God Bless our country! Now more than ever!(I am not real happy with Hillary or McCain either but at least they respect the flag and what it stands for)

Dr. Ron Paul is 1,000 times better than the above mentioned losers, a man who is actually for America, which is why the powers that be won't let him win.

I am a white female and a bit younger than Hillary. I do not wear an American flag pin and really do not want to either. What does wearing that mean..any phony can do that and they do!
Hillary was a fraud when Bill C had his affairs, defending him like this was new to her, when he wanted to divorce her in the late 80's for someone he was in love with...she knew his sexual antics ...well!
Hillary lied about sniper fire 10 plus yrs ago. I can remember my first trip over seas in 1969 and I would certainly remember if someone was shooting at me in a war zone..esp if I had my child with me! She lied that her tiredness from the campaign overwhelmed her...lol! Second blatant lie, that we were told..anyway!
Hillary as a Senator is a joke..no 200,000 jobs here and what has she done anywhere in NY state?, besides run for president for the past 2 yrs.
What experience does she have..since all of you WNY'S keep stating that Obama has none. I see that she was..uhhh... first lady, traveling to places she DREAMED that she was shot at and never saw any welcoming committee or children.... maybe so she could say she has war experience?..and that was all made completely up. She voted for a WAR that has taken some of your family to the grave and cannot be abandoned immediately, because it may cause complete chaos in the middle east!
We do have Obama though, who the media and multiple racists who have attempted to obliterate him with "assumptions" about relationships with ex-neighbors and friends that he knew were terrorists or criminals, his closeness to a father figure..maybe like you and some ex- pedophile priest that I saw entire parishes suppport... which may have been just a close friendship for support needed for a male figure in his life, his identity with an ethnicity that is blatant all over his body.. so if he looked white.. who would care or know if he was black and then vote for the man and not the color, the conduct of those close to him..that he HAS NOT distanced himself from, like we all have done or are doing..etc. Just a question to all who write on this forum..have you examined all of your own relationships with friends and family..criminals, drug users, thieves of any amount, ethnic condemnation of other whites.. which you know you have done or are participating in.
Obama is a human man and not a GOD nor were any other presidents! He appears honest, trustworthy and capable of correcting the "inexperience", blunders, lies and violations of our AMERICAN CONSTITUTION, by president Bush!
Obama should be given the opportunity to save us from this tremendous downturn of our once possessed... sense of AMERICANISM!

All this campaigning is getting annoying, but Obama's step father was from a Muslim state of Indonesia. His mother homeschooled him with an American education every morning before sending off to the Indonesian state school which was a Muslim school and it was required while living there. That didn't last long, his mother sent him back to the states to her parents to get an American education. The church he has attended for years, uses the BIBLE, they are not Muslim. Wright speaks for himself. Yes, it is bad for Obama. I don't agree with everything my pastor preaches either. As far as hating his mother. I don't believe he did. He had trouble identifying with a race, knowing he was just as much white as black. But, society sees him as a black man because of his skin color, so, of course it was easier to fit in with the "black crowd". My father is Native American and My mother is caucasian. If you stuck me on a reservation, I would stick out like a sore thumb. I am as white skinned as an Irish leprechaun. I hate the word "race" When it comes downs to checking the little box on race... I check other and put "human". My freckles are caused by the same chemical that makes Michael Jordan dark, I just have less of it.

I cannot understand why people even support Barack Obama. He has no experience, he has a wife who hates the white population, and speaking of mothers I have never heard reference to his. You would think reference would be made to his mother, at least on Mother's Day. I am all for Hillary Clinton 100%. I do believe she can unite the party; I believe she can lead this country; I believe she will do great things for this country.

I also believe that it is the media that is pushing Barack, and I believe they are pushing him because Mrs. Clinton is a woman. If Clinton was a man, any man, I do not think the media or the people would be so Obama crazy. It is as simple as that.

I will say that if Barack gets the Democratic nomination I will vote McCain. But if Hillary Clinton gets the nomination, she will have my vote.
