wait, does anyone still watch David Letterman anymore?
Quick, where did John McCain first publicly announce his candidacy for the Presidency?

Answer: Late Nite With David Letterman.

So the answer to your question is YES, MILLIONS, upon MILLIONS of middle class to UPPER middle class citizens many of them educated with college degrees watch Letterman religeously.

If David Letterman were irrevelevent, John McCain would not have over a half-dozen appearances on that show.

David Letterman and John McCain had a relationship. John McCain just threw that into the toilet.

This has been a bad week for John McCain, a good week for America.

BTW... If McCain tanks at the debate, the official excuse will be because "HE EXHAUSTED HIMSELF OVER THE LAST FEW DAYS WORKING TO HAMMER OUT THE BAILOUT AGREEMENT."

That is the official bailout statement of the McCain campaign.

Looking forward to it!

I find it interesting that Mcbush has been a large part of the problem in Washington yet suddenly he's going to mount his pure white stallion, gallop into the capitol and save the country!!!
Give me a break!
Let me guess, you're between the ages of 18 and 24, and you've never voted for anyone other than a Democrat, and none of your friends are Republicans. I'm a registered Democrat and I'm voting for McCain.

Dave should stick to real comedy and leave politics to the pros. He has become increasingly offensive the last couple of years. I think it's time to turn him off. His egomania has gotten to me.

What you right-wing clown bags are forgetting is that McCain told Dave he had to go back to Washington, but instead stayed in NY and sat with Katie Couric.
I understand he's got a lot going on, but tell the truth. If he has to lie to get out of a talk show interview, what else isn't be being honest about?
Right wing clown bags?--Oh, you definitely come from the sticks with a pathetic lame comment like that. The only clowns I see are Barack Hussein Obama, Rev. Wright, Fr. Pfleger, Al Sharpton, Keith Olberman, Rachel Maddow, Barb. Walters, Joy Behar, Whoopie, Chris Matthews, everyone on NBC, MSNBC, and you!

Again, I ask, what does McCain think he is going to accomplish? Is he single-handedly going to solve the financial crisis?? Someone remind this old man there are 98 other Senators who aren't running for President. Suspending the campaign accomplishes nothing. This is when we need a debate most!
Oh, let the entire economy go down the tank over a debate. Let me remind you, that Senator McCain and Senator Obama works for the American people for $160K/yr. Obama has not worked but campaigned for almost 2 years and we paid for it. I do not pay taxes for people to campaign. McCain did the right thing, yes it was great politically, but it is his duty to the American people to be part of the solution. Obama just said call me if you need me which means don't call me I'm too busy trying to figure out what foreign policy is all about from my team of 400 advisors. Now that is scary. McCain again puts Country First not every other country but the one that he is from, the one he fought for, and the one that he represents. Get it? Keep in mind that Barney Frank could and should have done something being head of the finance committee, Dodd should have done something being head of the banking committee--where was he with Frank doing nothing holding a golf fundraiser with the head of Freddie Mac after he collected $90mln for tanking Freddie Mac as Raines did who is an advisor to Obama. Dodd was the #1 receiver of campaign funds from the failed Freddie Mac headed by Raines, who was #2? Obama-yes, your guy. So who is the corrupt one now? Your pathetic liberals who are self-serving themselves to the apple pie.

Letterman, you ARE an ugly date. On the inside. No one used you; it wasn't your show that made McCain beg off. Get this through your head: it wasn't about you; not everything is about you!

why could'nt mccain not be man enough to tell letterman the real reason he was canceling?
when a person lies to you outright would'nt you be just a tad annoyed? especoially by someone who wants to be president?
Consider this...right now you're only hearing Letterman's side of the story. We haven't heard McCain's yet. But to me it doesn't matter as McCain's no show with Letterman is a non-event, no big deal, no loss, inconsequential, who cares?...especially who cares what Letterman thinks, says or does?

I'm more concerned what the next POTUS is doing to serve this country...not what some egomaniac dipwad whose feelings were hurt. He and his dipwad buddy Olberman can go cry on each other's metrosexual shoulders and learn the actions and behaviors of a true man is.

Letterman is a 60 year old 10 year old. What a weak, painfully not funny little man.

Oh, and another great AP piece. Has Zell laid off all the Tribune writers?

one question, why did mccain lie as to where he was going when he canceled on letterman? he was'nt running to go "save" the economy . he was having an interview with katie couric.
so much for suspending my campaign and putting america first.

mccain has just shown himself to be a lying sack of shit politician in full view of the world.
so don't blame letterman for blasting mccain about it. mccain deserves it for being a lying asshole...

It wasn't very nice of McCain, but get over it already. The jokes aren't funny anymore. Think of something else to joke about.

Really, don't you think an interview with Katie Couric was more important? Get over yourself.

You are exactly right.

Letterman is a Modern Liberal. He's condescending and ignorant of facts because his mindset was formed when he was a child and he cannot let go of the early teachings.

So Mr Rogers-like sayings such as "don't hit" have morphed into "no war". And sayings like "let's share everything", etc. are the foundation of a whole mindset and philosophy. The results are based on "being owed", selfishness and anger.

It's not unlike alcoholism as Modern Liberals are in constant denial. Facts cannot get in the way.

McCain MUST be evil to a Modern Liberal like Letterman for no other reason than he is a Republican who works towards solutions through choosing the right choice and winning.

Likewise, Obama MUST be good to a Modern liberal like Letterman for no other reason than he (Obama) won't let principles determine an outcome.(Like all true Modern Liberals, Obama doesn't subscribe to morals or ethics and that's why everything is "relative." "It depends.")

In other words, Letterman loves Obama because Obama wouldn't argue for what is right because that might offend the other party. If the other party is offended, then that leads to conflict - which is a no-no for Modern Liberals.

So when Obama says "let's talk" to Iran, what he means is "let's find out what bothers them about us and fix it AND let's not offend them with our position." We call this appeasement, right? Well, it all goes back to childhood for Modern Liberals.

Modern Liberals give up all of our positions AND they actually work to tear them down.

Modern Liberals tear down what is good, successful and right, while elevating what is evil, failed and wrong so (to them) we come to a middle ground and there is nothing let to fight about - or live for.

(I understand that Penny Pritzker, Obama's National Finance Chair, is hosting or just did host a reception for the evil President of Iran (Ahmadinejad). Yes, unbelievable.)

And to get to their failed Utopia, Modern Liberals will work to hurt people. That's why things like civility are out the window. Letterman cannot be civil because he has to work to tear down McCain. Not having morals or ethics means he doesn't care and the word "hypocrite" means nothing to him (or any true Modern Liberal.)

Watch the video "HOW MODERN LIBERALS THINK" at http://www.youtube.com/watch...

It's very, very good and it explains just about everything about what motivates Modern Liberals like Letterman, Obama, Reid, Pelosi, etc. Find the time to watch it all.
