I see your point. Kind of similar to the oligarchy we have in America, yes? After all, America encourages slavery and is a military threat to our neighbors. But at least we're not communists, eh?

Radical Constitutional structure change.
See how Libertarians believe in RADICAL extra-Constitutional doctrine.
It is a constitutional structure change, but it is not radical. It is extra-constitutional, but it is not radical. Is it radical to improve our way of life?

Ron Pauler - I've tried to persuade Murray to
join us on Topix ... truly have ... but he is
one of those guys who doesn't believe in 'puters'
and blames them for much of what is wrong in
the world.
Truth is, I've known Murray for about 13 years
now and he is still pretty incomprehensible to
me. He's not a Democrat, but he is a kind of
Republican anarchist .... if there can be such a
thing. I guess I'd call him an Independent
because he won't even join AARP or Costco.
Then, just as I conclude he's an anarchist he
spews a "law and order" mantra and muses about
the 2nd Amendment being the 11th Commandment.
Go figure.
My read on Murray is that he will vote for McCain
if only because McCain has disclosed his lack of
facility with computers, as he's suspicious of
those who are. I think its like how some people
who are in a store and a couple of people are
speaking Spanish ... and think they must be
talking about them. A bit paranoid, but in
Murray's case, wearing a green felt hat and
flip flops to a pot luck supper at the church,
it just might be true.
I'm disclosing my age a bit, but my wife thinks
of him as George, the caretaker at the inn in
that Bob Newhart series. I think of him more as
the neighbor in "Home Improvement" who dresses
like George and sounds like Yoda.
It is my view that anything that connects people to each other and provides information, especially computers, can be very beneficial to the world if used properly.

I would like it if Murray could join us in this discussion, his perspective would be welcome.

How long to plug a hole? The Real estate developers are faster in acquistion liek squirel to a nut ... must lot of loop holes and big holes in the State and local code?
In this case the "hole" was plugged two years
later. However, once it was clear that the first initiative was being used in a manner not intended
by the citizens ... demonstrated at public meet-
ings ... the counties put requests on hold until
we had a chance to vote on revisions. All things
considered very little damage was done.

The big loophole still existing rests with those
who buy large tracts of land previously farms or
ranches, then submit requests to build resorts.
The resorts, of course, are touted to be a source
of economic growth in what are usually rural areas
that are hard pressed for new sources of income
(taxes), so they often passed.

Resorts include golf courses, of course, which
means country clubs and upscale homes along the
fairways. These, in turn, place pressure on the
school systems, county infrastructure, and more.

The upshot is that this loophole is also being
considered for closure.

Chiming in on your response to BillR, what approach are you talking about? Are you siding with the developer to build or the single owner to live outside of urbanization? If you are siding for the individual owner the strategy is either reapportionment or incorporation. In either example you get home rule. Sounds like your both on an interesting thread here.
Its really a simple compromise of zoning. Inside the line is fair game (as far as development). Outside the line will take an act of (your choice) to get done. An attempt to prevent arbitrary land use changes at the whim of development while giving incentives and to finish developing or redevelop urban areas. An experiment dealing with sprawl.

So the "development" in other countries is a
"potential threat" to the United States? When
did we come to the conclusion that America's
prosperity was contingent on a lesser quality
of life for other nations? How does this match
up with Paul's purported noninterventionist
approach?
I was merely taking a stab at the reasoning behind CP's beliefs. I would say that your first sentence is correct while your second is incorrect. I say "let them threaten us," to a certain extent of course.

How about loophole in enroachment of Govt, the Eminent domain issue? What about protection against intervionist Fed govt unlawful asset acquistion notice , the Govt clause called "Best Use..." as they have right to acquire the land anytime?

It's hard to communicate with someone who constantly tries to distance himself from me. So while you are you and I am I there is also we. And we are not free traders in this thread and neither are we protectionists. We are the people. Therefore we have a common interest, we are both looking out for each other. It's no good to deny this and alienate yourself from everyone else just to show us that we're wrong. Change happens when the people get together and demand it.
Good! Thanks for the PSA we can all use that reminder from time to time.

And how expensive is real estate taxes ( I called eatstate tax)? UP there? Time to apply old economic PPP!

NOTE! If you do get HO insurance "MAKE SURE you read the (deceptive) clauses " one word or pharase can take everything out of context and make a very big difference if you get your full settlement. As more sly insurers are getting in the risk management and aviodance game and they will forgo paying full or non at settlement... All insurance policy should be look at by a professional. Caveat Emptor!

I'm not sure I know what "homeless" you are
talking about, but it may be in reference to
those who had bought undeveloped rural property
years ago (often as a retirement home) before
the first set of land use codes were passed.
They weren't homeless, just unable to build as
a result of the code.

The first initiative passed corrected that in-
justice and remains in place after the second
initiative corrected errors in language that
opened the doors to some development.

I am unaware of any situation beyond the urban
growth boundaries where the federal government
sought to acquire any of the lands in question.

CPs nationalistic fervor and overly jingositic pride will be US downfall. He needs to wake up to reality and instead should support "We, the people (world)" rights to free from corrupted (world) govts evil agendas for the world . His patriotism is for the govt rule, not represent the (world) populace human and civil rights and other rights.
Do you notice the Constitution Party gathering a whole lot of momentum out there? I sure don't.
It is sort of funny though, as while China
gradually tears down at least some of the walls
(ref. to the Great Wall of China as a symbol),
C.P. would have us build a few around the United
States, figuratively and actually.
